  1. I had one in college. Fun & cheap to drive.
  2. I wish I had an SV...luv the helibars on my 600rr.
  3. So, without reading this whole thread, what time & place? Haven't been to the show in years but there's at least 3 bikes I want to finger.
  4. and the motorcycles that will be racing are...wait for it.. . . . . . the HD Street 750. HD should win a lot of races, as long as no other bike are allowed to compete.
  5. ^^^ My cbr certainly isn't the most exciting bike I've owned. It has VERY good handling manners and the Combined (not linked) ABS is pretty awesome. I like it a lot, but don't love it. It'll be in my garage for at least 1 more season, after that who knows.
  6. Honda sells a ton of motorcycles. People buy them for top notch fit/finish, reliability, excellent engineering, & good resale value. They are slow to introduce things like slipper clutches, TC, & selectable fuel maps. I think Honda tries too much to reshape the motorcycle market and create new segments (they have had some major misses as listed above), where a company like Kawasaki is more focused on building what people want today.
  7. I know this was intended to be complimentary. And it is...sorta...I guess. But, in all seriousness...how is this any different than any of the millions of idiots at any bar in America??? What you have identified is someone who is way less informed than he thinks he is, refuses to shut the fuck up about it, and has somehow (rather surprisingly) convinced himself that he's some kind of intellectual. Oh where, oh where can you find such a rare, beautiful creature? He's like a slack jawed unicorn, with a clinical form of denial that shits rainbows and spews bullshit. In order to maintain the integrity of this thread, no one should reply until they've had a few drinks, or their party favor of choice
  8. This may be your most original trolling to date. Congratulations!
  9. Is Ohio Motorcycle still selling motorcycles? I got a 'too good to be true' deal on my Gladius from a dealer that was closing in Indiana. It would be great to find a deal like that again
  10. I'll bet those pipes sound great.
  11. If the rails are original and 30 years old, they probably need replaced. http://www.tabletek.net/faqs/76-cushionreplacement.html
  12. ^^ The California actually seems pretty neat...for a cruiser.
  13. No help on the lending part...but I've bought a motorcycle from them before. j&j buys a lot of their used bikes from auctions. Repo's and the like. I thought they were pretty honest. I would just ask about the bike's history.
  14. There is mold if the basement was flooded and wet for more than 72 hours. Mold remediation can be VERY expensive. The recent cold snap did lots of damage to pipes of houses that were vacant (unless they were previously winterized by shutting off the water and pumping antifreeze into the pipes). my $.02. Unless it's an amazing deal and you just can't lose...those kinds of projects are best left to investors that can fix/repair themselves at cost and then 'flip' it. Paying contractors to do all the work adds up quickly.
  15. Home inspectors usually won't give any kind of repair estimate. They'll give you a good list of what needs attention though. A home inspection is $400-500. Usually people get a home inspection after an offer is accepted (the offer is pending the results of the inspection). In this case it may make sense to get the home inspected first and use it to negotiate a lower sale price. OOC, why does it need so much work? Was it vacant or burglarized?
  16. It sounds like you need a good home inspector.
  17. SE Ohio and WV have some amazing roads for sport bikes. If you're willing to ride a few hundred miles in a day, you may just find sport bike Nirvana. When the weather cooperates there will be plenty of group rides posted. There's a good number of seasoned ride leaders that post on this board, with plenty of knowledge about riding/motorcycles/routes. Get some gear if you don't already have it. Helmet, armored jacket, gloves, and over the ankle boots at a minimum. Armored pants or a riding suit are a really good idea, too. Learn proper riding/cornering technique. Watch this DVD or read the book. Everything you need to know about sport riding is in here http://www.amazon.com/Twist-Wrist-Vol-High-Performance-Motorcycle/dp/0965045021Another good source http://www.sportrider.com/motorcycle_riding/techniques/Do a trackdayPick the brains of veteran riders Don't be one of the guys that wants to show everyone how fast he is, only to crash on your first group ride...never to return. There have been too many of those guys to count. No matter how good of a rider you are or how fast your bike is, there will always be someone better, faster, smoother. Leave the ego at home. Use it as an opportunity to to learn. Ask questions at gas stops, ask someone to follow you though the corners to give feedback, etc. And read this: http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/flashback/122_0911_the_pace_nick_ienatsch/ I'm sure others will chime in with stuff I didn't mention...
  18. Is fade an issue for drag racers? I thought that was an issue with constant hard braking on a road course.
  19. You'll get more initial bite with steel braided lines. For street riding thats not always a good thing...more personal preference. For track, steel braided is the way to go.
  20. ^^ I vote for the BMW...but then I'd have to keep up with it, so maybe not.
