Are any of you guys bored?

Scott, if you like driving why not do a few road trips? See the country, try new things. I know time can be a limiting factor but it would be a fun way to use the cars you love and break the monotony for you (and the wifey). Don't wait for a cruise or Power Tour or anything like that...just take a long weekend and pick some destinations to drive to.

If Petrolicious has taught me anything, it's that old guys still rocking the cars they've owned and love for multiple years seem to be the happiest. :)

If it's too far to drive from a pain in the back/butt standpoint, look for some cheap flights and take a long weekend to check out somewhere new. You will surprise yourself with the adventures you'll have just grabbing a cheap hotel room and seeing sights in places you've never been before. NYC, Boston, FL, Seattle, Cali, Las Vegas, Texas, Chicago...

So while this is a good idea and I don’t want to disagree because I think there is some roads trip I haven’t thought of, I’m not super keen on it. Over the last 4-5 years I traveled a decent amount for training. I’ve been to New York (didn’t like it at all), been to Chicago (not all bad, but I’ve seen it), went to Spring Hill Tennessee were I checked out the Corvette museum on the way, been to Richmond Virginia (kinda dull, unless you want shot), been to Detroit (kind of interesting if you’re careful), been to Harrisburg PA (pretty damn boring), so I've been around most typical driving distances (and on someone else’s dime). So maybe I’m a little tired of all the driving, and I can’t stand the idea of leaving my dog somewhere so then my wife can’t go.

I know it sounds like a bunch of excuses but sometime very soon I’m supposed to go to Vegas for C8 training so I will be traveling whenever the details get worked out. Hopefully I’ll be able to work a vacation day or something into this trip so I can check it out beyond a couple hours outside of class. I am looking forward to that.

I also have tickets to see Lewis Black, then Kathleen Madigan, then Slayer this fall so it’s not like I’m doing nothing at all. I really miss the days when I really looked forward to Friday night and Saturday when I knew I’d see friends and have fun, just seems like another day of the week most of the time anymore.

Probably not the healthiest hobby, but I’ve gotten into bourbons this year. It’s already introduced me to a different way of using my senses, learn something completely new to me, introduced me to some new and interesting people that I’d never be able to meet otherwise, and I’ve gotten cool freebies like this.

How about a part time job or volunteer work? The PT job would give you something to do a few nights a week and some extra cash for vacations.

Or have you looked at Columbus State for any classes that may interest you? There used to be grants or programs for people over 30 who go back to school. I remember I took a photography class a long time ago and learned a lot.

I haven't been bored in almost 10 years, not since my two younger kids were born. I've always got shit going on between them, work, my workouts / hockey, etc. And I've still got a solid 10 years until they are out of the house...

I appreciate the perspective. Glad that you've definitely done some travelling; I shake my head when I meet some people that have never lived/moved out of Ohio that don't at least travel.

You could volunteer somewhere.

Great idea. Not sure if there's any sort of community organization your wife is also interested in? Might be fun to do something together. Habitat for Humanity, Mid-Ohio Food Bank...

could film porn with ur wife n upload it to pornhub communities

Ayyyy...technically this IS an option...

My Mom is a member of the teachers union and has suggested some college classes to me also because they would be free. Not sure what I’d have enough interest in. Without some serious interest in something it would just be a waste of time.

You shouldn't have refinanced your house, you should have sold it and profited like w talked about. Get some land, enjoy life, shoot things, go riding, etc.

Of course we move out to the country and no one wants to come visit anymore. Scott. Ahem :D

Man...I was just out in Avondale last weekend for my daughter's softball tournament and we had like 3 hours to kill between games. I was going to call you and look in my phone and at some point I've lost your number.
