  1. I remember cycletrader being LOADED with fraudulent ads and bikes the last time I was looking to buy. Lots of "i just moved to UK, my friend will handle it" shady as shit deals.
  2. Yeah, I'm very skeptical if I don't get a good amount of time talking to the person beforehand. Any place to look for quality used Ducs within a reasonable distance of Dayton?
  3. So sounds like pretty mixed feelings here... thanks for the input folks. Just can't find many good listings around here. Truth be told I "bought" my bike on eBay last time, but it was a dealer here in Dayton and ended up buying it face to face from the dealer and not through eBay directly.
  4. If so, any advice on how to handle transaction, make sure title is transferred properly. Particularly if seller is too far to visit in person?
  5. Ditto, except 42" Panasonic. Burn in is a fairy tale.
  6. I do like to do the work on my bike. I've done quite a bit on the R6, but i had the confidence to mess with it cause it wasn't that expensive. i'd be a bit more apprehensive on the Monster. I've put about 10k on the R6 and done all the "service" myself.
  7. Haha, I figured some people would appreciate the change of heart. Even the wife is on board with it. Now I just gotta find a price I can live with. Oh, what's the reliability reputation with Ducs? I'm not terribly familiar with the brand.
  8. Went out to Competition Accessories and checked out a few bikes and I really liked the Monster 1100 Evo. Beautiful, good seating position, and at 373 lbs dry is lighter than my R6, which gives me high hopes for the handling. Really leaning this way right now.
  9. how's riding position? neutral/upright? or more aggressive?
  10. So just to prove how totally uncommitted I am at this point I need to ask: How is the riding position on the Duc Monster? Will the 696 be enough power or spring for a higher displacement? Ride comfort?
  11. No one will ever be able to say you don't have enough stopping power.
  12. The thought had crossed my mind to make the R6 hers, but I dont know how comfortable I'd feel with her on it as a first bike. But I guess we'll see. I'm not looking to get something anytime soon, but if she likes riding the R6 and can handle it, that's a distinct possibility.
  13. Part of the reason I'm considering a swap is I feel I'm wasting the R6. I always feel the need to ride racy because I know what the bike is, but rarely do I ride aggressively. In the end, I probably end up riding it more like a cruiser. I guess the best way to describe it is owning a Corvette when all you spend most of your time doing is commuting and sightseeing. Does a 97 HP v-twin really feel that much less powerful than a 108 HP sportbike? I get that I wouldn't have that shit your pants acceleration to 140 mph anymore, but will that really feel underpowered? I'm still open to a few of the Ducs, the Sport Classic and Monster are still on my short list. Just reviewing my options. Right now, Multi Bike Syndrome is focused on getting my wife on a bike, which she just recently shocked me by saying she was interested in getting her own and take the MSF course. So MBS means getting her off the back of mine and on to her own. I'll probably have multiples in the future when we both start our real careers and make some real money, but right now it's just not gonna happen. I'll be lucky if I can talk her into letting me spend more than my current bike is worth on a single bike, let alone having nearly $10k tied up into two bikes. Yeah mancard, I know.
  14. not a big fan of the bikes that look like supersports that forgot to put a fairing on them, though i'm sure it's nice.
  15. Not really concerned for storage, just something i wouldn't mind riding for 4-5 hours on some day trips. The R6 just has me cringing at the thought of 3+ hour rides. Not a huge fan of the sport tourers or touring bikes from a styling perspective anyway. The NC700x isn't a bad looking bike. Anyone own a victory who can comment on the comfort and ride? I should also mention, my entire in-law family (extended, and grandparents) are all living in and from a small town in Iowa, so buying a bike made in Iowa would score some brownie points.
  16. Are cruisers typically not comfortable to ride?
  17. Actually warming up to the idea of a Victory more. Really like this one I saw on eBay last night: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Victory-Hammer-S-Cruiser-/160903863591?pt=US_motorcycles&hash=item25769e1d27 My only concern is my dad briefly had a Honda Shadow 600 and I really didn't like the way it handled. Seemed like it really liked to tip over suddenly in turns. How do these handle relative to that? What difference can I expect coming from an R6? I'm not sure how i'll like nearly doubling the weight of my bike.
  18. The median nerve does go through that area and it possible that may have been inadvertently hit. If it still concerns you after a week go see your doc.
  19. who sells interstate? in general or in Dayton.
  20. Battery on my wife's '07 Impala needs replacing and thought I'd get some feedback on brands, amps recommendations, etc. No extra equipment in car. Pretty straight forward. Thanks in advance!
  21. Just keep pressing the "you'll kill yourself" "You'll wreck it" "you can't handle it" and maybe you'll get lucky and he'll try damned hard to prove you wrong. Otherwise I gotta agree with others that have said he's not your kid, not your family, not your responsibility. Say what needs to be said and wash your hands of it. When I was 17 I thought I wanted a Busa too cause i read it was the fastest and knew nothing of bikes. Now I have a 600 and can't even fathom riding a 1000
