Oh well yea my parents bought me a Escort..LOL

my parents "allowed" me to buy my dad's '93 Probe GT (5 speed) from him for $2,500.

I put $1,000 down and paid $100/month. I don't remember exactly how many miles it had when I bought it from my dad, but I know for certain it had rolled 111,111 before I took ownership.

I retired it with 168,000 miles on the clock. That WAS my supercar.

Comparable as in, expensive motorcycles?

MV Agusta, Desmosedici RR, OCC Custom Chopper, MTT Y2K, Vintage Indians, Vintage Vincents... though putting 'vintage' in front of Vincent is kind of redundant

(I'd say the same for Indian too, but Polaris is planning to come out with late model bikes with that branding here shortly)

I'm not condoning what these kids did at all, but come on! Your honestly going to tell me...at that age, with that kind of money...in that situation. You wouldn't have done the same thing?

Again, i don't condone it all. Completely stupid, completely irresponsible. But, at that age with the chance to do something incredibly stupid in cars like those, who wouldn't have been a front runner for the Darwin Awards?

I'm going out on a limb and guessing that most of the kids involved were of Asian decent. Vancouver is full of rich Asians that came over just before Hong Kong wS turned over to the Chinese. I saw a lot of this last time I was there. No racial connotations, just a statement.

I will admit it, I was doing crazy stuff at that age. I would drift a Plymouth Horizon and a Ford Escort on old gravel roads at speeds neither of the cars should have been doing on a paved surface.

I miss that escort, I did some crazy things to that car. Putting racing slicks that stuck out 4 inches on that back of it I think was my favorite.

Man, I had to buy my own '73 Capri with my saved-up paper route monies.

Guess I shoulda picked my parents better. Just kidding, Mom and Dad - love ya, RIP.

Glad they didn't spoil me - makes me value what I do have that I've worked for and earned maybe just a little more.

Man I'm jealous my first supercar was a Canary yellow 73 ford Pinto and I was doing 75 + miles per hour with 6 people in the car as fast we could get that thing to go everywhere we went.

Bad move on those youngsters part but most of us all done some dumb things in our younger years.
