I informed my company on Friday that I am leaving effective 3/14.

I did give them an option to pay to retain me as a (very) part time consultant for 90 days to ease the transition.  50/50 if I want to stay on as a consultant or just be done.  Wheels are in motion.

Congratulations, wish I could have retired at your age. Have fun picking out a new bike.

I retired last year and bought a retirement bike too, it's been a blast.

Thanks man

My retirement bike will be the same brand as yours...just slower.

If I was on Tod's bike and he was on a dirtbike.... he's still faster. 😆

I appreciate that vote of confidence but know it's not true.

Add 100 pounds to my bike, take away about 75 horsepower, change my sport bike tires to sport touring tires and we would be riding side by side at least until my bike ran out of gas way before yours.

Congrats Jim!  You won't regret it.  Been a useless male drone since 2006.  Still having fun.

And...every day is Saturday!

 bought myself a new MT-09.IMG_20250509_114438428_HDR.jpg

I've never owned an inline bike (but all nakeds)and I test rode an early mt-09 but is it normal to see straight through the frame or is there usually something important there? Did their engineers move something to make the air filter harder to reach?

I watched a video that showed how to change the air filter, seemed pretty straight forward.   It's not due until 24k (same as valves), so I have some time before I have to worry about it.

2 MT-09s weigh about the same as a Goldwing 🐖

And 2 of them have as many cylinders as a Goldwing. 😜

The folks I know that have an I3 love them and talk about them so much that I'm going to have to ride one.

We bought a used travel van for dog show trips a couple weeks ago. Now I'm spending all my free time making stuff to turn it into a Mutt Hutt dog transportation vehicle. I'm also fixing all the things that fall off and rattle enough to be extremely annoying. Good thing I'm not working and can get right on these things on my schedule only thing is the boss is very demanding.

After 30 years at the Post Office, I retired at the end of April.  They offered 15k USD for people eligible, to go find something else to do.  I'm still waiting on what is called an "undeleted" DD214.  I was told it could take eight to ten weeks to get it from the VA archives.  The P.O. is getting tired of waiting for me to send it.  I'm getting tired of waiting for it to show up.  The VA still has not processed my request.  Until then, the P.O. will not process my retirement.

What am I doing with my time?  I'm staying up late, sleeping late, and relaxing.  I need a routine but I'm not ready for one, yet.  I have access to a half-acre, double city lot with a 20x24 block building with a walk thru door, and a roll up door.  Urban farming is becoming real trendy, and I've been doing a lot of studying about farming/market gardening.  I should be getting a nice lump sum for my unused vacation, plus ten of the fifteen k they have promised.  There is a farmers market two miles from where I'll be growing onions and lettuce, carrots and greens, and quick to mature produce.  I'll take the money and purchase a two wheel walk behind tractor with interchangeable implements.  If I can make enough to pay property taxes and buy a new bike, I'll be happy.
