  1. A word of advice, your chances of going down are greatly reduced if you stay on the track. I bet 90% of novice rider tip overs occur off the track. Grass may look like a good option, but it's not. At novice speeds you generally have some margin left if you find yourself slightly astray. Keep it on the pavement. I'm also kinda against "cheap track bikes." I see some shady stuff being ridden by people under the assumption that they're going to crash anyway, and have witnessed several failures of these piles right in front of me. Put the most mechanically sound bike you can out there. Still, don't take anything you can't afford to lose out there, as there are still a few elements outside your control. As has been stated though, if you keep yourself in check, you're probably better off there than on the street - much less control of outside elements there.
  2. You push it up there as far as you can reach, hold it there with the front brake while you climb up on the tailgate, and then push it in the rest of the way. It's not rocket surgery.
  3. I don't know what people mean by "overheat," maybe they're just afraid of seeing 200s on the temp gauge. On my CBR the fan kicks on around 221 and shuts back off at 215. Temp drops really quick when the fan kicks on. If the temp continued to rise over 221 with the fan on, I would consider that a problem. If the bike starts spitting coolant out the overflow, then you really have a problem. I don't lube cables. I don't think you're supposed to anymore. If I suspect the cable isn't moving properly due to either wear or contamination I'll replace it. It could be you, an improper adjustment, or a terminal problem. I learned to continue to hold the shifter up while releasing the clutch to ensure positive engagement. Maybe that's how your supposed to do it, but when I started riding I would let the shifter return before releasing the clutch. If you "make like a clicking noise" too many times you end up rounding off the gear dogs, and it's a vicious circle from there until it won't stay in gear anymore.

  6. Gave it a fair try this week (5 days, 450 miles) and decided I'm not into the street riding thing, at least not on a supersport. Bike is for sale as soon as I get a chance to shake down the new track bike (probably June 18th).
  7. Just don't try to drag your elbow out of the parking lot. I've put new tires on at the track and forgot about it in half a lap. After the normal lap and a half it takes to warm them up they were good to go. You encounter planty more on the street to reduce traction than any residual mold release or whatever - just peel the stickers off and ride normal.
  8. My trackbike has a clip on it. The PO had it installed backwards. I flipped it around and put RTV on it to make the tech guys happy. Guess I'm living dangerously. Never had one come off my CR125.
  9. Your Busa is fine for a track day. However, if you're going to the effort of setting up another bike for track only, I sure as hell wouldn't make it a Hayabusa. I've ridden with the guy that made that video. I think he was on here last summer but not sure what his username is. You should get ahold of him on his website - he's a good guy and his opinion would definitely be a valid one.
  10. When mountain biking in the skate shoes I wear, I tuck the knot/loops/ends back under in between the laces and the tounge. They stay tied like this pretty much indefinitely since the knot isn't just flopping around, and I just slip them on and off. If wearing lace-up boots on a motorcycle, I tuck them in in whatever fashion works. The more embarrassing danger on a motorcycle is when you go to put your foot out when you stop and the laces are caught on the peg. I only did that once (luckily I managed to rip away from the peg before I fell over).
  11. If JT would've ran and told on those kids as soon as he found out, the whole state would hate him. Can you really blame him for keeping the problems in-house? He probably resigned just because he's sick of dealing with this non-stop BS. I'm sure sick of hearing about it.
  12. Total marketing win when the segment that knows nothing about bikes overwhelmingly chooses yours. Good job on Suzuki's part. Nothing wrong with the bikes either.
  13. Anybody watch this week's Southpark? Took me awhile to figure out what it was actually about. www.southparkstudios.com/news/387534/watch-crack-baby-athletic-association-now
  14. I wonder if the novice helmet restriction has a negative effect in that it is sort of a status symbol to be able to ride without one, i.e. "I'm not new at this."
  15. Maiden voyage today, rode to Midohio up 314 which was actually kinda nice. Took 71 home which kinda sucked, but it sprinkled briefly when I was leaving and I had no idea whether or not I was in for a pop-up thunderstorm like last night. I did get an uncontrollable grin in my helmet about 3 miles into my ride, but after that it was kinda meh. Rolling along at 55 or whatever seems so pathetic, everytime I enter a bend I want to roll on throttle when I see the exit, then I remember I'm already "at the limit." It's kinda sad in that I feel I've put the bike out to pasture. Anyhow, it looks sexy as phuck, here's a pic I snapped on my phone. Nothing that seems like it would take 12 hours, but I'm kinda slow and particular and that's pretty much how everything I do goes. By the time I sorted through all the stock bits and associated hardware that had been in my basement for three years, as well as the Service Honda order for all the parts I cannibalized, cleaned everything up, figured out how it all went back together and got it done, it was a long day. Oh, and I guess if you missed it, this was my track-only bike for the past three years that you see in my avatar. I picked up a slightly less pristine example and moved all the track parts and whatever else I needed over to get that one done.
  16. For $275 you can have your way with her at Midohio. You don't even need to fuel her up or lube her chain first, and at the end of the day you just walk away.
  17. Got a motorcycle license plate this morning for the first time in three years. Spent about 12 hours putting this bike back together. Was gearing up for maiden voyage just before 11 when a thunderstorm hit. At least I didn't get caught in it. Probably better anyway as I was exhausted and amped up at the same time. Feels like the first time all over again...
  18. Ha. Random story. I was headed up there one Friday afternoon and hit Chicago around rush hour. Got off the freeway to get gas, and when I got back on the car I was previously behind was the one to let me merge back in.
  19. It's interesting that "replacing the hood, front bumper, driver side fender and headlight" will total out a $22k car, but assuming it's not a lemon, the only downside I've heard of is that the insurance value is lower for a rebuilt (if it gets wrecked again, they're not going to pay you as much for it).
  20. Last I heard Hayes uses zero traction control. Somebody on the broadcast credited Tommy's improvement in race 2 to overnight electronics tuning. Doesn't necessarily make him faster, but sure seems to save the tire.

    Filthy MILFS

That's gonna be a hefty cable bill next month, assuming you have time to watch them all.
