ReconRat
Saw this and had to rub it in. British survey to find the top 100 current road bikes. My 919s are 8th out of 100. The Brits really like that bike. Beat only by what you see. Two of which aren't available in the US. Not surprising that the Brits also like the Triumphs. Also noticed the insurance for a 919 is high over there. But it's an interesting list of what is popular and available in the Euro market place, as compared to here. And that should change in the future. One of the primary reasons we did not get bikes that are designed and sold in Europe, was that the emission controls were different between here and there. That is all changing, and the newer designs meet both requirements. I would expect to see some of those bikes here in the USA, that the Canadians and Europeans can get, that we can't. Only limited by the manufacturer's idiotic decisions about whether a particular model will sell here or not.Top ten of 100: 10 - Honda CBR600RR (04-08)Overall rating: 90%Info: 165mph + 599cc + 107bhp + 45ftlb + Insurance group 15 9 - BMW R1200RT (05-on)Overall rating: 90%Info: 135mph + 1170cc + 110bhp + 85ftlb + Insurance group 11 8 - Honda CB900F Hornet (01-on)Overall rating: 90%Info: 135mph + 919cc + 110bhp + 63ftlb + Insurance group 15 7 - Honda VFR400R (86-92)Overall rating: 91%Info: 130mph + 399cc + 59bhp + 40ftlb + Insurance group 12 6 - KTM Super Duke 990 (05-on)Overall rating: 91%Info: 151mph + 999cc + 120bhp + 73ftlb + Insurance group 15 5 - Triumph Speed Triple 1050 (05-on)Overall rating: 91%Info: 150mph + 1050cc + 128bhp + 78ftlb + Insurance group 13 4 - Suzuki RGV250 (89-97)Overall rating: 92%Info: 127mph + 249cc + 55bhp + 29ftlb + Insurance group 12 3 - Triumph Daytona 675 (06-on)Overall rating: 93%Info: 156mph + 675cc + 126bhp + 54ftlb + Insurance group 16 2 - Triumph Street Triple (05-on)Overall rating: 93%Info: 141mph + 675cc + 123bhp + 53ftlb + Insurance group 14 1 - Ducati 1098 (07-on) Overall rating: 94%Info: 180mph + 1099cc + 160bhp + 90ftlb + Insurance group 17 http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/Top-100-Bikes/top-bikes-1-10/?id=121351
Uncle Punk
This is a survey and not reflective of what is actually popular by sales numbers.Manufactures can make mistakes on their predictions but they have a lot of history to draw from for the predictions. Yamaha FJs come to mind when they couldn't sell them in the late 80s early 90s so they made you order the new models because dealers wouldn't stock them after they got stuck with the old ones. A strong loyal following does not equal enough profit for the manufacturer to jump through all the hoops to bring a model to market.
Uncle Punk
As evident by their love of Triumphs.
buildit
They must not sell Suzuki V-stroms or Kawasaki KLR's over there.
ReconRat
They must not sell Suzuki V-stroms or Kawasaki KLR's over there. The V-Strom is on the list of 100, as well as the SVs. The KLR is too off road or dual sport to be included, I guess.

the_silverfox
#4 and #7 were awesome...you can't even get those bikes here in the States. Props to the 919...still one of the most agile naked bikes I've ever ridden.Ok, my FJR made it to #26. Not too shabby for a giant sport tourer...beat out a few Bimmers. Uncle Punk
Poll has to be broken unless the European market is totally different than ours. Three cruisers out of 100 bikes, 25, 57 & 86 is just wrong. Cruisers are 50% of our market here and I don’t hold what the damn foreigners like as a measuring stick for what is good for us over here anyway. This is a survey not a validation of a bikes popularity by sales, besides the CBR1000RR didn't win so I know they were all wrong.
ReconRat
When I was in Germany and Austria, I didn't see any cruisers at all. And I saw lots of bikes, almost all standards. I did hear a few rental Harleys off in the distance one night though.
jnor
"Cruisers" are not popular at all in Europe. Although here it is claimed that they make up 75% of the market...... I never will understand why "standard" bikes are not the most popular...i.e. the 919 FZ1, Bandit etc. Great ergo's, good power/handling..... NinjaNick
I'm at 23 for the distorted Euro version.
C-bus
This survey is wrong as it places my beloved FZ6 at 87 right behind a HD Sportster. I am also a member of the FZ6 forum and know for a fact that the fazer is regarded world-wide as the fastestest, greatest, most coveted bike on the planet. Earache
I never will understand why "standard" bikes are not the most popular...i.e. the 919 FZ1, Bandit etc. Great ergo's, good power/handling.....Because they always have crap suspension and handle like shopping carts with a bad wheel when pushed.Wish they'd put one out with top of the line suspension components for a change. But then the price point would probably be too high and they'd sell even less to beginner riders.
oldschoolsdime92
I figured my sprint would be alittle higher than what it is.
Ron505
What in the hell are there 3 Harley's in there for? Wow. Talk about a bad handling bike.
LINK
Wow...No Buell listed in the top 100, I would think at least one of their models over the years would have made the list across the pond.
