Das Borgen
Sounds good, similar to the unobtrusive sound of the TRD exhaust. I did really love the engine note from that TRD exhaust today...I didn't much hear stuff from the intake tube...... I'm indifferent to it
Farkas
I was signed up for the session early this morning and couldn't make it at all. I work overnight shifts and was simply too tired, and barely made it home.

While he was in the side seat, he tried to listen for the in-cabin intake noise and heard nothing special.
Xyster101
Here is a video of my wife and I at the FR-S event. She did it in roughly 1 min. Not bad for her first ever auto cross event driving thing. The last 20 seconds are the best if you don't want to watch it all.

Draco-REX
So, I had been hearing something that sounded like an exhaust leak. Thought it was the flange between the new system and the OEM pipe. Turns out one of the flanges further back lost a bolt entirely! I think it may not have been re-torqued after they were adjusting the system. After putting in a new bolt, all the little things that I didn't quite like were fixed! It sounds much better now. Draco-REX
Well, looks like the WedsSports have been delayed for another week or two. So no pics of them yet. Let's hope it really is a week or two delay, and not MONTHS like the Volks were. This is why I wanted to buy something in stock...

spoolin_s14
I was asking my toyota district rep the other day about the plans on forced induction for the fr-s/brz. He said they are currently working on it in the r&d dept. but are having issues due to blowing gaskets. he said that the direct injection system requires higher compression numbers than turbo's like. They were trying to lower the compression ratio but then were having issues with the injection system not working properly. Not to say it can't be done, but for the factory engineer's it's just not right enough for them

I'm sure the biggest challenge in engineering a FI FR-S/BRZ is getting it to pass emissions. You would not believe who owns the shop car. :megusta: Apparently not. I thought it was Don. Not to say it can't be done, but for the factory engineer's it's just not right enough for them I don't think that rep knows what he's talking about. Sure, the compression ratio is higher but that's due to the direct injection allowing it to be, but not because of it. The fuel pressure is very high in the DI fuel rail and since the high pressure fuel pump is cam driven it means the fuel flow is linear, meaning the system may not be able to supply enough fuel if there is a high amount of airflow at low RPM's. However, the Toyota system also has a supplimental port injection fuel system that could be used to "fill in the gaps" when the DI system is not up to snuff. Then again, the GM 2.0L turbo Ecotec (260 HP/260 ft-lbs) is able to push 500 HP on the stock fuel system, so the Toyota engineers probably just suck. In fact even just a down pipe will cause it to drop dangerously lean at random. Nothing a few hundred bucks doesn't cure though.

Nothing a few hundred bucks doesn't cure though. Yeah, at the time the GM pump was one of the biggest on the market. I was in contact with APR at one time about the GM engine and learned that the VW and Mazda pump internals were the same, but the GM pump was quite different and had a larger bore. Also, the GM pump has a bypass valve inside that is used to control the pressure in the rail. A few tuners have hacked the ECU to allow control of this valve and allowing fuel pressure increases, which is needed over 400 HP. The VW/Mazda pump may (and probably does) have this type of valve too, but I don't kow if the tuners gained control of it, plus their pumps are smaller.
