  1. Or change your brake fluid apparently.

Mine gets changed when it needs it. But I have the old style cap with two screws in it Never seen a wristband on that type.

If the wristband is there, then as far as I'm concerned the brake fluid is there. Outta sight outta mind.

The last thing I'd want to do is see if I have fluid in there - that would mean I might actually see the bike needs something and I'd have to do maintenance.

Some other sweet upgrades, powder coating the coolant reservoir and painting the oil level window over with acrylic paint.

    that's funny

  2. I prefer shell or sunoco. I save the kroger discounts for the car. No point in burning a fill up on 4 gallons.

Thats why I fill up the car and bike with a single fill up at krogers. Gotta do it at the end pump where they can't see you, they frown upon that. Don't know why, it isn;t much different than the car and a 5 gallon can.

  4. Dang, I was thinking very seriously about going up to this point. Unless there's a group of mopeds and scooters, I'd probably just hold y'all up. :(

Come one man. Ride your own pace, no one will leave you behind.

Don't let that scare you off! I'm going and I'm slow!

See Redrocket? Porter is riding is ninja 250 so Im sure you'll be fine.

It is looking like we will have a large enough group to split into two groups. One will be the spirited riding group and the other will be the less aggressive group. We will discuss all of this on Saturday morning. See you all there.

Is it Saturday yet? Is it Saturday yet? Is it Saturday yet? Is it Saturday yet? Is it Saturday yet?

  5. I remember making that mistake. At an old gas station along the freeway. The batch of fuel stirred up all the water and garbage, and the car would barely run to the next gas station to add better fuel. I wasn't alone, the clue was stalled cars all over the freeway. It made the news and the city closed it down to get the tanks cleaned out. I wouldn't be surprised if the tanker was selling the station a load of water either.

I will admit I don't like BP either. It's the only station that has short changed me on fuel with bad pump meters. Happening more than once is deliberate in my opinion. It was probably only that one station's owner.

My Dad always said Shell was the best, because they supply all the fuel for aviation. But I tend to go for something cheaper, and I use UDF and Speedway. Both are generally newer stations with clean tanks. I think UDF fuel is supplied by Mobil, and Speedway fuel is supplied by Marathon. But like I said, it's all the same fuel anyway.

The percent of alcohol in fuel used to be variable, but it appears to also be all the same now. It's now regulated to not be more than a certain maximum mixed in the fuel. It will vary from state to state per each state's regulations.

Gasohol was cool, and ran great in inline fours. And smelled like whiskey to everyone behind you. Gasohol was high percentages of ethanol (grain alcohol) instead of methanol. As high as it could go and still run ok. My I-4 motorcycle got great gas mileage on it, but the V-8 car got terrible mileage using it. Both types of alcohol can cause problems with seals and gaskets and plastic parts on older vehicles from back in the day before alcohol was added to the fuel. Which means anything old enough to run leaded fuel, and a few years past that. The exact year that manufacturers switched over to better parts escapes me.

Opinion: Gas stations do not make any money from selling gasoline. They make money from selling all that stuff inside the store. The store that gas stations never used to have. This means that all gas stations are selling the cheapest fuel that they can possibly buy. So it's a good thing actually, that all fuel is the same. And regulated and inspected by the state to be that way.

I won't go to UDF because most of them post no guns signs.

I might have to try Shell, seems to be a lot of good reviews.

  6. I see you have a problem with reading comprehension.

I offer to give the taste test to anyone who wants a urine test from me. More Big Brother bullshit as far as I'm concerned.

What a person does to themselves on their own time is their business. If it affects their work, then fire them for that, not for what they choose to do with their free time.

Dont get me wrong, I'm not pro drug abuse, I'm anti invasion of privacy. But, I do believe that the war on drugs is the biggest waste of tax payer money that the US has ever seen.

    I'm just f'ing with ya. :D

  7. lol but a screwdriver has another use. to install screws. it can be improvised as a weapon, yes.

a gun... whats its other use?

I know what I said could be a stretch but thats how I look at it. My firearms have never been used to kill someone. I carry them as a tool to protect myself. If a bad guy forces me to uses it as a deadly weapon, that's his fault and his problem. I just am really fed up with people having a huge misunderstanding of firearms. The government just adds to these misconceptions. (I in no way imply you are that type of person)

to put holes in paper, destroy clay pigeons, and provide food for your family. ta da!

I use mine as doorstops too.

    lol

to be clear, im not in total disagreement here. i agree that guns kill people like forks make people fat. but to say that a gun is not a weapon is just... its like saying a couch isnt a piece of furniture.

a weapon is a tool used to cause harm. the fundamental purpose of a gun is to cause harm. yes, a gun is a tool, but its also specifically a weapon.

What about carrying a knife? Is that a tool or deadly weapon? I carry one as a tool unless needed as a deadly weapon.

a couch could be a ladder if you stacked up a sectional, or a dwelling if you lived underneath it, or a weapon if you dropped it off a roof. for the record, i am just trying to be difficult.

  8. Ms. J, seems like you got a lot of good starting info here so I really don't have much to add. I did buy on off brand jacket from leatherup.com and am very happy with it. Xelement I think is the brand. Cheap but durable and armored.

I have a vega helmet and have no issues with it. Other than the snap on the strap to keep it from smacking your neck in the wind broke off.
