CRed05
My ID is about to expire towards the end of the month, and Ohio's new ID is going to be a Safe ID, meaning that you won't be able to get it over the counter, it will be mailed to you. If I need to get a new ID, I might as well get the Safe ID so that I don't have to go through the whole process again in a few months, especially since regular ID's won't be accepted at airports anymore. Has anyone had to deal with this yet or know when you can apply for the new ID? I'm not really getting the information I'm looking for here: http://www.bmv.ohio.gov/safeid.stm
paktinat
especially since regular ID's won't be accepted at airports anymore. Not until 2017. If anyone else was wondering why they had to be mailed, they are manufactured out of state according to the dispatch.
CRed05
Not until 2017. I thought it was end of 2014. On December 1, 2014, federal agencies will no longer accept state driver licenses or identification cards for "official" purposes from individuals born after December 1, 1964, unless they are Real ID compliant. Richard Cranium
"*The only exception to this are those individuals born after December 1, 1964, who currently hold what is called a legacy license or identification card (traditional) with an expiration date that occurs after the December 1, 2014 deadline. These licenses and identification cards will be accepted until they expire. " The way I read it, a standard license/ID is good until it expires. Akula
And they will always accept a passport so I am good.
CRed05
And they will always accept a passport so I am good. I'd rather not start bringing my passport with me for domestic flights :dumb: Besides, I still have the old style license before they switch to the gay salmon colored ones. So if I can just jump to the new ones and skip the salmon ones all together, that would be great.
