  1. http://i412.photobucket.com/albums/pp201/copperhead035/IMG_20140519_025500_zpsovjreexs.jpg Here's the plug that was attached to it (it's been replaced) http://i412.photobucket.com/albums/pp201/copperhead035/IMG_20140519_025430_zpsezczsm6y.jpg Not the best picture, I know. Around the nut part of it was what looked like rust. Car in question is a 2013 VW Passat 2.5 that's just about to 50,000 miles. I assume it's the first plug change. The browned coil is the one on the far left side (drive side), dunno if that's cylinder #1 or #5. Everything else looked fine.
  2. So that guy was whining that every time he goes to Hilliard the speed limits have been lowered. Does anyone care to tell him that's because it's cheaper than fixing potholes?
  3. Its best to not read facebook comments in the first place...
  4. Most college students apparently sleep through economics classes Whats the term on that, 25 years? Like I said, if you pay it off fast then you will pay a fraction of that interest. I'm sorry that someone else was kind enough to let you use their money, with no collateral in case you decide to never pay it back. I'm getting tired of whiny ass kids bitching about "having to pay to go to school." No one is forcing anyone to go to college. No, it should not be "free" seeing how instead of you having to be responsible for your own choices, that just means one more burden to dump on taxpayers (hint - taxpayers take the hit if you don't feel like paying back your student loans, unless you went through a private bank, which is less likely). If you think you have to go to college to make it in life, feel free to do some reading on Mike Rowe's facebook page. Or take for example plenty of people on here. I bought a house at age 23, how many people do you know that went through college immediately after high school that can say they were able to do that? Jones didn't go to college and he has a GTR. Not to say that not going to college is better than going to college, it's simply a different choice that leads to a different outcome. My girlfriend is in college, on the path towards a very specific career that she should have no problem getting into. She occasionally brings up how much debt she's in, and I have to keep telling her not to worry about it because so long as she doesn't deviate from the path she's on, they won't be a concern when she's out of school. So my advice is instead of crying about how much you owe, do whatever it is you need to do to get into that career you want to be in. JUST GET THERE, whatever it takes. Once you are there, things get easier. For what it's worth, I went to college for about 3 years after high school, had no direction, no clue what I was doing. I quit, got a good job, and got my loans completely paid off in about 4 years. It's really not a big deal.
  5. Pay it off faster and you won't pay all that interest, geez Imagine what life was like back before the days of quantitative easing when we still had high interest rates. It wasn't that long ago that I had a 9 percent interest rate on a truck with excellent credit.
  6. Evan, go here: http://www.ar15.com/forums/f_8/65_South_Carolina.html Make a login and ask around. And keep in mind you have to get a permit for whatever state you live in, which means training in the state you live in as well. Since Fort Mill is SC, you don't want to be trying to do any of that in NC.
  7. VERY true. For proof, go here: https://www.crimereports.com/ Ignoring the giant pile of sex offenders everywhere (except in my zip code FTW) you might be surprised to see how little crime is showing up in Whitehall, and how much is showing up in Powell. It's rather surprising.
  8. Does anyone know a place that does reproduction factory GM decals? I'm looking for a silver eagle or silver Phoenix hood decal for a 1980 gmc indy hauler truck. It's very similar to the hood graphic on trans ams of the era but a different size.
  9. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills! http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/05/09/democrat-lawmaker-blasts-bill-blocking-gun-purchases-with-ebt-cards/?intcmp=obnetwork
  10. For once it wasn't the ignition switch. Seriously though, to me this is enough that whenever I end up having kids, I will NEVER leave them unattended in any car, running with the AC on or shut off, for any reason. Cars do burn up, and I can't imagine the horror of having a kid stuck in a car seat when that happens. You're brother was very lucky, and I hope insurance doesn't try to fuck him.
  11. And here I thought I was the only one out there that dislikes sunroofs/moonroofs/giant holes in the roof.
  12. I've been looking for a new daily for a while now, and haven't been able to decide on anything because I hated pretty much everything out there in my price range. I'd been throwing options at Jordan for a while to look for, then he finally had one on the lot so I went to test drive it and didn't really like it so much. So he had a Passat on the lot, test drove it, and he was able to give me a deal good enough that I went with it instead of going with something else on my list. He was super accommodating and had everything worked out through PM so I could be in and out since I didn't have a whole lot of time to go pick up the car in the first place. Thanks again!
  13. Family comes first, then your own health. A job is pretty low on that list. Best of luck to ya.
  14. There's a sticky in this section that explains this in detail, I suggest you check it out. Short answer, yes, Arizona, Florida, Virginia, and Pennsylvania are the easiest. Edit - I couldn't copy paste on my phone for some reason, so here's the link http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=105406
  15. Oh yeah, I just woke up when i read that and was posting from my phone. That would have been a 3.4 for sure, sorry. Should have a timing chain instead of a belt, so as far as head gaskets go it should be an easy engine to work on. I don't think head gaskets are a common issue on the 3.4 though.
  16. The 3.0 was introduced some time around the body style change in 89. It remained until the truck turned into the Tacoma in 95, when they went to I believe the 3.4. Whoever is interested in this should look up info on it first, considering how common this problem is it might be better to just do head gaskets on the current engine.
  17. They never put I6's in 4runners. The 3.0 in the Toyota trucks of that era are notorious for blowing head gaskets.
  18. I got a brand new blade for my push mower on Amazon for $17. Waaaay easier than dealing with sharpening, and you know it's right.
  19. With those requirements everything you will find will be old and worn out and/or badly rusted. Either need a higher price range or different requirements. Only thing I can suggest is a first gen Dodge Durango, which still isn't a great choice. Might find an old blazer/jimmy but those are all junk at this point. Maybe a 90s Tahoe/Yukon, or 90s expedition. Just keep in mind, there's a reason why these can all be had that cheap. You don't want any of them.
  20. From what I've read, they are made by Umarex, along with most, if not all of the factory .22lr 1911s. I read in the same place that Umarex is the parent company of Walther, so obviously they are used to building .22 handguns, but just like the p22 you can get a really good one, or one that jams all the time.
  21. Machinima came out with a short web series called Sonic For Hire. It's a cartoon about Sonic the Hedgehog trying to find jobs to earn money to pay rent. Each episode is about a minute and a half. A lot of youtube channels have the seasons all together so you can't really tell where one episode ends and the next begins. Very funny stuff, and reasonably not safe for work, mostly due to language. That being said, I've been watching them at work with headphones on. I can't find a single video for season one, so here's the link to the Machinima channel for each individual episode of the first season: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=EL5UyoVWOpVJ8 Season 2: Season 3: Season 4: Season 5: Season 6: Season 7:
  22. I've gone through a couple junk 3/8" Craftsman ratchets. What should I get for normal home garage use that's high tooth count, and in a lower price bracket than Snap-On, that I can also order online or buy in a store? I don't work in a shop, so no tool trucks for me.
  23. T-Mobile has announced that they are going to be selling a large number of their LTE enabled tablets for the same price as their wi-fi only equivalents. I have no clue how long this sale will be going on, but it's already started. I just ordered a Nexus 7 (current model). More info here: http://www.tmonews.com/2014/04/operation-tablet-freedom-explained/ http://slickdeals.net/f/6849410-t-mobile-4g-lte-tablets-free-1-2gb-data-per-month-32gb-asus-nexus-7-fhd-tablet-269-amp-more-for-new-existing-customers-w-voice-plan Buy an LTE tablet through their website at wi-fi tablet price. Either finance for two years or buy outright. Postpaid plans only. Until end of 2014 get $10 off tablet data plans every month. If you have a T-Mobile postpaid voice plan, you always get $10 off tablet data plans. These stack, which means if you have a T-Mobile postpaid voice plan, the 1 gig tablet plan is free until the end of 2014, after which it is $10/month. Add $10/month for 3 gig, or add $20/month for 5 gig to all my numbers if you want a bigger plan. If you don't currently have T-Mobile and don't want to get T-Mobile for voice, it's still only $10/month for 1 gig until the end of the year, after which it's $20/month. If you put a tablet on a post paid account that also has a voice plan, that tablet gets 200 megs of LTE data for free every month. This also stacks with whatever plan you get. So if you have a voice line with T-Mobile, you could buy a tablet outright and stick it on your plan to get a free 200 megs every month, or if you get the 1 gig plan its actually 1 gig and 200 megs. If you elect to get a tablet on the EIC plan (monthly payments) it's very cheap. They require a 2 year agreement though to go this route, as it's two years of payments. If you cancel service before the time is up you have to pay it off right then. They do a credit check, and if you have good credit there's no down payment required. They don't charge interest, and for the Nexus 7 I ordered, the payments all add up to exactly the sale price. The Nexus 7 is under $12/month for payments with no money down. Some tablets are cheaper, the Ipads are higher. Once the balance on my prepaid accounts gets used up I'm going to convert both to postpaid. Currently spending $60/month each for the 3 gig plan, so $120 total. Family plan is full price for first account, $20 off for second, so I'll be at $100/month. 1 gig data plan for tablet is free for this year, $10 for next, and payments are $12 a month. So through this year I'm actually saving $10 a month, and next year it's a wash. Plus I'll be able to apply my corporate discount to a post paid plan, which they don't allow for prepaid, so I'll be saving another 15%-20% every month. So in the end, I'm saving money by getting a tablet and converting my plan. For those that haven't used T-Mobile, I get 30-40 Megabit in Columbus on LTE and 20 Megabit on their 3g. It's fast.
