The sad thing about this kind of accident is that she won't get hardly any time. If you want to kill someone in America and get away with it,just put them on a motorcycle and hit them with a car.Gauranteed short sentence.

Hocking and Wayne area - current pavement conditions question
drc32-0 replied to Mary#17's topic in Daily Ride
I think I saw that same snake down on 356 a couple weekends ago...about 6 feet long with a nice thick body.He was in a lazy coil right on the center line. When I went by him he just raised his head a little bit...he didn't seem to concerned. -
Hocking and Wayne area - current pavement conditions question
drc32-0 replied to Mary#17's topic in Daily Ride
685 is closed about a mile and a half from SR13 from June 11 for 21 days. You can still ride it from SR 78 at Buchtel to the closed bridge...all the good stuff is before the bridge closure anyway. 669 has brand new pavement, but can be dirty in spots due to farmers entering/exiting fields.669 from Eaglesport to Crooksville is a VERY good ride. 180 and 678 are in very good condition as is Big Pine from 664 to 374.I haven't been on Kreashbaum this year. 691 paving is complete now...the edge gravel has been sealed down so the gravel situation is much better. 690 and 78 between Glouster and McConnelsville are in pretty good condition but their pavement is getting a little old so there may be a rough spot here and there. As for other good roads in the areas you have listed...in the Hocking Hills,Thompson Ridge Rd from 374 to Luarlville(sic?) has some fun sweepers. 356 is just a mile away from the bottom of 691 and continues the twisty ride down to 50. If you take 78 or 669 to McConnellsville go across the river and pick up 376 and take it up to Gaysport. -
685 is going to close June 11 for 21 days for a bridge replacement about 1 1/2 miles from SR13.You can still do an out and back from SR78 at Buchtel to the bridge and catch all the good stuff. As a matter of fact it might be better since it will only be local traffic using it.

That course "Motorcycles and American Culture" sounds interesting.

I'm 51 with an '04 FJR coming up on 94,000 miles. We need to get a ride together.

Is anyone else riding this beast? If you're not...check out the newly paved section from just below SR33 at Nelsonville down to SR56.

I noticed today that the county is paving River Road from Philo to Gaysport.Paving that section of River Road will make a great detour around 555 when it closes. As a matter of fact this route is far better than the upper section of 555 anyway. 555>River Road s>Left@Gaysport Bridge>376 s>78 w>669 n>555@ Deavertown. Both 376 from Gaysport to McConnelsville and 669 from Eaglesport to Deavertown are very good roads. You can also just blitz down 60 to 376 at Gaysport.

You went right by two really good recently paved roads...as mentioned here 685, and 691.Both are now completely finished and ready to go. If you want another great twisty ride head over to 669 that runs between Crooksville and Eaglesport. It goes farther on each end,but that's the fun, newly paved section.

Just iron butt it out to Denver, get the IBA plate, and spend more time riding in Colorado. There's nothing between Columbus and Denver that is going to be as good as once you get into the mountains of Colorado.Plus, that IBA plate would look real good on that Multistrada.

Thanks, but I went ahead and ordered one.I was hoping someone had one laying around and I could get her back on the road this weekend.
-
"just got out and rode" < Those are some of the best rides...no route,no destination...just head down whatever road looks interesting.
-
^^^ 669 is great right now,but he posted that on 7/7/10...I don't think he's heading here this weekend.

According to the Zanesville Times Recorder 555 will close for 30 days beginning July 15 for a slip repair 3 1/2 miles south of Zanesville.
-
I need one asap.If I can't find one by Monday I'll just order it and wait.If you have one laying around send me a p.m. Thanks.

This could be interesting if you have the qualifications... http://www.motusmotorcycles.com/jobs.html?utm_source=Motus+Updates&utm_campaign=7cdbd932c4-Pre-Daytona+2012+Update+%231&utm_medium=email I like that they consider military service.Good luck to anyone who applies.

Not necessarily...just dig a little deeper. If you stay off of 664 and the lower section of 374 you should be o.k.Try some of the good county roads such as Big Pine,Thompson Ridge,Kreashbaum and Illsboro-Ceder Falls to name a few. Also,go a little east to 356 and freshly paved 691.You won't see to much tourist traffic on any of these roads except possibly Big Pine.
-
691 has the base layer down in both directions and the finish layer down for about 2/3 of its length in the north bound lane and a little less in the south bound lane.A very good ride with just the base layer. Here's a snaky section in the middle of 691 today... You might want to hit it before ODOT edges it with gravel...here's what 685 looks like two weeks after being edged...

^^^ that plus challenging people to ride fast(possibly above their abilities) equals an increased L.E.O. presence in the Hocking Hills.I ride the H.H.s area quite a bit and I sure don't need more L.E.O.s hanging around.Thanks.
-
This would be a very good time to ride that route.

We had 23 bikes from 5 states and Canada and several people said the east route was one of the top 10 rides they have ever ridden. We didn't get to ride the west route. That's pretty high praise from a group of riders that have ridden most of the good stuff in America and some of Canada. These two routes will definitely show you why people hold Southeastern Ohio riding in high regard. It's all here...creek followers, ridge top rides, forest roads, climbs and descends and the natural beauty of the Hocking Hills.

The East route...564 is being paved right now...thank God.First mile of CR15-Dalzell Rd is about a 6 on a 1to10 scale, then at the county line it becomes a 9 or 10.536 is about a 5 or 6.The 78 section is about a 6 or 7,but it is being paved this year.147 is a little rough in places, but overall about an 8.Long Ridge and Short Ridge roads are pretty rough, but they are just used to get to an outstanding overlook at Keidash Piont Park. The rest of the East route is at least an 8 with some sections sporting brand new pavement...bottom of 800,145,part of 565,parts of 26 and 148 come to mind. The West route...The West route has very good pavement on nearly the entire route. The only exceptions that come to mind are 329 and 676 are probably about a 6 or 7,and 691 is rough, but it is being paved right now.As you know 374 has new pavement as does 339 from Beverly to Dexter City, both outstanding rides!

We just finished the 2012 FJR Ramble and I thought some long distance twisty lovers might be interested in a couple of very good routes. We had one route for East of I-77 and one route for West of I-77.Unfortuneately, we didn't get to do the West route due to rain...we'll do it later in the summer or fall. These are long routes at 312 miles and 347 miles, but you can slice 'em and dice 'em for shorter loops...a lot of good stuff here...
-
Can't think of any real good eats, but you're in for a pleasant surprise when you get to where 669 and 555 share the same route...brand new pavement. If you like really curvy rides, hang a left and take 669 down to Eaglesport.
