  1. lol... tiz enough slack to slip off the sprocket. I dont kno how it got like that. i imagine the chain has stretched a bit and its got many miles on it. but it was cool 3 days ago... im pretty fed up with it, takin pics tomorrow and posting. need some seasoned eyes to look at it

probably end up taking links off but def need someone to look at it and become as dumbstruck as i have.

If the chain has stretched enough that you could take out links and have it fit again, DO NOT do so! Once a chain has stretched very much, it will stretch much more VERY quickly, and unpredictably. It would be dangerous to run it anymore.

  2. I like that Assurance Tripletred...

They are expensinve for sure, but I will not put anything else on my daily driver cars. Wet performance is great, snow is great, and ice traction is the best I've ever had. I have about 15k on the one's on my Intrepid, and very little treadwear, and the same on the pair that are on the wife's Malibu. The only "complaint" I have is that they not quite as quiet as some of the other tires I've had, but they're not what I would call noisy. The Michelin Hydroedge is a good tire also, and very comparable. They are both rated in the 70k - 90k range (can't rememeber for sure.)

I've had several tires on the Intrepid, and these are by far the best (and most expensive) I've had Yokohama, Dean (which is made by cooper, and a good, reasonably priced tire) and something else that I can't remember.

OOoo wow! Looks like we can get that new "fuelmax" tire that Goodyear has been running all the commercials about. Rated for 65k miles, about $110 in that size, compared to about $130 for the Tripletread, that is rated for 80k miles.

  3. Yeah for 250's. My 250 idle's at 2000. Glad I could help Raincheck out in picking his first bike :).

Wow! 2000 at idle??!?! I think mine is about 1500 - 1800 at idle.

I guess at first thought that seemed awfully high, but on the 250 I guess it's not so bad. On the Interceptor 2000 would seems high (such as when the idle hangs like it does!)

  4. Fun shit.

As always, comments/ advice/ abuse are always welcome. If anyone knows a trick for getting the rest of that throttle lag out, lemme know.

I say run it for a while, maybe some seafoam in the tank would help clean it up a bit. Our Ninja 250 had some slight issues that just worked out with riding it!

  5. because some pussy ass kids mom would say it was to gory and her kid would have night mares. :rulez: you forget america is about raising a bunch of non-confrontational wimps that need to be spoon feed and never need to take responsibility for themselves.

    :plus1: THOUSAND!!!!

    'nuf said.

  6. Oh great. We had the whole "Dog" thing come up again today. Now the wife's looking for one, and I odn't really want one. We have 2 cats (one is mine, one she brought with her) and 3 kids.

We're (I'm) thinking about it, and we're (she's) looking for one. Not sure if I'm going to win this one since I HAVE spent quite a bit on gear and other bike stuff....

  7. Welcome to the site. I mean...they say terrible, horrible stuff about Aerik...but he's not half bad. :D

He must not be too bad of a guy to give you all the help on the Ninja!

    Welcome to the madness!

Enjoy that Ninja 250, I do mine!

  8. Checking in, I've been home for a little while now. I peeled off from TaRR on 16 when he went home, and I just HAD to stop at 79N again to see that corner in more detail. I have no idea how you assholes aren't in jail right now. :D Picked up a few more souvenirs, another piece of my front fender and a chunk of my belly pan.

    Still no pics???

  9. You're welcome man!

And before this turns into another pissing match about how coshocton rides are so called "dangerous" and "unorganized", if anyone that wasn't on the ride would like to voice their opinion of how we operate a ride you can contact me.

I would never question the Coshocton guys and their safety, or abilities. Unless I would witness them actually being squids, which I doubt, from the guys from OR.

  10. Cool cool, sounds like the similar problem we had won't be too hard to solve once we get the new (matching) jets and needles in today.

My buddy Mike (who met some people on here at the meet n greet) was able to get the main jets for like 6 bucks, good stuff. They should match the US-spec stock stuff we have.

Now we're just waiting for the team to assemble, and we'll be back at it.

And yeah, I think it'll be a great little bike for him (he's a short dude and still a new rider), although it terrified me on the ride back because I felt like I was gonna pull an endo every time I used the front brakes.

Wow! 6 bux! Can't beat that with a stick!

The brakes are AMAZING for what they are! Just look at how small the front rotor is, compared to the stopping power they have! I know they're in no ways near what you get on a newer supersport bike though. The brakes on our Ninja caught me off guard yesterday since I had been on the Interceptor all week, and took the Ninja for a ride. I think the fronts on the Ninja are better than the dual disc on the Honda! Maybe I just need to replace the pads (and rotors) on the Honda? The rotors are pretty worn....

  11. Congrats to RainCheck on the new to him bike! We have a Ninja 250, and I love that little bike!

When I got mine, it had issues idling as well. Mine would stall occasionally, and at other times it would hang at a higher RPM than it should. After a few tankfuls of gas, and some adjustment of the pilot screws, all is well. I got a new set of tires since the originals are pretty horrid. I haven't messed with a thing, other than chain lube, and checking fluids, etc since. Also, 60+ MPG isn't too bad, either!

  12. It gets you from point A to B and you have fun it's all that matters. :)

    :plus1:

you could be right, the torque is only 16 ft lbs... maybe I was wrong, I can't find the hp listed anywhere online, just torque

edit* 31 Hp, booyah coooking with gas!

Wow! I think the previous Nninja 250's were rated around 35 Hp!

I do have to agree with the 70 MPH top speed being a bit limiting, even though it is more than the LEGAL speed limit in Ohio. It's not so much that it will go faster, it CAN go faster, more that you have some in reserve than anything!

But yeah, ride what you ride, and are happy with! Reading about 120 MPG makes me a bit sad about my 60 - 70 MPG on the ninja 250!
