  2. Hi all. I just joined the forum, found this thread and want to introduce myself. I’ve been riding since 2012 and just picked up a 2019 BMW 850 GS Rallye yesterday, which I proudly introduced to its first gravel, dirt and creek crossings today. Looking forward to connecting and getting dirty. Cheers.

  3. More suspension upgrades on Injun. Rear springs and shock swapped from a 2017 version that were upgraded to progressive springs at the factory because the 15-16 springs were garbage. These are the old 2016 springs. Side by side comparison. Newer 2017 and up springs.

  8. Sc3 front is my favorite front aside from the V1271. I would do trackdays and coach on an sc3 rear but the grip is not there when trying to race or throw down a fast lap. Il always sprint race on a 1 or 0 rear.

  9. With everything still there including the handlebars and throttle I am thinking you could turn that into the fastest jack ever.

  10. I really liked the power cup evo's as well. I've spooned on a handful of sets of those and never had an issue. I spooned on an sc3 rear for the Nelsons 4hr endurance and after over an hour of riding it barely looks like I ran 2 trackday sessions on it. It really all depends on your riding style and what you want out of your front and rear tire.

  11. Was only going to replace the rear tire, when suddenly I got an attack of the "while I'm at it disease"... (dammit, I did it again!)

  12. Punk, B-Mac, everybody, JUST DO IT! I'm a member of the MSTA. So is @Qman. I'm also helping coordinate the event, well, mostly the cooking and restaurant stuff. I am certain you guys can find a group at this meeting that you will enjoy riding with. There are all sorts - fast, very fast, used to be fast, and then more leisurely (that would be me.) They post 20+ rides and provide paper maps or downloadable GPX files. The groups usually form up the evening before the ride, though some groups are set and don't change out people very often. But there are signup sheets that are for different speed preferences. Then in the morning, usually pretty early, the groups head out individually. When two or more are on the same route they will try to stagger departure times. The routes usually have a suggested lunch stop, but that is optional. They tend to get back well before dinner to get cleaned up and then hang out by the grill or the pool behind the motel. The event used to run Friday through Sunday and they had two cookout or catered meals. Then last year they changed the format to encourage early arrivals. But the early guys then go to an arranged restaurant - on your own tab. I also help shuttle people to the restaurants. On Thursday we hired the Marietta jitney to shuttle the 50 or so people that were there for dinner time. I am coordinator for the Friday cookout - burgers, brats, beans, slaw, chips, veggie trays, cookies from Walmart, and lots of water and sodas. A lady who hasn't done this before is planning to do kebabs on Saturday. (There's a mex place right next door...) I really like this group and the Marietta event is one of the largest regional meetings. Last year we had about 130 bikes. I'm expecting quite a few more based on the talk that was going on at the national rally two weeks ago in Bristol VA. You'll find all makes of bikes, lots of BMW's and even a few Harley's and wings. All of the guys and ladies are avid riders. Some will have ridden from CO, TX, WI, NJ to get to the ride. Most will probably still show up on Friday. Please notice that this is the first year that you don't have to join the organization in order to participate. I think we fired the lawyers. We're about to tell the AMA to take a hike if they keep insisting on getting the members contact info. So, you can just register and show up. But if you register at the event I WILL give you a burnt burger and a crumbled up cookie box with a few crumbs in it. It really helps to have a decent count for planning. Please consider attending! How did this turn into a grom discussion??? Oh, never mind. Chris Shoop

  13. Anybody else imagine Jim's garage looking like a steam engine rolled vape juice for an hour while reading of his foray into fully-faired Japanese motorcycles? I know I chuckled heartily.

  14. I avoid looking at the undercarriage unless I'm maintaining something.

  15. Well that fucking sucked. Saturday took the wheels off to get new tires. I added a hidden receiver for a cooler rack under the rear fender so that had to come off. Sunday I put the new tires on, then put the receiver back on. Snapped a bolt that goes into a block that is welded to the trunk brace. Good half inch sticking out but it wouldn't budge. So I needed to heat it, but it's right up against the right saddle bag. So that had to come off. To get that off I had to pull the seat, two panels below the seat. The backrest so I could pull all three trunk panels off....then I had to unhook all the shit in the saddle bags. Manual release cable that goes to the left bag and a manual release cable for the trunk. FM antenna, GPS antenna and a fucking Bluetooth antenna for the passenger because it's too far to the front one I guess. Heated the bolt and it came right out. That took all of Sunday afternoon and night. Monday I chased the threads and got the receiver back on. From 5 PM until now to put it all back together.
