got back from loring, maine a few weeks ago. a long trip, and i'm still gathering up the loose ends. ran my 1965 triumph bonneville on the 12,000 foot runway to a new record in the mile-- 130.946 mph, and in the mile and a half-- 134.287. so far as i know, it's now the fastest gasoline production-framed triumph in the world, beating australia (116) and bonneville (123). cams, pipes, jets, and weather all came together on the last day, and i beat the mile record three times and mile and a half record twice. managed 29 runs without going into the motor beyond the removing the clutch to change gearing. my neighbor in the pits lent me his gopro for what turned out to be the record run: fastest vehicle there was a late model corvette running 258 in the mile. my neighbor got 203 on his ZX14. took him three days to do it, because he had to find a way through a pavement transition that bounced his machine in the air at 90. i didn't even know there was a problem, because i took it at 40. going back at the end of the month, then it's time to work on the track bike.

Made it home. 16 days and 7,154 miles.

Yeah, about 7 years ago. Dumbass.

Wow, there are a lot of deer murdering asshats on OR.

I hit a fawn on my first outing on the Multistrada with @dpgasser. Was quite the scare, but I lived and the deer didn't. Small victories are still victories.

It is a bitter sweet day. Just over 600 miles from the house. It has been one hell of an adventure, but you can only eat so many hotel waffles before you're ready to go home.

690 mile day with a 2 hour tire change stop. Long day, but it got us within distance to get home. Got some brisket and ribs for dinner tonight, along with some tasty beverages. Final day tomorrow

Changed up the route a little today. Ended up staying in Texas tonight. When in Texas, eat like a Texan...

Made it to the summit of pikes peak. Didn't die of altitude sickness @Blitz @Tpoppa

$23 surf and turf at a local pub. It was and special and when the waiter told me the price I thought he was mistaken that's what was billed. Soooooo good.

Not many pics today. Rode some awesome roads but very few pull offs and I wasnt going to try to click pics on the fly with a 1000 drop off a foot off the road. Rode Million dollar highway, Black Canyon and Independence Pass. At the hotel in Dillon for our 3 night stay.

Today was a hot one in the desert. 105 at one point.

Kind of a travel day but we did stop at the Bonneville Salt Flats.
