Let's get a thread going about what kind of power tools a shop should have and what you've used. I'm looking at adding a drill press and bench grinder to my shop, just not sure on the brand/style. These things seem to go from zero to crazy expensive really quick. Looking at a WEN drill press but need to see more reviews about how they do with metal. Bench grinder I've found a few on Amazon that are in the 3/4 range.

Thanks for the info. Right now it appears we just have one of those single stage whole house filters before the softner and that thing gets dirt bag dirty quick.

I already had the zinc/aluminum rod on the way and swapped that out last night and today there were no issues with the smell of the water. I've read that for some this solves the issue for good, others it doesn't. Now I know we don't have a really bad hard water issue because dishes look spotless and there's no film on anything in the shower. What system did you get exactly for the water softener? I might try one of the filter systems since those seem to help and are a little cheaper. If that doesn't fix it then I'll look at the water softener too. Thanks everyone for the input, this has been helpful and keep it coming in case someone else has an issue or questions.

I've got someone coming out to do a water test on Wednesday but I might talk to the Hauge people as well. So I'm doing research on how to solve for a sulfur/rotten eggs smell in our well water. It's worse when the hot water is run, can't really smell it with cold water. I've had a few CR people pass me information via social media and phone about replacing the anode rod on the hot water tank. I don't know if it's ever been done since it looks sealed still and the previous homeowner was allergic to basic home maintenance. Another option is that I'm going to shock the well soon to see if that will help. The final option and where I need some ideas at is for possibly replacing the water softener and adding some extra filtration. What should I look for here and what do some of you use? I've heard all kinds of terms like iron out systems and what not, but I want to see what real life people use and what works for them.
