  1. anyone get any pics of the bikes b4 we left or anything?

I had thought about that when I saw that woman walking around with a 20D & kit lens snapping pics. I shoulda brought my camera along.

Which leads to another thought, I need to get a tail bag to put it in. Skip the birthday gifts, just get me Iron Pony gift cards! Tail bag and more riding gear FTW!!!

  2. I try to only log in on my lunch break. Some days are pretty and I'm on more. I agree though.... every other person seems to be just messing around and wasting time at their jobs for hours and hours a day. I don't know how that is alright.

Some of us just have it like that!:D

Actually, anytime I'm not working, I'm not getting paid, since I get paid by what I do, not how long I work.

  3. Love those little 'ceptors, but your right I think sourcing gaskets and such will be a pain. Hope you get her back together though, love to see one on the road.

Well, I tore down the other engine that I have tonight, and the crank looks good! I need to measure everything to figure out which bearings to use, since there are (I think) 4 different rod bearing sizes. Good thing is that most of them are still available, I think.

I found a web site that has gasket sets, but they're out of stock. I'm hoping they can get them back in! As for now, the heads are staying on, and I'm just doing the bearings, so that I can get it back on the road! The engine that I'm taki9ng the crank out of had an issue with smoking, and the oil has coolant in it, so I'm guessing that it has a blown head gasket. I can get a front head gasket, but I'm having troubles locating a rear, unless that kit comes through! At $76 I think it;s a good deal!

  4. Have you checked the availability of a donor engine?

I haven't found one so far, and I'm not going to look all that much since I have a second engine here. The problem I may run into is finding gaskets and such for it. I'm going to talk to the machinist tomorrow, they're working on an engine for us right now anyway (car engine, but they do it all!) Maybe he'll have some good sources for the stuff I need!

  5. If anyone is following, I HAD the bike on the road, and it was running OK, but making a lot of noise. The noise got worse, and I decided to not ride it on the Utica FF poker run yesterday, and I'm glad I did! I started tearing into it today, and #4 rod bearing was spun. The engine had been apart before too, as evidenced by the "backyard orange" high temp RTV. I have the crank out of it, going to measure the big end of the rod, or maybe just have that pair of rods resized. I need to source parts next. I'm also contemplating tearing into the other engine (original from the bike) and just overhauling it.

    Pics later for anyone interested.

  6. love the layout...... funny shit. The design that is...not the work, its pretty slick lookn. NOw, I don't know if you are gonna be able to clear it. I, be a custom painter, have had used a sharpie as a test on some fine detail work on a sample tank I did. The sharpie bleed real bad when clear was applied. Just maybe if a real dry couple of coats was put on first, wait a day or two, then hose on a couple it might stay. Good luck. Next time use some paint pens... hell, you could start a fad of graffiti helmets. lol Cool work..................

:plus1: based on my limited experience, I concur.

  7. There are two signs just outside of Peninsula that say "Radar speed limit enforced". My brain hurts every time I read those signs. Is the radar enforced by the speed limit? No. Fix your grammar, Peninsula.

I've seen that one all over the place. I htink it's an Ohio thing.
