Hoblick
this is something i probably wont pick up for atleast a year.but... what is a nice track bike to pick upmy plan is to pick up a salvaged title bike..with cosmetic damages.and go from there.the more i ride the twisties the more i enjoy it.and id rather get out on the track and be safe then get hit by a car or run into a guard rail or something. APCh8r
not really, i picked up my R6 last season due to it being highly recommend as the best pick for a track bike. Highly used in the racing circuit so plenty of parts, great power on the top end and handle well.
warpspeed
+1 for the r6 as a track bike. Seems its more race orientated with the power all above 10K rpms
DudeAbides
Seems R6 or gsxr, both are used by many which equals lots of good deal and availability of parts. I'd hate to make my F4i a track bike especially with parts for the other two flying all over.
Hoblick
i loved my 04 R6, but it was a steep earning curve do to the powerband be way high in the revs.very odd coming from a CBR 954RR
justin0469
most people seem to say a 600 or 750 is the way to go on the track and is probably user preference because the minor differences in power and agility will be lost on even the "average" track rider. everyone says to check out the WERA boards for good deals on track/wrecked bikes. EagleCock
if you get an r6 make sure it comes with at least 2 spare motors.gixxer = teh track bike/thread

exSRAaron
congrats on deciding to get one in the future...I'd say get w/e you want. I'd say 600RR, R6, or GSXR tho. Or try and get an SV650 and pimp it out.

vw151
I went with a GSX-R750 for the track. I'd recomend looking through the classifieds on the WERA board to get an idea of what people are tracking. Also a good place to find a track bike (salvage title and maybe already with race parts). cbrjess0815
i rode Brandon's 07 750 at grattan this weekend and it was pretty damn fun. My bike does great on the track too though.. any of the modern 600cc bikes will be a good choice truthfully..
Chrisoh
if you get an r6 make sure it comes with at least 2 spare motors.gixxer = teh track bike/thread+1Plenty of spare blown motors out there in Ohio and MIAnd +1 for a 650 to really learn on. Even my 03 600 power caught me a few times. Edited July 6, 2009 by Chrisoh
