chevysoldier
It's one thing to die from gun fire or a mortar in combat. It's another to make the split second decision to use your body to cover a grenade to save your brothers. This man knew he would die but to him it was the only option. There is no greater love than that. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. He is deserving of so much more...Petty Officer Michael A. Monsoor was killed in battle in Iraq in September 2006, and posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor in April. His funeral in Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego was attended by “nearly every SEAL on the West Coast,” President Bush said.During the service, as Monsoor's coffin was taken from the hearse to the gravesite, Navy SEALs lined up in two columns. As the coffin passed, video shows each SEAL slapping down the gold Trident from his uniform and deeply embedding it in Monsoor's wooden coffin. The slaps were reportedly heard across the cemetery.Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,376243,00.html#ixzz1HrGNbyn2I urge you to watch this video. Near the end you see the men paying their respects to their fallen comrade. This is taking place in Iraq. buildit
Impossible to understand unless you are at that moment. God bless his passing and honor his sacrifice he made for others.
Jst2fst
To hear soldiers sacrifice themselves to save others is sad and courageous. As one gives their life to save others around them. RIP Soldier and Thank You for your service.

Gump
Great man. Off topic but how does the military take care of his family when something like this happens? They better get more than the welfare we r all paying for.

Gump
They should get more. I'd rather direct more money to situations like this than pay for the freeloader welfare lifers.
