  1. I was supposed to stay off the bike for a month after a pair of surgeries I had. Couldn’t stand it and cut that a bit short and took a spin in the Valley yesterday. It was great to get out and the bike appreciated the attention and use. Stopped for a sandwich and beer, and then later at a great spot off Riverview to stretch and walk a bit. Then back to my Father’s.

  3. Stopped at a light in Concord NH. Cop pulls up beside me and looks over. I tapped like hell on the top of my helmet. He lost it.

  6. Pic from the whale trip and St. johns. St. Johns is a great town. They have a 10 block long party street. Right by our hotel. Family friendly party. Restaurants, bars, tons of shops. Great time. I did get a shot of the whale and a crappy video. It was when we were still far away. As we got close I stopped taking any.

  11. Forks being refreshed. Tires, front pads, oil change, coolant flush happening this week. Mirror situation was handled first thing. Ordered a new fuel fill cap, too. This one is a little too bedazzled for my archaic sensibilities.

  14. I know a guy, but he is 2 hours from Mansfield. He is the only person I trusted to service my Ducs in the past. He might be available for the right amount of money. What does the dealer charge for this job nowadays, anyway?

  16. Ferry ride is over. Parked in North Sydney NS tonight. I have come to realize that as the author of this thread I have a responsibility to meet the desires of the reading audience. So here are some scenery shots from the ferry ride.

  17. Whale hunting was epic! Two schools of dolphins, and we found mother and calf hump back whales!! Mom did multiple full vertical launches, totally out of the water. She was huge! Tons of tail flips. No pics, too busy living the moment. It was amazing.

  19. Oh, and no matter what they say, the wireless Internet does not work at sea. It's always broke I was told. And it was a very calm ride. Honestly we probably didn't need to tie the bikes down.

  20. I am assuming you are doing the North Sydney to Aux Port Basque run. Try and get the midnight to 7 am ferry and get a cabin and sleep. If you don't you end up spending the night before nearby, ride the noon to 6 pm and basically drive to another hotel. The night run seems to sell out pretty far in advance so plan ahead. If you are doing North Sydney to St Johns that is 16 hours, so you damn well better get a cabin. We had to take the noon run. Still got a cabin. Well worth it, you can get away from everyone and have at sea sex. Food and whatnot is actually pretty good. There is a bar too. You will be tempted to get there early. Don't bother. Loading won't start until 90 minutes before departure. They want you there 2 hours ahead, so 2 hours and 1 minute is more than enough. Lots of people came well after the 2 hour warning. All in all, it was a very enjoyable time except tying down the bike. Their straps blew dead goats. The ratchets were corroded with salt and you had to fight them. Plus I had to do it twice, old French dude in front of me had no idea what he was doing. There are moose everywhere you look.

  21. Just got tires mounted on the new MT09. Decided to try the new Bridgestone T33 due to their lofty claims. I am seriously impressed with the handling and power delivery. The front suspension is fantastic, and it pulls out of corners like a freight train. I added a Puig Touring Screen and a T-Rex center stand. I'm considering adding a top box, but if I do it would be hard to justify keeping the BMW R1200R and after riding it for 40k I have little interest in parting with it.

  23. Foggy, very cool and damp slab ride to northern NS. We are parked for the night right next to where we grab the ferry in the morning. Wife was very uncool and would not let me repel off the 12th floor of yesterdays hotel.

  30. We got the Flux Capacitor signed a couple years ago by Michelle J Fox, Christopher Loyd and Tom Wilson (Biff). You can see the silver signatures by each light. Just to the right of the Flux you can see a blue card with a silver piece in the middle. That is part of one of the 3 original cars from the movies.

  34. Well that was a nightmare. Went through the transmission TWICE. Replaced everything inside except the shafts and drums and it was STILL dumping glitter in the pan. Got sick of having to drive a Chevy Cruze so I picked up a junkyard 4Lslippe out of a 2002 Silverado, been running it for 2 weeks now without any issues. All I did to it was swap over my valve body, bell housing, servo, and put in a sonnax boost valve. Going to setup a camera and do a tear down video of the transmission so maybe someone smarter than me can point out where I screwed up. While I was poking around the junkyard with a friend looking for a transmission I accidentally picked up a LQ4 out of a 05 Yukon Denali and a set of 799 heads off a NNBS 5.3 It all needs a good clean, engine doesn't look like any bearings are hurt but the pickup tube Oring was rock hard and cracked when I pulled the pan after getting it home, turns over freely, makes good compression with leaky valves, cylinders are all glazed but overall I think it'll be a great engine for a 400whp goal. Going to try my hand at porting the 799 heads, only got them for the 64cc chambers to get the compression up to 10.4:1 without changing the pistons or milling the heads down, also been reading on porting the BBK intake, has a lot of potential. For the engine build, it's going to be pretty much the exact same setup I had with the L76 in the G8. So mainly just a summit 8715 cam, BTR springs, morel lifters, and then I'll also freshen up the engine new bearings, oil pump, timing set, new seals, hone the cylinders, new rings.. Again truck is doing great with the junkyard trans. 2 weeks of commuting, one trip to Chillicothe and back and one trip to prairie oaks to kayak. Chillicothe trip trans got up to about 160-170 by the time I pulled into the garage, this was with no air scoop, after reinstalling the "scoop" I made out of the fuel tank skid tray? The trip to prairie oaks and back saw a hard stop at 132°. Knowing the scoop functions as intended, I need to get a sheet of stainless and weld up a proper scoop similar to how the aftermarket heat exchangers are setup for the sy/ty
