  1. Go with your gut. We're all just throwing "food for thought" out there. If I had the means, I'd have 15 bikes in the garage because I still haven't found that perfect "do everything" bike, though I came close to buying a WeeStrom because it sounds like it'd be pretty close. Your money man, get what you want. Or tell the GF she can't ride anymore. Get a solo seat cover (from Suzuki) so you can ditch the rear seat. "Sorry babe, no place for you to sit".
  2. The SixFiddy is a much better bike than you might think it is. I resurrected an '03 SV650 a couple of winters ago, put a GSXR front end on it, and LOVEDDDDD it. So I started thinking that "650 is good, so the SV1k would be even better". Found an 07 1k in GA, brought it home, swapped the GSXR front end on to it, and streetfightered it a little bit. I wish I had kept the 650. Don't get me wrong, the 1k is a lot of fun. I like to play in twisty stuff, and the 650 would just go wherever I thought about going. Incredible handling. The 1k will get there, but takes some effort. Not nearly as seamless and "mindless" as the 650 was. I've thought about selling the 1k and going back to a 650, but don't want to put the work in to it. Maybe one day. I completely agree with a lot of comments in your thread, most notably "I'm glad I don't have 1k envy" (though I did), and "Its funner to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow". My buddy on his Aprilia 125 and me on my NSR had a lot more fun at Deals Gap than our buddy who was on his RC51. I don't need to go 140 mph, and a bigger engine doesn't mean a bike is a better touring bike. Its all about vibration, wind, and comfort, though.
  3. You got a "Wednesday vehicle". Or one made in Mexico.
  4. This may not be a good apples-to-apples analogy, but mannnnny years ago, on our honeymoon, my wife and I rented a Chrysler Sebring (I think...) convertible while in FL. We decided to run over to Cocoa Beach from Orlando one afternoon, and on the way over, it started to rain. We put the top up, and continued on our way. We started feeling splashes/ drops/ moisture on our faces. Not only was the front edge of the convertible not sealing, but water was coming in around the windshield (between the glass and the seal). Oh, and the car only had 700 miles on it. Lots may have changed since 1992. Dunno. Never had any other brand do anything like that to me, though. Two neighbors had jeeps (one a Liberty and the other a basic Cherokee with the awesome straight six). The Liberty seems to do okay, but the Cherokee guy got tired of working on his. Had the dash out at least twice in 18 mos for bad heater cores. Then it was little sniggly stuff. Same guy had two Chrysler mini vans, and both were junnnnkkkkk. Don't know why he kept buying them. Now he has a Civic and a Pilot, and loves them. Boss at one job had a Grand Cherokee, and it was ALWAYS in the shop.
  5. I love Dodge/ Jeep styling, but I don't view them as very dependable/ reliable/ quality vehicles, which is too bad. Oh, and that whole bailout thing....
  6. Holy cow. He said "don't watch it if its going to upset you". With that caveat, did you watch it anyhow, THEN complain about it? I read the entire thread, but didn't watch the video because he LET ME KNOW THAT ITS PROBABLY NOT SOMETHING THATS GONNA MAKE MY DAY OR LIFE BETTER. He gave us a heads-up. If you ignored it, then you made your choice, so stop complaining. Be responsible for your own actions. If you DIDN'T watch it, stop complaining.
  7. Why? Is it because I'm not from Hamilton???? Are you profiling? You'll see me in town, near the Golden Lamb or on my way to Rural King at some point, and feel horrible for doubting me. Its gonna be the talk of the town.
  8. But I generally don't buy new, due to the depreciation, and living near Dayton, I feel obligated to support GM (although GM abandoned this town in a big way, but I digress). Jumped on Craigslist and found this. Too good to pass up, so brought it home. So far, so good, but the ride is pretty stiff, and I can't turn more than 15 degrees at a time, so lots of backing up and going forward again until I get it pointed the way I want to go.
  9. THIS is a great looking car. I stopped in on Rt4 last winter, looked at a Veloster, went for a test drive. It wouldn't get out of its own way, which I guess is the trade off for good gas mileage. I owned a 04 Mazda 3 2.3 auto non-turbo and LOVEDDDDD that car. Rode well, handled awesome, and had enough ooomph to be fun. But now you say there's a turbo Veloster? May have to stop by the dealer again....
  10. That's all the gear I need, Jack!
  11. spit Or Squirt Water On The Headers
  12. If the tank petcock is like most, it has screens on it to act as filters. I don't see a need for an additional filter. I don't even put them on my ATVs.

  15. Watching Fridays race now (DVR). What did Larry do to his hair??
  16. Under warranty= take it to the dealer, esp if its stressing you out this much.
  17. Well. Hmmmm. At least now I don't have to worry about what to get her for Valentines Day next year.

  19. They need to put at least the 450's in them for the US market, IMHO. I don't have any interest in a 225/ 250. Owned an SMC625 for a year, and it vibrated so much that it blurred my vision. Other than that it was a great hooligan bike (far beyond my capabilities).
