  1. See if you can go to a Buell Dealership and purchase one of these new 1125RR's. Then go to a Suzuki dealship to see if you can get a GSXR1000.

Then go to Rockstar Makita and ask to buy one of Mladin's bikes.

btw...U.S. MSRP is $39,995. Orders must be placed through the Buell Race Department and delivered through an authorized Buell motorcycle dealer.

  2. i disagree, if anything it would give more flexibility as you are not limited to a link by link basis...make the front pulley a little bigger, and the rear pulley a little smaller or vice versa..., and the tensioner should give you a good amount of play anyway

There is no play in the tensioner. You could potentially make different tensioner pulley sizes, or some kind of adjustable tensioner, but the tension needs to be precise (note the rear axle does not move at all). It easier & cheaper to change gearing with off the shelf sprockets and chains.

  3. In many people's opinion AMA has already been showing quite a bit of favor to Buell. So to continue their success in this series (not hating on Buell here but this is where they're having most of it) they create a turnkey, track only model of bike and it is almost immediately granted permission into the series. If Ducati tried to enter the Desmo I'm quite sure everyone would cry foul. Just seems like the favoritism continues...

Take that with a grain of salt, I've been reading up on it but haven't been able to watch much

Hmmm. 1. I'm sure Buell had pemission before they started development. 2. What favor? After Buell won a few, they made them add weight, which dropped them back in the pack.

    This is the issue.

What is the difference if Buell makes a streetbike and then Buell Racing modifies it within the Suberbike rules vs. Suzuki makes a streetbike then Rockstar Makita Suzuki modifies it within the Suberbike rules? The only real difference is that the mods are made before/after the racing team actually gets ahold of it. I'm QUITE CERTAIN that RMS has at least $28k of mods on Mladin's bike.

As much as I like my Buell...I don't really think Knapp is going to beat Mladin.

  4. WTF is this shit.

DMG and Buell caught in bed together.

Maybe I'm missing something. What exactly is the controversy??

American Superbikes all have direct roots to production street bikes and, not surprisingly, each eligible model represents the most powerful motorcycle available from top manufacturers such as Suzuki, Honda, Yamaha, Aprilia, Buell, Ducati and others. The big-bore bikes all produce at least 1000cc in engine displacement from a variety of twin and multi-cylinder powerplants. Four-cylinder, four-stroke machines have a minimum post-race weight of 375 pounds and are limited to 1000cc engines, such as the Suzuki GSX-R1000, Honda CBR1000RR and Yamaha R1. Two-cylinder, four-stroke machines must tip the scales at a minimum post-race weight of 390 pounds but can exceed 1000cc in displacement, such as the Buell 1125CR and Ducati 1098R.

  5. U.P.

It doesn't look like I'm gonna need the front stand.

I have it disassembled and have the motor rotated down for service. It wasn't that complicated of a job. I took it slow to make sure it was done correctly. So far so good...

  6. It was definitely a fun ride. U.P. was fast on 255, he waited for me. There are a few roads where I dial it down when the sight lines aren't great, like 536, 555, and 255. 255 is the most fun of those 3, but still not one of my favorites.

    U.P.

Next time we can go a bit deeper into WV, there are a few roads similiar to 250, but in better condition.

  7. I won't need it for a while since I just replaced the tires last weekend. I have another front stand if I need one anyway. I'll check where it is when I get a chance, it's at home or in Grafton. When do you want it?

Sometime this week, I need to find a day to head that way after work.

Wow.. that sucks' date=' Tony. If you need help let me know.[/quote']

I am pretty disgusted by the whole situation. It was cross threaded and over the miles it worked loose and stripped the threads.

Paul, if you have time that would be cool. I've never had to get inside the engine before. I have the service manual and it doesn't look too complicated. I guess that is one of the pros of the less complicated air-cooled motor.

Once I get the head off, I'll decide if I'm going to replace the head or repair it with a Timesert. I've heard that the Timesert is better than new.

  8. U.P.

It's for the Buell. The Buell uses the same pin as the ZX6R, per the Pit Bull site.

I'll prolly need to have it on a stand for a couple weeks...so I wouldn't want to inconvenience you if you'll need it soon. Long story...but the previous owner cross threaded a spark plug :(

  9. Alright, I have a pistol that I need to get rid of but alas, no pics as of yet. Here is what I have:

Glock 22, 2nd Generation Full Sized Pistol with six magazines and an after-market, semi drop in barrel(it fits but still might need tweaked), and around 350rnds of target ammo(FMJ 165GR) as well as 100 rounds of self-defense ammo(Gold Dot HP, 155GR Double Tap Ammo), for $500.

This is a little too big for me to carry it concealed so I will eventually move down to a compact. The caliber is .40S&W, for those unfamiliar with Glock models.

What is the condition? Are the mags hi-caps? What is the aftermarket barrell...is stock pipe is still there?

  10. The ride was great, the weather was so-so.

The roads were wet from Cleveland to Akron & I got pretty soggy. What better way to dry out then hanging in the breeze for 400+ miles. Other than that, the roads were mostly dry, never really saw the sun until the ride home.

I met Uncle Punk in Bolivar @ 9. From there we took some favs to the Ohio River and crossed for a twisty WV loop. Crossed back into OH hit 255 & 800 home. We kept up a brisk sporting pace all day until we split at 77 & 212.

We'll have to do it again...

Now I have to get ready for a softball double header tonight.

  11. I may go and break off somewhere along the way, I have to work at 5...

We should be back to Akron by 2:30 or 3 depending on the route.

I'm about 80% on making this ride right now. Are you starting from Bolivar or riding to it? I would be riding about 71 miles from Elyria to Strasburg and then about 7 miles to Bolivar where would you be starting from?

I took all the bags off of my bike this weekend and my parents are taking me out for my birthday Thursday night. I need to but my bags back on and don't know how late we are going to be out Thursday. I will need to be leaving about 7:30 AM Friday morning to make your meeting place and time. This is why I'm only 80%. If I get my bags back on Thursday morning and I make it home by 11:00 PM from dinner I'll be ready to go.

How deep into WV will you be going? I would like to put WV maps into my GPS. If a brisk pace excludes cruisers does it exclude 600s?

Bags...we don't need no stinking bags. I don't have an exact route in mind yet. There are plenty of good roads in SE OH. We can do an OH route or cross into WV depending on schedules. I know the roads well so we won't be getting lost either way.

I won't say no cruisers, but I will say I generally ride at a pace beyond the capabilities of cuiser suspension and tires. No one will get left behind, you are welcome to come for all/part of the day & see if this is your kind of riding.

Again...Bolivar DQ at 9 leaving at 9:15. I plan to be back to Cleveland by 4. Let me know for sure who's going to meet at the DQ.
