  1. If you are looking for a challenge, take a look at the Kentucky Adventure Trail. The GS is pretty much built for it, but polish up your off road skills first. I did about half of it a few years ago (the whole loop is about 1000 miles, IIRC). It was fun and challenging even though some stretches were a little above my off roads skills.
  2. This guy (yes him) has a good grasp on why the economy is doing well right now.'
  3. I'll bet. Did she say it was "fine?" When he ask what was wrong did she say "nothing?" 😄 This might be a talking point in all their future arguments 🤣
  4. Sounds like he totally understands women.

    Pick my tattoo.

That place is a couple minutes from my house. I know the owner from years ago. Who did the tattoo?
  6. The only reason I think it's an advantage is you are avoiding a degree of risk by limiting your exposure during the cycle when gains are less likely. If there is an correction or overall market drop you can go back in during a low point and come out ahead. The converse is also true and you could miss out on market gains, but historically there seems to be less chance of that. There seems to be many flavors of that strategy Buy and hold is another fine strategy. That's what I've done for years.
  7. I don't know that I'd call it market timing. It doesn't happen every year, but it's a trend that's been recognized for a long time. I've never done it, but I know someone who's followed it for years (with a few tweaks) with some impressive results. Also, 5-10% in precious metal is a pretty standard hedge. https://www.cnbc.com/2019/04/30/sell-in-may-and-go-away-maybe-not-this-year.html An investor putting $10,000 into the S&P 500 between May 1 and Oct. 31, 1950 to the present would have $4,138, an astonishing loss of $5,862. An investor putting $10,000 into the S&P 500 from Nov. 1 to April 20 over the same time period would have a gain of $2,836,350. That is not a typo. We are talking about a gain of $2,836,350, versus a loss of $5,862.
  8. Does anyone have any interesting investment plans for the 2020 election year? I fully expect a trade deal with China will get completed before the election (the timing of that deal likely won't be a coincidence). I've read predictions that a China trade deal could lead to a 5-8% stock market run-up followed by a period uncertainty. I've talked to a few people that follow the "sell in may and go away" addage. I've never done it before, but they almost have me talked into it for 2020. Almost. At some point in 2020, I'll move 5-10% of my portfolio into gold & silver. Other than that, I'm undecided if I'll make any changes or not
  9. Interesting idea. If it proved feasible it would solve the recharge time/infrastructure concern...but I wonder if the consumables and waste would be a concern. Maybe I'll read up on it
  10. I have nothing against early adopters. Good for you. I'm just not one of them. I'll likely go solar (when I build a cabin) before I get an EV. Solar feasibility is dependent on the battery/panel tech without having to worry about infrastructure
  11. EV tech is evolving rapidly. IMO, any EV that exist today will certainly be obsolete in 10 years. Infrastructure is the driving force of the industry. Infrastructure is largely going to determine which EVs are going to be successful...not the other way around. I expect some failed formats (think VHS vs Betamax) before the industry is standardized. Whatever company emerges & gains control of that infrastructure is going to become one of the most powerful companies in the world. After those chips fall is when I'll seriously consider an EV. Prolly 10 years.
  12. My office is in LA and my manager has a BMW i3. It's nice, but even in LA, the infrastructure is lacking. There are charging stations in parking garages, but really not that many. If a large portion of drivers we driving EVs how long would the wait be at a charging station? Hours? There are situation like apartments where charging at home isn't an option.
  13. I've owned 2 Magnas of that generation. Probably the most fun cruisers I've ridden.
  14. IMO, we are 10 years away from all-electric vehicles being a viable option for a meaningful number of drivers. Battery technology is getting there, but they need to store more power and become much smaller & lighter. Recharge times are the real deal breaker. Infrastructure is going to need to evolve differently. Charging "gas stations" are never going to work for a large number of drivers. Charging stations in the parking lots of grocery stores, etc would work a bit better...but, scrap the whole charging station idea and move to hot swappable batteries. Batteries sizes should be standardized across vehicles, and the vehicles need to be designed for easy battery access. 10 years away...at least. OTOH, we are living in the golden age of burritos.
  15. at least it has bullet proof glass
  16. Cybertruck is way uglier than a burrito.
  17. Livetv.net is good for channels. It has tons of international sports channels.
  18. I've used jail broken Firesticks for years with no issue. Buffering issues either mean the source you are streaming from has bandwidth issues (this would be the case if you only have issues during peak times), if you always have issues I'd bet your ISP is limiting bandwidth intentionally (this is the case with apps like Kodi). Also, Kodi needs a fresh install when there's major version change.
  19. We use Firesticks. There small, inexpensive, and portable. You can take them with you when traveling. Then any cheap Blu Ray player.
