  1. I do, I just don't do the group rides. Don't like all the stops, pace, sightseeing, waiting for half the group, and eating. I ride the Gap numerous times and a select few of the surrounding roads with our group of 3 and 4. Most complain about our pace and risks and we don't wanna be responsible for others going down so we go on our own. Just looks like we don't ride because we don't leave and dawn and come back at dark, fuck all that.

  2. I was resting up from a 1000 mile camp-and-ride. Does a handful of ibuprofen and 9 hours of sleep count?

  3. I pulled out of the driveway at 3:00pm. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to go. No time to send out invites. So, I went. Took the scenic route. Down OH-13, off onto Linnville road, across Rt 40, 204 to Glennford, and 757 to Somerset. This is where I picked up the route for the Epic Ride. 668 through Junction City, right on 93, and on into Logan. Went to Kroger and filled up. Popped into Dairy Queen to take a leak, then jumped on the bike and took off. It was around 5:00pm by then. 93 to 56, 691. Got to Nelsonville and things got fuzzy. Went under Rt 33 and stopped. Something wasn't right. Missed a turn. Looking for Old US-33. Turned around and found it back down at the bottom of the hill. Should have turned left. Marked "Business". Watch for it. Traffic light there. Long way around though. Better for me to have gone straight, onto 78, point D to F, instead of D,E,F. Must be a gas stop in there I don't know about. Burr Oak, zig zag at Happy Hollow, and I'm on 78 to 685. Found 13, and back on 78. Gassed at Malta. Sun was dropping fast. Jumped on 669 and hoped the river wasn't over the road somewhere. Almost got my tires wet. Hope it doesn't rain much before the ride. May need a detour. 669 all the way back to Somerset. Up 13, back into town. Pulled in driveway at 8:30. Man, my neck is sore. Don't see how you crotch rocket guys can ride for a long time with your head up like that. Thought I went through a place called Coolville. Road was down to one lane with a red light just after the curve. Be on your toes for that. It really sneaks up on you. Just after the red light, there is a curve full of stones from the construction. That's another scary spot. Neck hurts like hell. .

  4. Cinco de Mayo has come and gone and as far as I can tell, nobody made an ass of themselves on here for our entertainment. I'm not mad at you, I'm just disappointed.

  5. I've rode down and back maybe ten times, done it on both bikes. FJR makes it easier, we rocket down on the slab 5 or so hours and your there. It's not for everyone, Dieing Shadow and Karl rode back with my crew last year. They hung in but it was rough going. We're leaving early 6/5/14 join us if you want.

  6. I did a little scout ride today of the route all the way up to 669 (I took 78 instead of grabbing 555/669). Not sure if anyone has figured out the logistics of the gas stop but here are my thoughts based on what I've found: Shell station on E. Canal is closedBP station on E. Canal is closedThere is a Turkey Hill and a Speedway on E. Canal both with 12 pumpsThe route will take us up Burr Oak Blvd to Buchtel where there is a 12 pump Marathon station out of the way.If you're leading a group and see both stations on Canal are full of bikes, keep following the route up Burr Oak Blvd. to the Marathon station.

  7. Why can't you just ride your bike to the trailering meet up, load it then and car pool down? When you get back just unload and ride home.

  8. Are you kidding? I've never known Todd to ride unless it's above 75 degrees with less than 10% humidity and a light south-westerly breeze

  11. Ask MJ about riding down lol. Trailer down to enjoy the time there more. Can't haul all your food and supplies. Break down. Wicked flat spot on your tires etc. Other than Rollinhot everybody else that rode down for this annual trip only did it once and said not again.

  12. Take the time and ride all back roads. Take a few days to get there, a few days there, and a few days to get home. That's the way to do it. Fuck the highway...

  13. Riding down probably wont be a problem for you, but I would ask yourself if you can enjoy the riding down there and still be able to make the 300+ miles back home.

  14. It's 525 miles for me, Home to Hotel. I ride it several times a year and I am 54 or so. Ride it. Don't have to be boring, cut across 62 from C-Bus to Lexington. It's a very nice ride scenery wise...all the HUGE horse farms...and only adds 20 minutes to the trip. Plus you don't have to risk your life going through Cincy.

  15. Ride home at 3 am a couple nights last week. I only have summer gloves so I had to stop by walmart and pick up some umbrella bags to cut the chill so my hands would work. Talk about looking like a crazy person at walmart.

  16. If your max is 300, imagine how sore you'd be after 400 boring Highway miles, and how long it'd take you to recuperate.

  17. In a 2-1 decision in September 2006, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit ruled in United States v. Curtis Ellison that random plate checks are not an unconstitutional invasion of privacy and that "so long as the officer had a right to be in a position to observe the defendant's license plate, any such observation and corresponding use of the information on the plate does not violate the Fourth Amendment." Ellison appealed the decision, but last October the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear the case, letting the appeals' decision stand as the current law of the land. In its decision, the court joined virtually every other federal jurisdiction in saying individuals have no reasonable expectation of privacy when it comes to license plate numbers. The courts in the Tenth Circuit - in two separate rulings - the Fifth Circuit, the Eighth Circuit, and the Ninth Circuit all made similar determinations, and in both 2000 and 2003 the Sixth Circuit itself OK'd random computer checks of license plates without probable cause or even heightened suspicion.

  21. Running plates is not illegal or an intrusion on your rights. Operating a mc without a proper endorsement is illegal. I am one of the worst at dealing with someone stepping on my rights, but I see no issue with the way this LEO handled the situation. Some states and jurisdictions are known for doing just this as well as doing inspection lanes where they often catch a lot of bikers without endorsemtents. Be legal and its no biggie.

  22. Run it up the chain at ODNR. In my experience they are very image focused and pay attention to user feedback. If enough complaints get to this guy's boss' boss' boss, his professional life will become very unpleasant and might yield a behavior modification.

  27. ^^THIS^^ It's not much different than riding with a small group of 4-6 where riders fend for themselves, only our groups are 10-12 riders with designated lead/sweep keeping everyone together. Up to those that would rather not ride with the organized groups, but I don't see much of a difference -- there's inherent danger no matter the group/speed/abilities

  28. May 10th is our second open house of the season! Food will be served at noon and the Shoei helmet winner will be picked at 3pm! We'll have 15% off all parts and accessories like we do for all our open houses. If weather permits we'll even have a few Yamaha demos set up! Have a great week and hopefully we'll see you Saturday.

  31. Never do oil changes with your spouse.... lack of communication can cause expensive mistakes. For example mixing the used oil with the new oil in a 5 qt jug. So, make sure you buy double what you need if you plan on an afternoon of oil changes together.
