  3. Helmutt, snot and I ventured to mid ohio on 7/18 Rode my first mid ohio PTR... Mid ohio ran a fantastic novice program. Learned a lot. The people were great. Huge props to them. Heres one of my novice sessions. I started out in group 6, because I'd never been on mid ohio before. The CR told me to move to a faster group. I spoke with the guy running the novice group, and he told me to meet him in hot pit for the next session. We ran a session between group 2 and 3 and then ran a session behind group 1. He then threw at me we were going out in front of group 1, and thats what him and I did the rest of the day. Heres the first session him and I went out ahead of group one. My lines aren't perfect, but I sure had fun. The SV is way more fun on the track than I ever imagined.

  6. Cool. Those will be bikes like the Hawk GT and others that in 15 years people will say, "How come more people didn't buy these?" For me, it was the $. As mentioned, time solves that problem.

  12. I've had reservations about these since they came out, but curiosity got the better of me. It also helped that I found a smoking deal on a used VFR1200 (normal gearbox) with hard bags. I like it a lot more than I expected. What's good about these just doesn't stand out on a spec sheet. The chassis is the high light. It's uber stable in high speed sweepers. Handling is totally neutral with predictable steering. It's capable of knee dragging.Build quality is through the roof. Even better than other Honda'sYou can throw a leg over it for the first time and feel immediately comfortable after just a mile or 2.The 1237cc V4 is deceptively fast. I found myself doing 110 in the highway without trying. It was effortless and just felt like cruising speed. 170hp at the crank. 145-150 rwhp and loads of torque.IMO, It doesn't need to weigh 590lbs (wet), but the weight doesn't affect the handling as much as you would think. If your body doesn't agree with a RR anymore and you can't wrap your brain around a ST1300 yet...you should test ride a VFR12.

  22. SV650 or FZ6 would be my two choices. In addition to them being great bikes, their respective online communities are quite large. Neither bike will be outgrown for a long time.

  26. You probably wouldn't be around to write this post if you hadn't been wearing gear... I will never in my life understand those who are so dead set against it. So glad you're ok.

  27. I cant stand to think about not wearing gear and getting ground up on the pavement should something happen. Glad you are okay. I saw my brother get flipped on a 3 wheeler back in 1986 on a paved road and have skin shaved off this arms and legs...ouch!!! He picked gravel out for weeks to come. Risk vs reward!!! I have leather coat and pants and never ride w/o a lid.

  28. Glad you are okay, I been in OR since last few years, seen and heard of many crashes and all guys walked away with minimal injury and all of them were wearing good gear. This community needs a lot of kudos for instilling such good habits among each other other and saving many lives over the years. I dread the thought, if i got stuck with a "different" kind of non gear wearing riding bunch when i started riding in this country.

  29. Really glad you're okay. I ride with mesh in the hotter weather and textile in the cooler...hmmm. Leather might be worth a look. Also, can't tell if your helmet took a beating too or if that's the design.

  35. To riders such as Vince Herre, the bikes are a status symbol. "I like it just because it's Harley-Davidson," Herre said Finally...someone admitted it. They are just a brand whore.
