  3. Bring it to me. I have a quad I'm doing a rebuild on in the garage right now but I can make room for ya. I'll do it for $350 and I'm a hell of a lot closer than Coshocton.

  4. Top end noise usually isn't that expensive to fix. It's normal to find some sediment in oil, cam chain tensioner and sliders are plastic and do wear. If it is the tensioner it's not that bad of a job, will need new tensioner guts, head gasket, and an afternoon or two. Noise could also be valve lash, tho I'm pretty sure that motor is shim under bucket, which don't usually go out of whack, at least not in 20k miles. Other possibilities are wrist pins or piston slap but I seriously doubt it, those motors are built pretty well. Main thing is to not panic, anything mechanical can be fixed and engines are surprisingly simple inside once you get past the initial anxiety of the unknown.

  6. Date is officially June 12th, most peeps are doing the 5 day trip. Thursday through Monday. Official countdown clock: http://tinyurl.com/kyd4dpx Five day trip: Thursday departure, apx. 1043 miles to Chamberlain, SD. 15.5 hours plus stops. http://goo.gl/maps/zdvmD Friday, Mt. June 14 SUPER 8 MURDO 604 E 5th, 1-90 Exit 192, Murdo, SD 57559-0220 US http://tinyurl.com/nu9wkdd Sun. June 15 Still pondering where to stop. I would like to get past Chicago to avoid Monday morning rush. Might just wing it and grab something as we go along. MAKE SURE THE RIGHT DATES ARE SELECTED AND THE RIGHT HOTEL. THE LINKS ARE GOOFY. STURGIS MICHIGAN MAY COME UP FOR EXAMPLE. We will meet at the Service Plaza on the Ohio turnpike just west of I 77 at mile marker 170.1 Be there, gassed up and ready to roll at 4:30 AM. We will pick up Earache at the Petro Truckstop at exit 357 on I 69. That is one exit north of the Indiana turnpike and just a few hundred feet east of I 69 on N. Baker Rd. Our Cleveland group should arrive there at 7:30 AM. Outbound we take the southern route to avoid Thursday morning Chicago traffic. Homeward we take the northern route for Kringles at Mars Castle near Kenosha Wi Rules of engagement (subject to updating after group input) 1) Break downs. We are f'ing bikers riding together. If someone's stuff breaks we will stay there until that rider dismisses us...and really means it. a) You are expected to have a road worthy bike and the financial ability to get yourself out of trouble. If that means renting a U-Haul and buying wood for a ramp then so be it. We will let you ride bitch to the U-Haul store and help you build a ramp of course. Hint: Trip Interruption insurance is like 15 bucks a year. 2) We will speed, sometimes a little (Illinois) and sometimes more, but not insane. Expect 7-10 over most of the time. I need to do more research on the limits and cops west of Illinois. 3) Gas stops will be 100 to 125 but will be very quick with an extended lunch stop. 4) There will be no drama between riders, or I will leave you on the side of the freeway. I have done that, but only once. I don't do drama. I will do things that will annoy you, you will do things that annoy me. Tough, get over it. 5) Be on time each day at the start. That will annoy me and I won't get over it. Going for sure on a 5 day trip: HeavyDuty, Me, Connie14, Al Z. Heimer +1, PhilD'oh!, 2talltim Mrs. Tonik approved so non-Cleveland peeps can bunk at our house on Wednesday night if they wanted to leave Thursday with the main group.

  10. Every day of my life too. I agree, its ok enough when someone just makes assumptions unless they're trying to screw me over. I've embarrassed a few mechanics who have tried to trick me into expensive repairs that I didn't need. oh, traditional gender roles, lol. I'm gonna go do the laundry now.

  12. What do you know about the sprocket? If you have the chain type..520, 525, 530 Front and rear sprocket size (number of teeth) We can help! Not sure where you are located but there has to be a board member close who will assist with the installation and teach you how this process works. I highly recommend replacing your chain and sprockets at the same time. I would also use a steel rear sprocket, as there is no benifit to using aluminum on the street, other than buying more sprockets.

  13. just invite a bunch of us over. We will gladly test-ride your bike for a few hours, then stand around drinking beer while we listen to the bike idle in your driveway and give our best guesses as to what might be causing it

  20. First cutting report, this mower kicks ass!. 3.5 hours on the clock to do what took me 7 - 8 in the past. The cut quality is amazing and the underside of the deck was 95% clean after cutting grass that was between 7- 10 inches tall. It came with a full flotation seat, very similar to air ride seats in semi's, that is adjustable to your weight. It makes the ride very comfortable for a yard that has some rough spots.

  24. Yeah, stay calm for now. An engine that is running with strange noises is still running. That means nothing vital has failed. Yet. It's easy for me to armchair quarterback this and tell you to pull the motor, crack the cases, and inspect everything... But you're probably safer starting small. Still, if you can take it apart, I'm sure someone here can help you get it back together!
