Hey guys. I just got home from going to Argentina to visit family and visit some sites for 3 weeks. I almost didn't take my camera with fear of getting mugged or something! So I insured my equipment and took it with me and I am so glad I did. I got some GREAT shots. I have most already done but putting some finishing touches so I'll keep updating this thread tomorrow and adding pics. The first ones are the B&W's

Not sure if you al prefer thumbnail links or full size

Comments welcome.

1. A broken window in an Adobe home in a small town.

2. A stack of crates in same town

3. I usually don't like B&W landscapes, specially in this part of the world, the dit and rock has SO much color that it really kills it. However, with the clouds rolling in it gave a great contrast. I think the broken bridge ads nicely to the comp.

4. Just a random modest adobe home in the middle of the valley.

5. We stopped in the town of Humahuaca. While eating lunch this group came in to play some typical music. This guy came in with his accordion and was super skilled. He was good and you could tell he loved what he did. I tilted the camera to get the shot to give the perspective from his POV.

6. Took this pic and converted it to IR.

Hmm where did you see the dust on 16? I see some on 15 now that I am looking. 16 is in fact straight, but the light pole is crooked. I if I straighten the light pole then the horizon will be crooked, unless I of course to some cutting and chopping. It bothered me at first but I just let it roll.

No hot chick, the GF didn't make it out on this trip, but my family in Argentina has banished me from returning unless I bring her with.

Whats the best way to clean the sensor? I've never had to do it. Got a cleaning kit from Adorama with my lens wonder if any of those things will work.

21 is the church my parents got married at.

Circled them in red here. I kept them light so it wouldn't detract from the dust. Check the exif on your shot. If it's below f/11 clean it. If it's stopped down f/11-f22 or higher, I wouldn't worry about it yet.

I figured. The anal retentive in me is coming out.

Damn! She was alone and you didn't inform CR? You disappoint. :)

Google Copper Hill Method.

Before you do anything, verify which cleaning kit solution should be used with your sensor. Do this through the trusted folks at either Adorama or B&H, both in NY. Web searches will help too. The solution is different for various sensors.

Yeah thats what I saw, its at F2.2 :(

What does the clean image sensor do on the camera? Its an option you can select from the menu.

Ninja Edit:

Automatic Image Sensor Cleaning uses an ultrasonic process and exclusive Airflow Control combats the accumulation of dust in front of the image sensor, safeguarding image quality shot after shot.

Check the lens too. Best way to check it but don't freak out...set the camera for f/11 and shoot a solid blue sky or white / cream colored wall then do an auto levels in Photoshop or post processing software. The dust will smack you in the head. Again, don't freak. Some go f/22 but I don't recommend shooting above f/11 anyway (except for macro work). If it's a bright day and I'm at an airshow, I use a ND or CPL Filter. F/11 and higher will introduce defraction on crop body cameras. That's where light to deflect off of the aperture blades making scattered light hit the sensor. .

Does your camera have a cleaning system? If so, leave it on. All my cams have them and they clean whenever I turn them on and then off. Keep the camera level when doing it.

Here's how Canon's works. Google yours. I forget the model you have.

Regardless, you will likely have to wet-clean the sensor at some point. Although mine has been very good and clean for a few years now. I won't mess with either unless I see spots on my images.
