  2. I heard @Hellmutt yelling woah in my head...sena. So, I did start slowing down before I came around the corner and was prepared to stop.... I love having our senas, they have helped so many times. Monday quarter back: we (i) could of done a lot of things differently and better. In the heat of the moment it is different. I knew Hellmutt would move my bike, I had nowhere to go at the time (truck in the way). The scene was safe for me to enter, the other rider was my priority (because No one was with him). I knew our group would start directing traffic and take control. I never knew the red car was there until I watched the video.

  3. ABS may have saved my ass on that corner, but didn't feel it kick in. I heard @o-no-moto lock the rear as he split right of me just between the truck and bikes. Again, damn good save Chad. And yes, I was a bit pissed the truck was where it was....should've definitely been around the corner flagging traffic. Had he stuck around, I planned to speak with him since he nearly caused us to pile up as well, but he pulled away as I was walking up so I went right to moving my wife's bike off the road. I'm truly proud of my wife @snot and thankful our group instantly went to work with traffic control, or trying to get a signal for the 911 call, attending to the rider down, and just asking if they could be of help. We did what we could in that situation, and took charge like it was one of our own guys. Just another reason I'm such a fan of the people on OR. This place continues to bring good folk together - thanks again to all

  4. Yep, soon after I pulled over (3rd behind hellmutt), I kept going up further. Looked back to see what everyone in our group was gonna do. Once I saw folks starting to stop/get off their bikes/helmets taken off, I then rode up the road to the NEXT corner parked off to the side and stood there ready to WARN others coming the other way to "slow down", etc! I'm just glad that I was giving hellmutt & gxsr-750 guy 2-3 secs ahead of me in the corners JUST IN CASE shit like this happens, giving me extra time to make a split second decision!

  7. Learn to let that shit go, brother - if you become the aggressor or escalate a confrontation, you'll be the one who'll rot in a jail cell when it goes bad, or get ran over by a 6,000lb vehicle, or get shot when someone takes you up on a challenge. Almost every day someone does something on my commute I feel like braining them for....but I choose my battles wisely. 99 times out of 100, raging from the seat of a bike is a losing battle.

  8. So many variables... if your mom plans to continue contributing to the 529, then that's good, but there's nothing stopping you from opening up another 529 in each of their names that you and the Mrs. contribute to. Your 529 contributions are good up to $2000/year off your Ohio state taxes. It all depends on how fiscally diligent you are to keep contributing to it, or just adding to it "as you can/want" -- that'll steer your path into different options. Or, you could always spend it on hookers and blow for you, because you can't make your children happy unless you're happy too. Something about Maslow's Heirarchy of Needs and sh*t.

  9. This was the view from the front of my bike. The last 5 mins is when we ran into the down rider. Had a nice pucker moment there at the end. Sorry for the hazy video. My case was getting moisture on the inside

  10. Nope. For the same reason I won't ride my kids on my bike until they're 10. I accept the risks of riding. I won't take a passenger unless they are also capable of accepting those risks.

  12. doctor note goes to a more older experienced senior professor like doctor who is my employer I will refuse since I am very jealous of this whole trip or I will let @jbot write one and sign it, that will embarrass you at work forever. I can imagine it being something like this, sight of sheeps causing priapism or bowel bladder incontinence when lifting small weights like a pen. etc but honestly it wont work, since @Tonik will probably send the screen shot of this thread to your employer.

  13. I put some video together from the ride. Dash mount is the slow group and helmet mount is the medium group.

  14. Couple vids I took off my helmet cam. Raw, no editing, terrible wind noise...but here they are: Footage I have from the downed rider we came upon. Shut off my camera (once I remembered I had it on) due to not knowing his status and respect for privacy, but you get the idea of what was going on.

  16. Got this 5lb'er tonight at dusk on Apple Valley lake. It hit a Skeet Reese Pit Boss in green pumpkin. Couldn't get my other hand far enough away is my excuse for the hokey pic. I like to release them as soon as possible.

  17. I definitely have issues. My wife makes fun of me and my virtual friends as she calls it. I don't always post a ton but I definitely refresh and read all the time.

  18. ROFL no kidding... its turning into that. Not yet, I never made a for sale post or anything just told a couple people about it. I will have a sign on it at PIRC and will make a post next week. The sooner its gone the better.

  23. My wife stopped riding as soon as she got pregnant. She sold her bike almost immediately. Made me sell mine when the second was born. She has never really ridden since. The couple of times I have had her out since she okayed me to get a bike again she is deathly afraid. It does not matter if she is driving or riding as a passenger she constantly thinks the worse. Kind of sucks, she used be willing to crank up to triple digits right along with me on her cbr. Now she's afraid to pull out of the driveway on a bike. Not sure I would encourage riding pregnant but as 2tall stated my kids love to ride with me and I take them any chance I can when mom is not around to shut the fun down. Wish I could turn the mom switch off at times for my wife.

  25. My wife and I rode with our first in the oven until it was just too uncomfortable for her. When she was pregnant with our twins, we just waited until they were born due to the extra risk factors.

  27. Nah man, you know you move enough to keep it interesting. Our trip home was fantastic. 170 on 16 and hauled ass up 83 trying to beat the dark.

  28. I rode up until my gear didn't fit anymore @ 5 months with my first and probably for about 2 months with my second (then it snowed so it worked out). Mary

  29. You trailer-ed your bike far further than you road it that day. That is just plain fucked up.

  31. That's between you and yours in deciding what's safe, and what's not, for your future child. Inherent danger most anywhere on the roads anyway, but riding is surely less safe than driving a vehicle. Medically speaking though, I don't know of any problems concerning pregnant females riding motorcycles.

  32. Oh yeah, I know this very well. It's hard for me to sleep the night before a trip... hell, I only got 2 hours of sleep the night before the last track day.

  33. I'm in for sure now. Worst case ill have to work till 3p on Saturday and slab strait to the hotel. The medium case scenario is ill have to work till 11am Saturday(or get off earlier) and ill just try to find you guys at some point or do my own route to the hotel. Best case is my coworker keeps his promise and covers me Saturday and I ride down to Parkersburg Friday evening. But what ever the case (pending no emergencies at home) I'll be going.

  34. You'd be surprised on how little sleep you need to go on for a motorcycle trip.

  35. Reservations at the Red Roof Parkersburg. Haven't pick a route yet but was planning to take curvy roads from Parkersburg o Beckley. I'll take a look at 16. Want to meet in the morning? Craig <edit> 16 looks pretty good. About 4 hours from Parkersburg according to Google.

  36. having an internal debate with myself about the 675 or a squid 1k that is in Michigan. The 675 or R6 would be the way to go if I was dead set on racing, but I don't want to spend the money or have the pressure of a race season.....only race I'm really interested in is Mid-O. I've had an absolute blast the last few days on my 750 now that the issues have been worked out; only reason I'm considering another bike at this point is because the 600 and a ton of parts is going away this weekend.

  38. Doc is correct on the heat shield. He saw 1st hand what happened to my lowers. They got cooked. I just put the stock lowers back on and all is well. I was not thinking I shielded everything on the uppers just like the stock was shielded but I did not see any shielding on the lowers. Common sense should have told me to protect the lowers since the header is right there. Oops.

Thanks to everyone for putting together this ride and making a great day of riding, stories, jokes, etc! Thanks, lets do it again! (give me 1 day to recover at least)
