  1. I've used these, and friends have. I'm not going to recommend the little powder measure spoon for loading. Not even minimum loads. (Well ok, maybe for emergency post apocalypse use...) Get an accurate powder drop for that. Otherwise they are ok.
  2. edit: or, as the news is starting to report it: Hitler had a love child!!! Seldom does the news astound me, but this one does. I guess we should have suspected such an event might have occurred in World War One. News from France says that a man who has already died at age 67, Jean-Marie Loret, is being confirmed as the son of Hitler. Born in 1917. The son of a French teenaged girl (16yo at the time) who knew Hitler in World War One. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/france/9088865/Hitler-had-son-with-French-teen.html Oddly, his children might have a claim to profits from Hitler's still published book... Mien Kampf ('My Struggle'). edit: comparative physiognomy photos of the two, found at Australian The Courier Mail http://www.couriermail.com.au/ipad/hitlers-lovechild-fought-nazis/story-fn6ck55c-1226274759078 http://resources1.news.com.au/images/2012/02/19/1226274/767613-hitler-039-s-son.jpg New York Post: Hitler had lovechild who fought against Nazis: report http://www.nypost.com/p/news/international/hitler_had_lovechild_who_fought_OOqb50QF8vQ93Jdr4hWtRL
  3. rats, I can't see it on this computer. I'll have to use another one. Script blocker is stopping 16 startups on scripts for all kinds of junk. Two are facebook.... Most of the rest are ad trackers. Well ok, facebook is an ad tracker.
  4. ha! I jiggled a girl's pickup open at work with an ordinary key. She locked hers in. Mine fit and I could tell it was close. I kept telling her "hang on, I'll get it in a second". Jiggle it till it pops all the tumblers.
  5. 78 750F was a really nice bike. Last year of SOHC?
  6. Was just looking through craigslist... nope, but there's a 900F in Mansfield, and what looks like a super clean CB1100F in Dublin. edit: oops... searched for supersport instead. No pic. 1980 Honda 750 Supersport, original miles 14000, red, $1500.00 http://columbus.craigslist.org/mcy/2796146616.html
  7. I am clearly amused... thanks.
  8. They said that was the original problem. Bad data. They did a contest to create an algorithm that didn't register the bad data. University math and engineering mostly responded to that task. Apparently it still goes off on railroad tracks and speed bumps anyway.
  9. The standard in most cities is that if the city was notified prior to the incident, they will pay for part or all of the damage done. A record of such notification would be good. I hit one hard at the top of a freeway ramp a few years ago, and thought that would probably be a bad tire in a year or so. Then I passed a small Japanese car with it's front axle torn completely off! I was in a 77 Cutlass. A tank. And yeah, the tire went bad a year later...
  10. Here's the one that they can sell in California (CARB approved) - $1,825.00 Znen KingKong - yeah, that's Chinese... http://www.scooterdepot.us/znen-kingkong-150cc-gas-moped-ssr-rowdy-motor-scooters-p-579.html
  11. It's made in Chino California? And it can't be sold in California. Ha! edit: I think it's assembled from import of Chinese parts, of course... If I had a van for camping, I'd strongly consider one of these.
  12. Street Bump app finds potholes and sends the data to the city for repair. Combines the app with motion sensors in the phone to find the potholes in the road... Developed by the city of Boston. 13. Good point. Although I tend to believe that it applies to portions of all groups of peoples. Except us engineerds, we love contrary information. There's generally not much of it to work with in engineering.
  14. IndySuperBike? Hell yeah. Definitely some of the lowest prices around. And lower shipping since they are close by. I called once right after I placed a mixed up order, and found calling them was easy and enjoyable. When researching chain and sprocket prices, they were one of the lowest on the sets of rear sprocket with chain. And have a lot of choices. While talking with them, I realized they can and will buy anything you want for a motorcycle. It doesn't have to be on their website. They will find it and drop ship it to you.
  15. Apparently yes and no. I'd have to read it again to be sure. Some facts in the email that circulated are true facts (from the book), and other facts are completely fabricated for the "shocking" email. And still difficult to tell, since sources of the information for the book were never revealed. Secret Service agents aren't supposed to talk about stuff. I've heard the stories about LBJ, so that part is probably true. He was a rough gruff Texan. The stuff about Carter is a surprise. I knew stuff about Agnew from when I was in college and knew somebody that lived around there. Saying Nixon was strange isn't too surprising, but is kind of creepy when considering he was president. There's always something on everyone...
  16. I've done it that way also, for the Winter. But I try to check the voltage occasionally to make sure the voltage doesn't go too low and damage the battery. edit: I am remembering that I've had a few car batteries that didn't last a year. There are bad batteries for sale. It's hard to tell which ones they are.
  17. but but... the angry moose! or mooses...
  18. I'm thinking that the words "battery tender" are being used generically for a group of charging devices that do not limit the total charge. In other words, chargers that don't shut down when they are about to damage the battery. That much is true. If you built a simple charging circuit without limits, it would have to be watched so it wouldn't overcharge. If you buy a decent charger that has a built in limit sensor, that problem is avoided. The cheapest motorcycle battery charger sold by Deltran Battery Tender is the Junior 12v. The one with a basic wall wart and output wires to big alligator clips. It is capable of preventing an overcharged battery. And is safe for all batteries: acid, gel, AGM, and lithium. I'll guess that most good brand cheap chargers are the same. (Except fake/bogus products made in certain unnamed countries. Good luck with that.) http://batterytender.com/motorcycle/battery-tender-junior-12v-at-0-75a.htmlYes, I use a Battery Tender Junior 12v. I've even used dumb car chargers on 2amp and monitored them with VOM so they wouldn't overcharge. Probably not a good idea. Again... my bike batteries are 10 years old and 5 years old and still work.
  19. http://www.amazon.com/Presidents-Secret-Service-Behind-Protect/dp/030746136X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329346772&sr=8-1 http://www.amazon.com/Presidents-Secret-Service-Behind-Protect/dp/030746136X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329346772&sr=8-1 OK, found it. Give me something harder. Ronald Kessler is a well known best selling author of books about the Secret Service and FBI. I've read several of his books.
  20. hit a guard rail on St Rt 79 at an estimated 130mph and "he seemed to be okay"? dang...
  21. Deep water extraction of oil wasn't possible till late in the last century. And there is a lot of deep water oil to extract. Two oil fields on the East coast of South America are about as big as everything else in the world put together. We just can't get to it yet. It would take decades to start up. In the Gulf Wars, rumor had it that the Saudis had discovered new oil fields of light crude. Light crude needs very little refining, and is worth a lot on the market. Supposedly these newly discovered oil fields are larger than anything found so far in Saudi Arabia. It was guessed that Iraq found out and attempted to attack and take over those oil fields. The main reason was that oil in Iraq is of lower quality and would be hard to sell. We will always need oil to produce plastics and other polymers. We do need to get over using oil as fuel.
  22. yes it's true... you can't whisper sweet nothings unless you've patiently waited your turn... edit: lol, that's not Gen I'm referring to....
  23. I'm guessing a transfer from county detention center to a state prison facility. edit: I just noticed the bike received ticket for passing over center line in no passing zone.
  24. Prior outstanding warrants for "pattern of corrupt activity" and theft-related felonies in Delaware County. http://www.newarkadvocate.com/article/20120208/NEWS01/202080310/Reynoldsburg-man-charged-connection-high-speed-chase
  25. I wish they wouldn't bundle the ABS with the DCT. That seems like a mistake to me. I'd like to see the ABS as a separate option on every bike made by every manufacturer. Otherwise it seems like an interesting bike. But a bit heavy and a bit underpowered.
