  1. FACT: the tools that the car company provides are complete and utter garbage... toss out the factory lug wrench, buy a chrome moly 4 way bar... $15...

I had a flat once on my Intrepid, got out the "lug wrench" that the car comes with, and the damn thing just twisted out of shape. Good thing I was at home! I ended up bringing home tools from work to pull the wheel. For the record, the lug nuts were not over-tightened.

This reminds me, I need to get something to put in the car in case of a flat. That means spare tire and tools! The factory jack will do the job, but i think I'll grab me a cheap-o breaker bar and socket to keep in there, along with actually putting the spare in the trunk, instead of leaving it at the shop!

  2. problem resolved guys... appreciate all the good info. I def had it all put together right, the chain was just very worn. had a mech look at it and he couldnt find any probs. got a new chain and sprocket andeverything works fine. mech said the fact that i had the chain laying out in the sun for a few hours sunday might have made it expand more then what it was while on the bike. the heat factor with no tension restraint would easily expand an aged and unproperly cared for chain.

im strapped, lubed and ready to bust again!:D

:nono: Explaination makes no sense, but the chain being worn being the final answer does.

Glad to hear that's all it was!

  3. yea, first time i did it i had to look at the booklet that was tucked in the pouch with the rest of my tire changing stuff....my spare is held in by a lock, and its opened through a hole in the rear bumper

THAT is grounds for Man Card revocation! You had to look at the directions? :nono: Someone send MJ to retrieve said Man Card..

Honestly, I'd rather call AAA (if I had it, not much need when a friend owns a towing service) than fight with the jack and stuff that the factory gives you to change a tire. Maybe I'm just a lazy-ass??

  4. I run my high beam all the time during the day' date=' but I think the advantage of a modulator is that it is "different" and commands attention.[/quote']

    :plus1:

I agree, it's just something different that stands out! Maybe a strobe? (Sure that would be less than legal though)

  5. I thought about that, and the money savings would have been nice, but since the tires are already separating...the RF pretty bad...and I'm heading to Columbus tomorrow and then possibly Lake Cumberland friday, I thought I better get them ordered and mounted as quickly as possible. So I guess Tires Unlimited ability to have them next day and only be 7 miles from work is almost an only option. They likely will have them tomorrow and I can swing by after work.

    I do appreciate the offer.

Sometimes convenience and timing is just worth spending a few dollars.

  6. You're the winner....I went with a Kumho. Kumho KR21. Ended up getting them through Tires Unlimited for $385 mounted and balanced using my dealer account :)

It would have been $320 shipped from tirerack.com, I'm not sure anywhere would have put them on for $60 or less.

I don't have any experience with that tire, but that sounds like a good deal! I have run some Kumho's before and liked them.

  7. i dont run bridgestone i dont care for them just thought id let you know we autocrossed the holy shit out of some m3's running those tires and you could tell it was a passenger tire but it was very impressive for everyday driving. I run nokians on everything except my focus it has bfg's

We sell a LOT of the Nokians on trucks and SUV's! They are some really good tires. We've been selling some of the i3's, which seem to be a good tire as well, and the 80k mileage rating for the prices is a good selling point.

  8. So.. am I to use the word stretch when I'm referring to my genitalia since it gets longer every time I think of Jbot in the shower?

Uh, I'm not sure. I guess that depends on if it's getting longer on it's own, or if you're pulling on it....

  9. WOW, there is a 6 o'clock in the morning too. Damn, two in the same day....... wierd

I TRY to forget that one. Once in a while I wake up (or go to sleep) that early.

Just shy of 700 miles and one long ass day and one ticket courtesy of OSP we made it back late sat night. We had a fucking blast and if anyone wants to Iron butt it doen there let me know im always game for that ride

OSP? Was it for 147 MPH?

Sounds like one helluva ride that I would NOT be able to handle! Maybe one day I could ride that many miles...

  10. Yes' date=' I said "wear" and not "stretch".. another argument for another day, perhaps.

Get a new chain and sprocket kit. Is this for the Kat or the Suzi?[/quote']

We'll use stretch, since it ends up being longer, and is easier for people to understand! I'm pretty sure what you mean by wear vs. stretch even though I never really thought of it that way, but it makes sense.

  11. If the damage is at 75 to 80% of the value of the bike it's usually totalled.

Typical range for most all Insurance companies, for bikes and Cars/trucks. I believe State Farm was 80% when my wife's car was almost totaled.

  12. lol. I sure did. What does the slipping clutch mean? It was running like that before the ride on sat. During the meet n greet day it was running 11000rpm at 70mph on highway in 6th.

At 11000 RPM's you should be doing over 90MPH!

Previous owner named it, we agreed that it should remain Kermit.

Although, we're going to murder it the fuck out- flat black ftw! He wants to add green LED's under the plastics after it's painted though.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one that like Kawi's, but not Kawi Green! I bet my wife would like it though.

  13. lol... tiz enough slack to slip off the sprocket. I dont kno how it got like that. i imagine the chain has stretched a bit and its got many miles on it. but it was cool 3 days ago... im pretty fed up with it, takin pics tomorrow and posting. need some seasoned eyes to look at it

probably end up taking links off but def need someone to look at it and become as dumbstruck as i have.

If the chain has stretched enough that you could take out links and have it fit again, DO NOT do so! Once a chain has stretched very much, it will stretch much more VERY quickly, and unpredictably. It would be dangerous to run it anymore.

  14. I like that Assurance Tripletred...

They are expensinve for sure, but I will not put anything else on my daily driver cars. Wet performance is great, snow is great, and ice traction is the best I've ever had. I have about 15k on the one's on my Intrepid, and very little treadwear, and the same on the pair that are on the wife's Malibu. The only "complaint" I have is that they not quite as quiet as some of the other tires I've had, but they're not what I would call noisy. The Michelin Hydroedge is a good tire also, and very comparable. They are both rated in the 70k - 90k range (can't rememeber for sure.)

I've had several tires on the Intrepid, and these are by far the best (and most expensive) I've had Yokohama, Dean (which is made by cooper, and a good, reasonably priced tire) and something else that I can't remember.

OOoo wow! Looks like we can get that new "fuelmax" tire that Goodyear has been running all the commercials about. Rated for 65k miles, about $110 in that size, compared to about $130 for the Tripletread, that is rated for 80k miles.
