  1. What's does it cost to chrome a coat hanger?
  2. I would check for the obvious stuff mentioned above. If it gets more involved, I would find a whole new wiring harness on eBay. How hard could it be to replace the harness on a sportster?
  3. Out of curiousity, what do you think the FZ1 will do better than the Sprint? Or is it just time for something else? I compulsively buy and sell bikes, so I totally get that
  4. I see your point, but don't necessarily agree. Since you mention scenarios, how about this one. I like to sport tour. Actully, I like to sport ride over touring distances. On a 500 mile day through WV, you'll cover 2,000 corners (probably much more actually). The pace tends to be fast. Some of the roads I've ridden before, some I haven't but there's no way that I can remember the line through that many corners. My pace is based on my ability to negotiate each corner like it was the first time I've ridden it. Now, I've done lots of those rides with some seriously great street riders and some seriously great track riders (some that were both). One guy that stands out in my mind was a track stud. He was quick on the street as long as he was following someone else, when he was in the lead, meaning he couldn't base his pace on any one else, he was seriously slow (he actually wouldn't lead for that reason). Very strong on the track, but not an accomplished street rider and he knew it. Sometimes I lead those rides, sometimes I don't. Either way, I've never felt disadvantaged becuase other riders have track experience. I have a reserve also. Track experience is great. It's a good way to gain experience, but it's not the only way.
  5. Hey, with all these motorcycle riders hanging around her, maybe someone should plan a motherfucking ride!
  6. I haven't been involved in this discussion, but that is an interesting comment. One thing I've noticed that the fastest street riders (I'm talking veterans with many miles under their belts) have in common is the ability to swiftly negotiate roads and corners that they are NOT familiar with, sometimes with little or no line of sight. I'm not saying that fast track riders can't do that, but I will say that the ability to negotiate unknown terrain is not as necessary on a track where you repeat the same course many times. The actual technical skills (counter steering, body position, etc) translate to street or track. While they probably can be learned faster on the track, they can also be learned on the street. I have logged many street miles with track instructors and have soaked up much of their knowledge. Lots of good roads in WV or SE OH have MANY blind hills and curves. The quickest and safest line through those types of corners is different than the track line. That may not be a comfortable situation for someone with a lot of track experience but little on the street. If you want to be quick on the street...you need the technical skills and experience on the street. If you want to be quick on the track...you need the technical skills and experience on the track.
  7. This thread shows how badly we need decent riding weather. Post Less:Ride More
  8. This The only thing I would add is that corner speed comes with confidence. Confidence comes from practicing and understanding good technique: -The right line through a corner -Counter steering -Body position Practice these 1 at a time at first, then all together when you're ready.
  9. When you put the word 'motorcycle' on any product, the price automatically triples.
  10. That is not typical on the 09s. I'd get it fixed while you still have a warranty. If you haven't already, get the instrument cluster replaced. It'll fix the Low Fuel Light too. This.
  11. Out of the box, there are a few recurring issues on these, but they are easily corrected at no charge, under warranty... --ECM - have the dealer flash the most current version, it just runs better. Then just buy the Erik Buell Racing ECM, because it runs WAY better. --Low Fuel Light falsely illuminates during cold weather---fixed by an Instrument Cluster with updated firmware (dealers can't update the firmware, so they'll order a new cluster). --Clutch covers may leak a few drops of oil--updated seal fixes it. --The charging system may still be an issue. A lot of stators burned up, so HD issued an updated charging harness. The jury is still out on this 'fix.' It prolongs stator life, but volts tend to be a lower than before the 'fix.' The culprit seems to be a POS voltage regulator that has 'Ducati' stamped on it, it doesn't seem to be able to handle the voltage. Some owners have had good luck with aftermarket voltage regulators or having stators rewound. I have about 9k on my 1125R. It's a very good bike that I will not be getting rid of anytime soon. I have had charging issues, but it's never left me on the side of the road. If I have any other charging issues, I'll go the route of the aftermarket VR. It's a pretty simple install.

  13. A Nighthawk 250 will not keep up with a Ninja 250
  14. Is a Nighthawk 250 too butch for this ride?
  15. I'm a function over form guy. I've drag raced on 2 wheels at Norwalk. I never got the drag racing bug, but if I did and I thought I could do better w/ext swingarm...I would probably do it. I don't get when people do it for looks, it's like bringing the custom chopper factor to sportbikes. Sportbikes are purpose built. Why have the committed riding position of a sportbike but eliminate the handling capability that comes with it? I don't get it, but I don't get custom choppers either. And no, you can't corner just was well with an extended swingarm. That's just physics.
  16. I check for flip flops and do-rags.
  17. Unless you drag race, I think ext swingarms are pointless and scream poser. Why 'improve' your machine by ruining the handling that was engineered by people far smarter than you?
  18. 160 hp with no valve adjustment is impressive!

  20. Quotas happen way more often than most people want to believe. I'm really suprised that the ruling went against the city. Good Stuff!
  21. What does it cost to insure these...compared to other bikes? What is the range per fill up?
  22. Look, your ad is being ridiculed on at least 2 forums, probably more. http://www.sport-touring.net/forums/index.php/topic,36137.2940.html Either you're the asshole, or everyone else is the asshole. My money's on you brah.
