  1. Heres a tip; dont ride in a cars blind spot either. ;)

That's one thing that I have become aware of. I'll ride a little close to the lane line just to make sure I'm in their mirror, at the least, and the same with multi-lane, I make sure the cars beside me know I'm there (the best I can) and watch out for them if they are going by, or if I'm going by them, and make sure the pass is completed quickly.

  2. I gotta admit, the biggest thing you can do is just stop worrying about it.

I carried for about 10 hours today with Kholster. Bike, car, etc etc... once you stop worrying about it you'll forget your even wearing a holster.

Sort of like a wedding ring?

  3. I havent been blown off all that much. All week every rider either initiated a wave first, or i would then they'd wave back... Ive been blown off maybe 3 times all week. 1 was a HD, another was huge cruiser not HD, and another a sports bike... So thankfully i havent found any evidence for stigmas, yet lol... The funniest thing i noticed though was that when i waved to guys on scooters or those "sports" scooters that look like real bikes until u get close and its like... hmm oh well, wave anyway... lol... Well every scooter i waved to waved to me like it was the last wave of their life... sooooo funny!!

I have to agree that I haven't seen any particular group that doesn't wave. I've had some from all types of rider that don't wave.

  4. They usually aren't difficult. Just have to disconnect the battery and let it sit for 10 minutes. That way the airbag "battery" will be discharged. The connectors for airbags are always yellow. Usually just some bolts/nuts to install them. Where it gets more difficult are side curtain airbags, those are fun.

Damn, I always seem to skip over that first step! I couldn't tell you how many airbags I've pulled without disconnecting the battery! I'm sure it's several hundred, and I haven't heard of hardly any that have deployed for that reason. With that said, I do not advise skipping any of the safety precautions.

Did both airbags blow? If so, you have to replace both for either one to work. Some systems require the airbag module (computer) to be replaced at the same time. Something in the software will not let the system function again after deployment.

As for advice, I have to agree with what many are already saying about learning financial responsibility. I WISH I could geet a grasp on it! Seriously. Live below your means now (less than you make) so that later you can live it up! Save now to be wealthy later.

  5. True story:

Today I was headed in to Kroger on the bike, I waved at a Harley passing in the other direction. As they got closer, I realized they weren't going to see me because they were looking down and behind the bike, must've been looking for parts falling off the thing?

  6. My favorite will always be the bird to my right inner thigh. I was stretching my leg. Bam. Instant charliehorse. Almost fell off the bike.

Now that's funny stuff, right there! Both funny "odd", and funny "haha"!!!

    Glad you survived it though.

My only bird story is a barely missed story, so not worth telling other than it scared the poo right down my leg...

  7. I'm not saying that the driver WASN'T at fault, I'm just cautioning people not to get all militant against the cager before they know the facts.

the rider could have plowed into the back of the car without the driver doing anything wrong.

The rider could have been making an illegal pass, and the driver turned (legally) into his path.

There are lots of "could have" scenarios (including the rider wearing a fucking helmet) that might have changed the outcome here.

without more details, it's premature to be placing any blame.

There are a few dangerous hooligan's out there on 2 wheels, that's for sure. I hope and pray that hearing of fatalities help them to do the right thing and ride responsibly. I HATE to hear of another rider dying doing what we all love.

    RIP Rider.

  8. I've waved in my cage without even really thinking about it, habit I guess.

Did it hurt when your hand hit the door panel, or did you raise your hand up and out the window?

Just because you clicked the nut link, drooling as you stared at it....:p

No, I did NOT click the link. You told me what it was, so I had no need to look. You can look at the thread on my computer tomorrow, the link is still the default, not clicked link color.
