  1. If I still had a suitable bike...

    Ride 2/23

I rode about 150 miles yesterday. The roads were a little dirty and beat up, but the BMW is a fantastic motorcycle.

I'm a decent golfer. But I choose not to.

    Ride 2/23

I'll be riding tomorrow but just for a few hours. Maybe grab lunch and head home.
  5. I've always liked the 1st Gen goldwing gl1000. Specifically original naked versions. They are reliable and powerful for their day....but carbs...
  6. There a few that I've considered buying, but then common sense kicks in and I talk myself out of it. Is it worthwhile to own a cool classic bike from the 60s, 70s, or 80s?...or is it too much of a PITA to deal with carbs, old electrics, and leaky for seals?
  7. Lots of gravel roads NW of Coshocton. Most of the small roads north of 36 & on either side of 60 are gravel and relatively remote.
  8. I've ridden about 75% of the TOT. It's mostly gravel with a bit of dirt. It's a good route to learn to ride in gravel. Only a couple sections are challenging.
  9. Most successful thread jack ever? What gap trip?
  10. Score 1 for Paul...apparently 1 for Jim, too.
  11. I came really close to buying an RT. Really, all the 2014+ BMW water cooled boxers are fantastic motorcycles. The R1200R with all the touring farkles, just checked my boxes a little better than the RT, RS, or GS. Plus I just like roadster style naked bikes. If 2 up touring was a big consideration, I'd have a hard time deciding between the GW or 1600GTL...really can't go wrong though.
  12. I consider myself a 60/40 right-leaning swing vote. Give me someone better to vote for than Trump and I probably would, but there's no way I could vote for Bernie Sanders. His plan is economic suicide...although, little if any of his plans would pass both the House and Senate. Of the Democrat candidates, the only one that has a platform I could try to get behind is Klobuchar, but I don't think she is "left enough" to get the Democratic nomination.
  13. Haven't closely followed the detail of Bernie's plans. Is this right? I don't see how these numbers could work. https://www.city-journal.org/bernie-sanders-expensive-spending-proposals All told, Sanders’s current plans would cost as much as $97.5 trillion over the next decade, and total government spending at all levels would surge to as high as 70 percent of gross domestic product. Approximately half of the American workforce would be employed by the government. The ten-year budget deficit would approach $90 trillion, with average annual deficits exceeding 30 percent of GDP. The $97.5 trillion price tag is made up mostly of the costs of Sanders’s three most ambitious proposals. Sanders concedes that his Medicare For All plan would increase federal spending by “somewhere between $30 and $40 trillion over a 10-year period.” He pledges to spend $16.3 trillion on his climate plan. And his proposal to guarantee all Americans a full-time government job paying $15 an hour, with full benefits, is estimated to cost $30.1 trillion. The final $11.1 trillion includes $3 trillion to forgive all student loans and guarantee free public-college tuition—plus $1.8 trillion to expand Social Security, $2.5 trillion on housing, $1.6 trillion on paid family leave, $1 trillion on infrastructure, $800 billion on general K-12 education spending, and an additional $400 billion on higher public school teacher salaries. This unprecedented outlay would more than double the size of the federal government. Over the next decade, Washington is already projected to spend $60 trillion, and state and local governments will spend another $29.7 trillion from non-federal sources. Adding Sanders’s $97.5 trillion—and then subtracting the $3 trillion saved by state governments under Medicare For All—would raise the total cost of government to $184 trillion, or 70 percent of the projected GDP over ten years
  14. I'll actually be surprised if that footage isn't used in Trump campaign add.
  15. The GW and the GTL1600 are really in a class of their own for 2 up riding at a beyond-cruiser pace.
  16. She caved to pressure from the far left. I'm curious to see how it all plays out.
  17. Pelosi has done more to energize the Republican voting base than anyone other than maybe Trump himself. "If" Trump wins, a lot of Democrat fingers are going to be pointing in her direction.
  18. WV. Stay a night in Elkins, and a night or 2 in Buckhannon and explore. Pretty much every state route in the area is wiggly with little traffic.
  19. A great way (for me) to lose weight is a long multi-day motorcycle trip through the Appalachians. I get in the 'zone' and barely think about food until we're done for the day. I usually drop 3-4lbs on those trips.
