Caught another 10-15 Crappies today. You guys were right it is 9in to keep. I had been telling myself it was 13in for so long. haha Nothing to write home about today, but a great day to be out.

If we ever have a CR outing I'd love to come out. I've never been fishing on a boat, or been on a boat. haha

I've been getting geared up for a month or so for this years fishing trip with my friend (lowridnS10) and his father. Heading up to Northern Michigan (West Drummond Island) mid-August. I'm not sure what I really want to go after this year, so I'm pretty much going to target everything. I figure small mouth will probably be congregating on the numerous sholes. I really want to land a boat full of perch. Walleye sounds like fun as well, if its not too warm. And I wouldn't mind taking home a few salmon either. I suppose I'll go after whatever is biting. A few new toys I've purchased in preparation for this year:

Shimano Tekota 500LC (line counter). Lined with 65lb Power Pro Depth Hunter braid. Will be my trolling setup for walleye and salmon.

Mounted on a Shimano Talora 8.5ft Medium-Heavy trolling rod.

Next up is my new Bass/perch rod and reel. Will be a general use spinning setup. Quantum Smoke reel mounted on a St. Croix 6.5ft. Light power Avid series rod. Lined with 15lb. Power Pro Braid. Debating on taking the 15lb. off and swapping it with some 10lb. PP braid I have on another one of my baitcasters. Will most likely run a fluro leader for perch rigs and maybe for dropshotting bass.

Also bought a new ultralight setup to play around with. I took this setup out once in Big Darby Creek and had a blast with it. Trying to get some of the larger fish in with it can be a motherfucker, but it sure is fun. BassPro Tinylite reel mounted on a BassPro Microlite 5' Ultralight rod lined with 4lb./8lb. fluro (two spools). I'm not impressed with the reel clamps they put on the rod. I didn't see them before I bought it, but, they hold better than I expected.

I've been itching to get out but just haven't had the chance.

Went out to Hoover today and ended up with ~30 crappie all released (only 8 or so were keeper sized), but did finally get some shots of the new rig with crate setup and all. Still working out some kinks, but she's getting there.

It was such a busy summer I definatly lost track of this thread.

As far as update, back in May I went on my annual military training with another CR member to Alpena Michigan. We decided to take my fishing boat with us. The base is located on the river flowing into Lake Huron. This is where we spent most of our time fishing and caught the most fish. We did visit a lake nearby that I have pics from. The name was Jack's Pond I believe. I do know that you could see 12+ feet down like you were looking through glass.

It was an amazing time fishing on the river. Unfortunatly, I have not had the boat in the water since then. I am itching to go though. I want to catch some small mouth.

Here are some pics of a few fish we caught. Most of my pics are of fish he is holding or caught. He might be able to provide more.

Obviously some were just bigger than bait fish but thats all of the pictures I had of the catches. I was too busy trying to catch more. We fished a good 8 days out of the 14 we were there. I would say there were only 2 days that we struggles getting good catches. I believe he caught the pike on small Mepps type spinners as well as a few bass. All of my bass was caught on a $'' bright green broken back minnow.
