  1. Always pushing for sunday rides and you can't even make it when it is set up, huh speedy? Haha, don't worry inya, I should be there at least. I can't make the Saturday ride, so I'm going somewhere Sunday and it might as well be this route. I haven't descided what bike to take out yet though.
  2. This one is going on Sunday, whereas magzfest is Saturday. Can't help with the mid-ohio decision though. By the way, what kind of end time are we looking at for this?
  3. Those usually dont just fall off. Are you sure they are off your bike? If so, you can just tape them on where the residue is, otherwise you will have to get it re-balanced. That also seems like a lot for a mc rim imo.
  4. I do have a graves FE, I just need some turn signals before I install it. Track bike idea isn't bad, I could just street it with a projector and some turn signals pretty easy.
  5. Ask and you shall receive. The r1 is here and the 600rr is here. I don't have updated pics of the 600rr right now, but just imagine no upper, mids, or lowers and stock everything else. Reasoning? I am willing to take that into consideration if there is a legitimate reason behind it. Any sources for that? I did a quick search and I didn't find anything, but that is certainly something I do not want to run into again. This would be ideal, unfortunately I would no longer be making money (I do need some at the current moment) and I would probably be without a bike for a little while. Both not ideal, but it IS still an option.
  6. I'm all for freedom of choice; I endorse no helmet laws for the same reason I endorse no seat belt laws. However, the issue here is Michigan's no-fault insurance policy which means in the end that everyone has to pay more money. Its not an issue of hospitals, its an issue of insurance companies. Since they will keep their bottom lines the same, they will just increase rates due to higher payouts. I shouldn't have to pay for others' choices, they should. The same reason that a person applying for a ccw needs to pay fees and class costs; they have to pay to exercise their right. It may not be perfect, but it is ideal.
  7. The only issues with that is then I am not keeping any of the money and I don't think I would benefit from anything off a new bike over either of my current ones, especially the modded r1. It would probably be the most exciting option though (who doesn't love buying new bikes!)
  8. *update* An upper for the 600rr should be here Wednesday or so, but it also has blown front fork seals. I just rode the r1 into work today and near the end of the trip I started to hear a rattle at idle, so it might need a new cct. I will have to wait till after work to look into it further..in the rain.* Through a couple different sales and trades, I have ended up with two sportbikes; a 2002 r1 and a 2003 600rr. I feel like I have too much money wrapped up in both, so I would rather sell one and just keep one (or option 3, sell both and buy a new one. Kind of defeats the benefit of making money). Both have pro's and con's obviously, and I can probably make a good amount off either if sold. Both also have newer tires and brakes. I'm not sure which one to choose so I am asking for your opinions on which you would rather have and why. '03 600rr: -16,000 miles (sat for the last year and a half) -completely stock (technically needs mirrors and upper to get back to stock) -I personally checked valves, crank, clutch and know they are in spec -could possibly double+ my investment (either way it would cover the amount paid for either bike) -Worse condition (fairing are in the process of being repaired and sprayed, lower crankcase was cracked and welded from a highside) '02 r1: -31,000 miles (1K within the last year) -don't know about valves, clutch etc (possibly a bigger issue with the higher miles) -can cover my investment+ (lots of extra parts, but its older so the AM/stock parts sell less quickly) -Better condition (looks great, only problem is headlights arn't working properly but I'm sure I will get that figured out once I have time to look at it) -modded out: - Akropovic full system - Power Commander III - Attack rearsets with carbon fiber heel gaurds - Graves clip-ons - Ohlins rear shock - 520 conversion with Vortex sprockets and DID gold chain - SS brake lines - Ohlins steering damper - Brembo raidial front master cylinder - t-rex Frame sliders - Ohlins front fork internals - Zero double bubble clear windscreen - Graves fender eliminator (not installed yet) - CRG clutch lever (not installed yet) - Shark swingarm guard Bonus info: When things lighten up, I will be doing trackdays (how often depends on cash flow) but it will be mostly street duty. I know full well that I cannot maximize either bike's potential, but that doesn't mean I necessarily want the lesser of the two. The purpose of getting rid of one is a quick sale, to maximize the money in my bank account, and still have the best I can with no regrets.
  9. Truth! I almost always go to CL meet ups with others (usually just stay back in their cars while I do the deal) and always armed. For a meeting like this, I would want a convoy. I still haven't bothered contacting any of them because I know its a scam. They are probably just going to say to wire the money somewhere and the bike will be delivered because they are..away for business..got deployed..some other bs excuse.
  10. /confusion Inya said in the op that it wasn't set in stone, I guess it is now
  11. I am confused as well what day people are saying is best. The only day I can't do would be Saturday I believe, so I'm with speedy and say Sunday
  12. I will be installing a PCIII and downloaded map on a 02 r1 within the next three days. If you really want I could post step by step instructions (but really its as easy wiring in 3 connectors and downloading a map with a usb cord). You should just be able to remove the plugs with a spark plug socket after the ignition coils have been taken out, and then just check to see how they look.
  13. 50 rounds, and $23 is a good price. I think it was $28 last time I was in fin, and around $29 other places. Reloading it can get down to about $0.20-$0.25 a round depending on scale
  14. Anyone ever heard of olx.com? My buddy started looking for a bike and was telling me of these insane prices on bikes, so I had to check it out for myself. There are multiple 07 r1's for <$3000, an 09 gsxr for $2600, and plenty of other terribly priced bikes. Does anyone know if this is a scam or what? There is no way these are selling with clean titles for that much. Link of the gsxr for reference http://littlestown.olx.com/2009-suzuki-gsx-r-600-iid-216382114
  15. The new paint will probably hurt the value depending on what color you do. When I see new paint on a bike the first thing I think of is that its hiding a low speed crash and the fairings got rash. If you do any personal colors (including oranges, yellow etc) it will limit the market. I have seen a couple bikes get painted in the $800-900 range, but I am assuming your friend will do it for just the cost of paint. Honestly, I doubt yours needs it. Once I get all the fairings for mine I will paint it however I like because I don't care about the resale at this time. If you are doing it for looks, go for it; if you are doing it for resale, I would hold off (unless you're trying to bring it back to factory)
  16. I would, but Mechanicsburg is a little further then I want to go for a 12 hour class. A 16 hour day is less then ideal for me
  17. Looks nice, but it is also $120 a person. I know I saw somewhere on here a while ago that someone is cbus was offering them for $65 Where is this at and how much are classes? My commute isn't too far from there
  18. I am looking to get my ccw soon and was wondering what courses people recommend around cuyahoga county? I'm also open to meeting up with someone and taking the class together, if enough people join up we can get a discount.
  19. I just got home and I had a great time and feel like I learned a ton. A big thanks goes out to CSBA and everyone for putting this on! I also want to thank whomever gave me directions to a twisty way home; they were spot on and that was just what I needed to end the riding portion of my day.
  20. I'll be riding an 03' 600rr down there. Its naked right now, but that doesn't affect body positioning. Just as long as it doesn't get (more) damaged I think I can offer it up. I would be more worried about the stands to be honest. If they are nice, then I will feel confident setting it up. I can't bring a chair if I am riding down. I will hopefully be bringing a bookbag depending on how it feels (never rode bookbag + 1 piece combo)
  21. I don't know much I get because I almost always fill up around 120mi. I'm not sure a gas station will be around after that distance. So how many gallons are you using? I got 38mpg with about 0.5gal of bad gas, and 3gal of 89 octane out of my '03. If you want fuel efficiency, you trade performance. I am in 6th always on the freeway in the 7-7.5k rpm range, and on city streets I keep it at 5-6k rpm to keep the stator charging, thats my only requirement. A downshift or two is a at most a second away, then I have plenty of power. Besides, my first instinct in dealing with distracted drivers is not acceleration. I would think a quick flick and deceleration would be safer. If you want better fuel efficiency, jack up the tire pressure a few psi (you can get harder tires too, but thats at a limiting returns probably), ride lower in the rmm range, dont accelerate hard etc. Basically, take away anything you desired when getting the bike. The double R doesn't stand for fuel economy or commuting, so you are pretty much stuck where you are at.
  22. Even though you have ruled out the battery (not fully convinced myself) have you checked the R/R circuit?
  23. I certainly have no problem helping when I have free time. For starters, the carbs overflowing is going to be an issue with the carbs and not the petcock. Sounds to me like the floats are sunk, or possibly the needle valve seats. Either way it would need a carb rebuild. For the rough running, have you synced the carbs?
