  1. Ignition only. Kill switch is for emergencies ie: bike is on its side and still running, easier to slap the kill switch than to turn the key and risk breaking it off.

  2. I always put the bike in neutral before shutting off. Anytime I've killed it with the side stand was accidental.

  4. about 70% of the time that I do actually use my kill switch, the next time I get on and I turn the key I scratch my head from anywhere from 2 seconds to 5 min trying to figure out why my bike is "dead". I use the key.

  7. North end of 555 headed South on solo run. Small hardware store on the right side. Stack of 4x8 plywood sheets near road. A bit windy and stormy. Something didn't feel right and I pulled over quickly. Small tornado wannabe tore across the road in front of me rocking my bike. Half the stack of plywood sheets whipped across the road ahead of me where I would have been if I had continued. I think I subconsciously saw the disturbance in the air approaching. Mostly intuition. That hind brain thing. In my early days I had a one inch round rock come off a flat bed truck headed the same direction and hit me square between the eyes on my sunglasses (no shield). Moved my head to take the hit right there. No time for anything else. Damn near knocked me out.

  13. Hello All, Byrdman here.(Andrew). 20+ years experience. Long Distance enthusiast but will ride around the Ohio area any time I get a chance. Mainly ride a '12 Concours14 but recently inherited a '12 KLR650 and intend on doing some Trail riding on it as well. Look forward to meeting and riding with folks soon. I have pretty good knowledge on long distance riding to share when needed and will be looking to gain knowledge on trail riding as this is new to me. (currently recovering from double hernia surgery so no riding quite yet). Thanks for reading. Andrew
