  1. Is Ohio Motorcycle still selling motorcycles? I got a 'too good to be true' deal on my Gladius from a dealer that was closing in Indiana. It would be great to find a deal like that again
  2. I'll bet those pipes sound great.
  3. If the rails are original and 30 years old, they probably need replaced. http://www.tabletek.net/faqs/76-cushionreplacement.html
  4. ^^ The California actually seems pretty neat...for a cruiser.
  5. No help on the lending part...but I've bought a motorcycle from them before. j&j buys a lot of their used bikes from auctions. Repo's and the like. I thought they were pretty honest. I would just ask about the bike's history.
  6. There is mold if the basement was flooded and wet for more than 72 hours. Mold remediation can be VERY expensive. The recent cold snap did lots of damage to pipes of houses that were vacant (unless they were previously winterized by shutting off the water and pumping antifreeze into the pipes). my $.02. Unless it's an amazing deal and you just can't lose...those kinds of projects are best left to investors that can fix/repair themselves at cost and then 'flip' it. Paying contractors to do all the work adds up quickly.
  7. Home inspectors usually won't give any kind of repair estimate. They'll give you a good list of what needs attention though. A home inspection is $400-500. Usually people get a home inspection after an offer is accepted (the offer is pending the results of the inspection). In this case it may make sense to get the home inspected first and use it to negotiate a lower sale price. OOC, why does it need so much work? Was it vacant or burglarized?
  8. It sounds like you need a good home inspector.
  9. SE Ohio and WV have some amazing roads for sport bikes. If you're willing to ride a few hundred miles in a day, you may just find sport bike Nirvana. When the weather cooperates there will be plenty of group rides posted. There's a good number of seasoned ride leaders that post on this board, with plenty of knowledge about riding/motorcycles/routes. Get some gear if you don't already have it. Helmet, armored jacket, gloves, and over the ankle boots at a minimum. Armored pants or a riding suit are a really good idea, too. Learn proper riding/cornering technique. Watch this DVD or read the book. Everything you need to know about sport riding is in here http://www.amazon.com/Twist-Wrist-Vol-High-Performance-Motorcycle/dp/0965045021Another good source http://www.sportrider.com/motorcycle_riding/techniques/Do a trackdayPick the brains of veteran riders Don't be one of the guys that wants to show everyone how fast he is, only to crash on your first group ride...never to return. There have been too many of those guys to count. No matter how good of a rider you are or how fast your bike is, there will always be someone better, faster, smoother. Leave the ego at home. Use it as an opportunity to to learn. Ask questions at gas stops, ask someone to follow you though the corners to give feedback, etc. And read this: http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/flashback/122_0911_the_pace_nick_ienatsch/ I'm sure others will chime in with stuff I didn't mention...
  10. Is fade an issue for drag racers? I thought that was an issue with constant hard braking on a road course.
  11. You'll get more initial bite with steel braided lines. For street riding thats not always a good thing...more personal preference. For track, steel braided is the way to go.
  12. ^^ I vote for the BMW...but then I'd have to keep up with it, so maybe not.
  13. Here's your daily NSA reality check. Gov't intelligence agencies were chomping at the bit for years before 9/11 to get their hands on the personal data on your computer, phone, the gps in your car, etc. They had no legal way to do this because of that pesky 4th Amendment. Furthermore, US citizens would never agree to such a violation of rights. Fast forward to 9/11...American citizens were reeling from the biggest attack on US soil since Pearl Harbor. The Patriot Act was signed into law about 6 weeks after 9/11. It was introduced during a Presidential Address to a still scared US populus as a 'response' to that awful attack. Within the Patriot Act, Gov't Intelligence Agencies were finally able to sidestep the 4th Amendment, privacy rights were weakened, and most people were still to frightened to realize what just happened. I have a big issue with the NSA defending American soil by stomping all over American principles. 14. I wonder how the Diavel is selling in the US. Based on this thread there seems to be a lot of interest in them, but I've never actually seen one on the road.

You should ride a Gladius (SFV650) then. As awesome as the SV650 motor is, the version on the Gladius is even better. I sold mine last year...suspension was done, exhaust, and more aggressive handlebars. It was an absolute blast in the twisties.
  16. He would have to fire himself also:
  17. Kids will like instagram until their parents start using it...just like Facebook.
  18. There are marijuana stocks that have jumped since recreational pot was legalized in 2 states. I would call them VERY risky. http://money.cnn.com/2014/01/07/investing/marijuana-stocks/index.html
  19. They have 'teeth' for 12 positions of adjustment. I'd still use a shit ton of red Loctite.
  20. I ride with ear plugs 100% of the time.
  21. The S1000R, the new naked version, also sounds pretty awesome http://www.cycleworld.com/2013/12/09/2014-bmw-s1000r-first-ride-review-specs-photos/
