  2. 555 is definitely not in perfect shape, but there are several goods roads going through Chesterhill.

  4. Muskingum county section of 555 was paved last year.So you have new pavement from Zanesville to Portersville (37).Portersville to Ringgold (78) has older pavement, but still pretty good.Once you get to Ringgold and newly paved 78 who cares about 555...just head over to 377 if you want to get to Chesterhill.

  5. One of the best riding roads in the state has to be the Triple Nickel, State Route 555 in Southeastern Ohio. But one thing that has been sorely missing is a food stop along the way. Soon we'll be able to eat what I expect to be good food at the Triple Nickel Diner in Chesterhill. They will be cooking with local produce and meats raised for them by local farmers, and they know how to cook! There will be an open house on May 28 at 3 PM with food and music, so if you plan on riding that area then stop by to see what its all about. Their grand opening will not be until June 18. They plan to be open Thursdays through Sundays. Here's the link to their web site: http://www.triplenickeldiner.com/

  6. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who has done this. I've made my commute from work to home (~20 miles) without touching the bars except for on ramp loops and stop-turns. You can really learn how much sticking your hand in the wind can move the bike.

  7. I finally started my winter maintenance. I've been waiting for the weather to be too bad to ride, but that doesn't seem to be happening this year. At 124,000 miles, it'll be a mix of standard stuff - rear suspension linkage removal/clean/lube, valve check/adjustment, brake/clutch fluid change, throttle body sync, spark plugs, air filter, steering stem bearing lube/adjustment, corrosion prevention/repair : and known issue fixes - starter replacement (the original is getting weak), rear brake caliper rebuild, final drive seal replacement, radiator pebble removal and fin straightening (believe it or not, my rad fins are mostly plugged with tiny rocks), coolant hose replacement, voltage regulator to battery cable bypass, left aux LED light repair (pretty sure it isn't the wiring), airbox replacement (original has several stripped plastic threads that allow air past the filter - found a low time one cheap), vacuum line gunk removal (recently discovered FJR issue that may explain some recent issues I'm having), and whatever else I find along the way.

  8. Hey, new to your site, but been riding almost 45 years. I think I'm blessed, living in the heart of one of the country's leading local food systems, with some of the sweetest riding in the state, maybe country. Way down in Athens County, that's where I'm at. Home of Jackie O's Brewery, Little Fish Brewery, and Devil's Kettle. We also have some great wineries, and outstanding restaurants in the area. The focus around here is to keep it local. Just want to invite any of you coming out to ride the Triple Nickel, to stop by the Triple Nickel Diner. Great local food, great folks, and the food's too cheap! If you want a tour of any of the breweries, wineries, organic farms, or food/agriculture related businesses, contact us ahead of time, ask for Bob, and we can arrange that. We can also hook you up with cabin rentals and B&B's. Thanks

  15. So Derek, with a top speed of 40mph we all will get about 30 sec of video riding up 83 before we are out of range, lol. Still, its a very cool product that is every changing, amazing the amount of technology in such a small footprint. I wonder if a track would allow you to record a session from above, that would be cool as hell.

  18. A while back there was a giant thread about how you can't steer a bike with just a lean. I stayed out of it, people were going ape shit. Instead on the way home from work I got on the turnpike at 147, set the cruise at 80 and drove all the way to 170 where I get off. I stayed in my lane, went around corners and changed lanes and never once touched my handle bars.

  24. Remember when I took you aside and said you were one of the smoothest riders I have seen...I am the opposite. I go from straight up to 90 percent lean in a heartbeat. Dunno how I can do it so quick, but I do. I do know that after a day in the twisties my arms and shoulders are sore.

  26. I had one for a few years. I put about 14k on the odo. Not the best looking, but certainly one of the most fun bikes I've owned. The motor is fantastic. Significantly better then the version on the 1st and 2nd gen SV650. A 2008+ GSXR 600/750 shock will bolt on for a cheap suspension mod.

  30. +1 on 377, one of my favorite sections. Chesterhill to Ringgold is the section I really hope they repave this summer.

  31. Sounds like a good excuse to ride in Southeast Ohio. The last time that I rode the triple nickel, it wasn't what it used to be. How are the road conditions?
