  1. ok here is the run down. I bought my 14 Arctic Cat wildcat trail about 5 weeks ago or so. a week later we went to wayne to ride with some people on the forum. We ended up hitting a stump on the trail with the right front that did a lot of damage, then that shot us head on into a tree. Called riders insurance up to start my claim. they don't have an adjuster in ohio, so i told them the closest shop was marysville honda. just so happens they are a preferred estimated which would help move the process quicker. took it down as soon as i could and gave them my claim number. 2 weeks later it was finally done. Let me just say the copy of the estimate they gave me looked pretty badly done, hand written part numbers and dollar amounts, some without a description. they sent that off with 3.. yes 3 photos to riders insurance, they told me to go ahead and just take my vehicle home, because it will probably be totaled, and even if its fixable they are like 3-4 weeks out. 3 days later i have an email from marysville saying that insurance wants more pictures, and if i could just go ahead and take some and send them to them. i called marysville honda immediately and told them, i don't know what pictures they want me to take, so ill load it up and bring it back down. got it down there, and they didn't even want me to take it off the trailer. just snapped a few close up pics of stuff and sent me on the way stating "i don't know what they want pictures of". so a few hours later i get a call from the insurance auditor who is in charge of looking over the estimate and photos and deeming if what is wrote up on the estimate is correct and how to go from there. he's telling me they only sent a total of like 6-8 photos, and only close ups. he needed a lot more and full shots of it so he can see all the damage. he asked me if i could take photos and send them. well at this point i was over bringing it back to marysville to take pictures, because they probably wouldn't have sent as many, or what they needed yet again, prolonging the process. so i spent a good hour or so going over the machine, and taking detailed photos of everything that i could and what he wanted. on top of that i found quite a few huge things damaged that marysville honda didn't right up the estimate, sun as the steering rack was damaged, body deforms on the left side, radiator pushed back into frame bolts, front drive shaft looked crooked because of the twist in the frame, so it or the front differential could be damaged, the steering shaft looked tweaked. so after i got all my pictures i sent riders the email with the description of things i found that was not on the estimate. the ended up totaling the vehicle out. CoParts will be here friday to pick the machine up. so after some thought of if i was gonna get another wildcat, i accessed some other options, and decided that i wanted a Can Am Maverick 1000X XC, its 60" wide, 1000cc Vtwin 101hp.. might not be able to ride at wayne, but i think ill have a little more fun with this one, and the build quality is better on this machine in my opinion. Went down and talked to Sandi at ASK, and she gave me an insane price on a 14 Maverick XXC. doesn't have the one i want in stock, so she had to order. should be here in a week or less. Sandi has taken care of me every time i have been in there. ill be a repeat customer for sure. Marysville Honda needs to get there shit in check. I understand they don't sell arctic cat, but they are a preferred estimator, and i wanted to give them business. and if it was fixable i was originally gonna have them do the job. thats a nice chunk of change swapping a frame and stuff, but yet again i got let down. Riders Insurance handled the claim great, and if it wasn't for marysville slowing the process down, it wouldn't have taken anytime at all for this to be dealt with and over. so if you were ever wondering how they handle claims, i give them a huge thumbs up. everyone i talked to during the process was great, very nice and understanding. more than one phone call from them i got asked if me and the wife were ok from the accident.

  2. That is why you ride all season if it is above freezing and the roads are dry.

  5. I bought one a few years ago to get wife to learn on. You are wrong on every point and I will never try to teach someone on one. Agree completely with what Shawn said. I think you've convinced yourself they're good because it's what you had and you didn't know any different. I've owned or rode most every thing out there and that is one bike I'll never ever recommend.

  6. Brian, I will generally agree. However in this case, Ryan is pretty unbiased and gives good reviews and bad reviews fairly equally on OR. He's a stand up guy and often posts that he's given dealer ABC multiple chances and changed his mind, good or bad. My point is Ryan is a solid reviewer with a good reputation. I put a lot more weight into his reviews than I do many other people or the random yelp review.

  7. In defense of H of M, what may have been the case was that since they are not a dealer for Arctic Cat, they may have just been sending enough pics knowing what they were showing was going to total the machine. Or, they may have figured they were not going to get the job on the unit to repair it and decided that they would do a quick overview and run it through fast and be done. The point is that ASK is a discount dealer and the only reason they are getting a positive review is because they beat anyone else on price. Price alone isn't what makes a dealer good. Not saying they suck, but H of M may have had a few mistakes made on a machine they do not sell and between the insurance company possibly saying take pics of this or that and needing more from the pictures sent, it could be legit and nothing intentional. Rather, not a lack of quality work... That being said, every dealer gets bad reviews only on the website forums out there. So, when you hear "Dealer ABC sucks", think that only people on average complain rather than support or provide positive feedback. And again, don't take it wrong. I think walking out feeling like you've been treated great is awesome and glad to hear a positive review. I just want it to be known for all the dealers that maintain margins, provide solid customer service and maybe not the lowest price are out there and shouldn't be evaluated poorly because they don't give things away... It is a business and maintaining margins is something that isn't a bad word. Otherwise, dealers fade away and that's never good. I've no horse in the race, but feel that sometimes dealers get an unfair shake because of price only and not a true evaluation of customer service and experience...

  8. Freshwater. Walleye is up there too. Catch a bucket of bluegill, cut them up and pan fry them. You will thank me. They're almost sweet tasting.... Like butter.

  15. http://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/fish_marine_pdf/lkwoodmap.pdf Good to check a contour map of an unfamiliar lake. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/87687.html Looks like it has some great fish- "Lake Trout, Rainbow Trout, Northern Pike, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Atlantic Salmon, Lake Whitefish, Bluegill, Brown Bullhead, Black Crappie, Yellow Perch" I'd check with a couple of local bait shops for what kind of live bait to use for whichever kind of fish you want to catch. You can also ask where they tend to bite. Most bait shops will let you know because they want you there buying stuff....lol. I love to use artificial baits for pike, and bass. Pike would take underwater lures (deep divers) and you would need to troll the lake. Bass on the otherhand can be caught on topwater lures in the shallows early (dawn) or late at night (dusk) or even at night. The trouts/salmon usually will require live bait, but you can still fish for them with pretty good success. Worms will catch virtually any of the fish mentioned that are in the lake. Big fish will need heavier gear and heavier line. Panfish, lighter stuff. Bass and pike are in the middle, medium action stuff. Also, best to carry some large nail clippers, good for cutting line and clipping stuff off, a stringer, a good small flashlight, a small knife, a pair of long needlenose pliers, some first aid stuff (band aids, neosporin type stuff...), a good pair of gloves, a hat, bug spray, sun burn stuff...cooler with sammies and drinks, and a good filet knife for fixin your catch up for fryin....I also started skinning my fish after fileting them, eliminated having to scale them, plus they taste better with the skin off, imho, although bluegills taste better with the skins on. Like I said, talk to some of the bait shops local there and do some asking. Usually they are more than helpful. Last but not least, good luck!

  16. Right there! I mean, RIGHT THERE! In your very own neighborhood. I used to go to this club. Check them out before you buy anything. Ask questions. There are so many skills among these guys that anything you would want to know is right there. I think they meet one Saturday, every two months. It was very interesting and educational. I only stopped going because I always had to take a vacation day off work. http://www.wocoweb.org/ Membership includes professional woodworkers, enthusiastic hobbyists, as well as beginning woodworkers. Interests range from craft techniques to furniture and cabinetmaking to woodturning and carpentry. Meetings are held on the second Saturday of September, November, January, March and May from 8:30 AM to 12 Noon at the Spring Road Church of Christ, 74 S. Spring Road, Westerville, OH. Each meeting features an informative seminar on woodworking techniques, a projects table where members display their latest creations, and plenty of time to share ideas with one another and to discuss techniques, projects, sources for tools and wood, etc. The Club offers other activities for its members as well, such as classes on various woodworking topics, field trips, shop tours, summer picnic and Holiday party. Discounts at a number of woodworking supply companies are another benefit of membership. Annual dues are $25. . .

  18. Adobe premiere elements....which I know nothing about. First time I tried to litererally cut each segment out and put it all together....talk about tedious. Once I figured out there was a multi-camera setting it was a breeze. Sync the videos, create a new sequence, enable multi-camera mode/window and just watch the video and hit "1" or "2" depending on which camera shows the action. Biggest pain is syncing the videos, and I've got that down pretty well using sound waves.

  22. "Left" and "Right": A little Bible study. Remember what Jesus said: 'Goats on the left, sheep on theright'(Matthew 25:33). Jesus also told Peter that if he wanted to catch fish do itfrom the right side of the boat. They did and filled the boatwith fish. John 21:6 (NIV) He said, "Throw your net on the rightside of the boat and you will find some." When they did, theywere unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish." Origin of Left & Right... I have oftenwondered why it is that Conservatives are called the"right" and Liberals are called the "left". By chance I stumbled upon this verse in the Bible:Ecclesiastes 10:2 (NIV) - "The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left." Thus sayeth theLord. Amen. It surely can't get any simpler than that. Spelling Lesson: The last four letters in American...........I Can The last four letters in Republican........I Can The last four letters in Democrats.........Rats End of lesson. Test to follow on November 6, 2014. Remember, November 2014 is to be set aside as rodent removalmonth. Please help to achieve that goal!

  30. Hello everyone, I finally feel up to posting. I first want to thank all emergency personnel who aided in dragging me out of a ravine and getting me to the helicopter, they were all amazing. Next, I want to thank Mike who drove non-stop to get me and our fallen bikes, Derek / Brian (Whaler) for never leaving my side through this whole ordeal. This scared the crap out of me. It was the hardest hit I have ever received. I want to validate that Derek is not responsible for my crash. It is my responsibility to pick the right entry speed and correct line and in this case neither mattered. This turn was covered end to end with gravel and you weren't going to get through it on two wheels at any speed higher than 25 mph. I want to thank God for turning me at the last second from going head first into a tree to back first. My jacket and ass took the brunt of the hit and I ended up in a pile of brush facing the sky. Got some rash on my hand where it burned through my glove, rash on my elbow where it burned through my jacket and the worst was my knee where my jeans didn't hold up. Thanks to everyone on the board who posted the encouraging comments. This is a huge ordeal for me and my family and all the support we received has been awesome. If anyone reads this post please take this with you. My gear helped save my life. Wear your gear at all times & know what your limits are for public roads because anything can happen at any time.

  31. my brakes suck balls. I think it's really my hub that is too worn, but it may also be the fat end of the drum lever. Need to look into replacing said lever in the off-season. I'm not saying I'm qualified to put on some kind of race school, but come find me before practice next round, and I'll follow you for 10 laps or so. I can tell you where I'm catching you. Then you at least have a better idea of where you're losing time. If you leave the door too wide open, I'll pass you, and then wave you by on the straight again. Practice is for practicing.

  32. I do...it's called due diligence. Anyone diligent enough could probably also get my name and address information. Every bit of personal info someone gains can be used to social engineer others into giving up more info or even access to things. One day I may mention online that I'm going on vacation and get back to find out I've been robbed. I never publish my phone number publicly online either. Who knows what people will do with info they get online. It takes all of 10 seconds to edit the picture. I also shred my mail and old credit cards. I'd rather be paranoid than regretful.

  35. you'll be fine on the road...just get a $15 rear light for extra visibility. i was riding last night and passed a guy on the road behind hoover on a hand cycle with carbon fairings over the wheels. i dont think a single part of it was much more than 24" off the ground, him included. it was pretty cool and you probably wont hit 50 on many downhills in OH...i think my max speed ever was 52 and that was a long, steep downhill and i was tucked into as aero as i could be. i'd be interested to see how it goes though
