  1. Don't use a spray detailer it's got stuff in it that will cause the surface to not want to bond with the paint. Just use simple isoproply alcohol from the cosmetics department at the grocery store to prep the area. Ideally you should slightly scuff it too but with the delicate nature of the paint already I'd skip that step if I were you.
  2. looking good that was a much faster course than they had setup on Saturday for PCA.
  3. Free bump for this. PDX is a great, laid back track event with lots of seat time. Highly recommended!!!
  4. If you resort to properly fixing the paint you're going to have to paint the fenders which I wouldn't suggest based on where the cracking is and the lack of severity of the damage currently. You got a great suggestion in your thread about this 2 months ago...clean up the area with paint prep, apply some clear over the cracking paint to isolate it from getting any other dirt, debris and water in it and then keep an eye on it to see if it gets any worse.
  5. I did...we were thinking about going again this year but decided against it. I will agree that Ricciardo and Vettle are getting closer when their cars stay running...however had Hamilton not needed to back off because he couldn't see out of his left eye he would have remained on the back of Nico. In a typical Monaco race with 2 safety car periods the top two was a good battle most of the race. I wish it would have played out that they had to pit under green not under safety car I believe that would have made it a little more interesting. In the end 4th place was >30 seconds behind the leaders and there were only 4 cars on the lead lap vs. 15 last year.
  6. I think the media and the drivers themselves know that this year has been pretty boring and they're grasping at every opportunity to make a story out of nothing. I'm sure there's a rivalry there but it's not what they are making it out to be. I'm sure every team mate is in the same situation. If Kimi and Alanso were battling for first and second every week instead of mid pack they'd blow that out of the water too. Make no mistake what Nico did in qualifying was calculated not a mistake. Is what it is. I've enjoyed the couple of battles that Nico and Lewis have had but the fact that it happens so far in front of the rest of the field is crazy. Ferrari is getting lapped? 5 cars on the lead lap? We have a form of racing that is supposed to be the pinnacle of technology and development and people are running to a pace to conserve fuel in cars that are MUCH slower than they were even 10 years ago. The whole direction of the sport drives me crazy.
  7. Both cars were at Mid Ohio Wednesday in the rain and are filthy. Guess I'll have to clean one of them up tonight. If Only I knew someone who could do that for me.
  8. Having detailed and ridden in this car in the past I can tell you guys this car is the real deal. Buying it for pennies on the dollar compared to the build costs and something that will depreciate very little over the remainder of it's life as long as it's maintained to current state.
  9. I'm jealous...sounds like a blast. When you get the Kosei's, you running different rubber or still RS-3's? Looks lower than I remember too???
  10. If Sedan and AWD is a must: Panamera Turbo - seriously go drive one they are ugly to most but AMAZING cars RS7 If Sedan and RWD is acceptable: M5 - new turbo version E63 - new turbo version If coupe: 997 Turbo - need 2010+ to get modern electronics you are looking for. Porsche is notoriously behind on electronics I had to add bluetooth and Sirius modules on our '07 to get streaming music to the OEM Nav / head unit.
  11. don't have to change ever again
  12. I drive the GT3 to places within 3 hours (mid ohio, Putnam, Nelson) anything further I will tow. Not worth the risk for me beyond 3 hrs.
  13. Not enough props in this post. It's one thing to build a car that can go fast for short periods of time, it's another to build a car then go beat on it for 20+ minute sessions at the track all day, plow it around some cones in a parking lot and still drive the thing home. Kudos Sir.
  14. FYI...I run the same oil for my A4, I think it's a fine street oil. I change at 5k intervals. Got me to 230k so far will continue with that schedule.
  15. B5 no has button. Are you asking what we think the oil change interval should really be vs. what the car is telling you it should be?
  16. +1 but that place pisses me off. You go after 6pm or so and there's a good possibility they will be out of just about everything on the menu.
  17. Respectable given time away from the saddle and traffic.
  18. I'll preface this by stating my E46 M3 was one of the best cars I've ever owned for my wants and needs in a vehicle. However I 100% agree with what Brian is saying about E9X 335 series vehicles (except that they're more attractive than E46 ). I think 335 vert is the car they will be happiest with. Only thing going for the E46 at this point is that it's basically at the bottom of it's depreciation curve if he's really really worried about resale. For the most part the early E90 335's are pretty well depreciated at this point as well just not quite in the same market position as the E46 M cars right now.
  19. I did a lot of homework on Gallardo's when I had a hard-on for them a couple years ago. They're basically and Audi and highly reliable and cheap to maintain in relation to the cost of the car. Start breaking stuff and putting out 1000hp plus and that rule goes out the window but if you buy one with bolt-ons and can turn a wrench yourself ownership costs won't be that bad. Maybe my perception is skewed cause I do all my own work and don't pay labor costs but this is how I see it. The expensive part is if you get an e-gear car the computer eats the clutch for you. It's $5-7k job and most e-gear cars need a clutch by the time they get to 30k miles. I think it was '06 cars they started being able to tell via onboard diagnostics how much life was left in the clutch. All the more reason to find an early car with true 6-speed. my .02 on the Gallardo
  20. +300,000,001 Honestly GT-R is an amazing machine. But I'm a purist for a manual transmission and I've only purchased German cars for the last 13 years so I stuck with my heart and went 997 TT. Also my wife (who will drive it most) liked the refinement and feel of the porsche better. They are very similar on paper but drastically different at the same time. I say skip Gallardo.
  21. Absolutely, it's a life saver. Must have.
