Check Bad Weather Bikers classifieds. If the owner can't tell you any details about the stator, assume it needs to be replaced. Those stators aren't cheap.

How can we warm the globe?

My dream bike would be 450 lbs wet, fully adjustable SS spec suspension, decent wind protection, 100+ rwhp, comfort for 500 miles days, & hard cases. Unfortunately it doesn't exist. The bikes that come the closest are the Ninja 1000 & BMW F800GT. So...I am going with my CBR with Helibars, adjustable footpegs, and probably a Ventura Rack/Pack.

You would probably never notice any difference in corner speed unless a lap timer was involved. I wasn't sure I'd like Helibars, but I took a chance. It was a good move.

Have you considered Helibars? They made a big difference on my CBR600RR. 500 mile days are no problem and it handles better than any sport tourer.

How much for a Ventura Rack/Pack for a 2010 CBR600RR? I may be the only one dumb enough to sport tour a CBR.

It had a cool for it's day 20 valve engine. I liked it better than my buddy's V45 Magna of the same era. I liked the looks of that 80's Fazer.

I could ride my '99 Magna at a respectable 6 or 7/10ths pace. Of course it's also the only bike I've ever crashed. The rear wheel lost traction in a bumpy left hand turn and low sided Wrong tool for the job. I've taken that same turn much faster on other bikes without issue.

There are certainly pleanty of posers & idiots on any style of motorcycle. Harley used to be a considered a performance motorcycle. They used to have the biggest baddest motors you could get on 2 wheels. Somewhere around 1965, HD forgot how to innovate. HD's biggest engineering feat in the last 30 years has been the move from carbs to FI, and that was forced on them by the EPA. Personally, I would prefer to own something American. I have owned three Buells...EBR is showing signs of life...I would really love for the largest American motorcycle manufacturer to create an impressive, performance machine on par with bikes from other manufacturers.

One of these days, I'm going to show up for a ride in an actual Power Ranger Suit. Maybe I'll stop by bike night on the way home.

Cruise - fatalities are unlikely when you're standing next to a motorcycle, plus you have tons of safety bandanas. Sport - squids don't usually wear power ranger suits, or much gear except for maybe a mohawk glued on a helmet. Seriously though, I've seen more crashed cruisers than crashed sportbikes. I only ride with people that wear gear and I've never had someone I was riding with get injured.

A pirate costume is a ridiculous outfit to go play 1960s biker when you get off work. People wear them because they (incorrectly) think it makes them look cool. But how else are you supposed to let people know that you rode nearly 800 miles last summer unless every-fucking-thing-you-own-has-a-HD-logo-on-it??? A power ranger suit is a riciulous outfit that could actually save your skin. I don't know anyone that wears one because they think it makes them look cool.

HD resale is still better than average, but it isn't what is was 10 or even 5 years ago. You can easily find used big twins under 10k and Sportsters under 5k. You can thank a flooded market and aging HD riders for that.

^^ This. I hated the looks of most Pontiacs. Basically a Chevy with unnecessary spoilers and ground effects...and every light on the dash wash bright red like a giant Check Engine Light.
