Moto Series - Beaver Run - September 10 & 11
wantahertzdonut replied to APCh8r's topic in Track is Crack
Lol, ok. I remember trying to pass him but he was all over the track that it made a safe pass rather tricky, then he'd out engine me on the straights. I think he got pissed after I got around him a few times, hence the ugly stares. -
I haven't found a set of insulated gloves that don't pinch circulation to my fingers. My bike came with some dirtbike hand guards which I'll be reinstalling for fall which block a lot of wind, and I wear latex gloves underneath my usual riding gloves. I wish I could find something better, I may look into getting a very large set of winter gloves that fit over my regular gloves and give that a try.

Moto Series - Beaver Run - September 10 & 11

What was their deal anyway? I was pitted across from them and they seemed...odd. -
Any chance you might sell just one?

Got back late last night after a loooong day. I had a morning full of scares since my bike was all over the place, so I dropped down into the B group to get a decent tow. Plus I was tired as hell so I could barely focus. The heat didn't help and running out of water marked the end of my day. Overall it was a great time, I think I'll wait for another long weekend and go for Sunday and return Monday however. 4.5hour drives on both ends of trackdays make me weary!

FS: 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1, Cleveland
wantahertzdonut replied to wantahertzdonut's topic in Other Stuff
Anybody who really is interested, feel free to come look and make an offer. I like the car but I'd also really like to sell it. Jbot- You can buy it and do anything you want with it! You can also have any beer you want, so long as it's a Corona. -
I'm a little late to this, but I got my hitch from Etrailer for my IS300. Great service and prices were good, plus the people on the phone were a big help when it came to getting some of the wiring issues addressed before I made my final purchase (I needed an auxiliary harness to power the trailer lights). I'd happily buy from them again.

Lots of photos here 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1. Car is located near Cleveland, OH. Original RUST FREE sheet metal car from California. Never has seen snow, salt, and has been kept dry in the 6 years I've owned it. I built this car to be a great driving road car that loves to corner. It retains its original 351 Windsor engine and has about 9000 miles on a rebuild. The transmission is a 5-speed Tremec TKO600 manual that was brand new at time-of-install. I have the rest of the original drivetrain boxed up. The original FMX automatic transmission had about 7000 miles on a rebuild before I swapped it out. I used all new components and a cable actuated clutch. The only used part is an aluminum drive shaft from an Ford Police Interceptor. I replaced the radiator with a large aluminum unit rated for up to 500 horsepower. The suspension has been completely upgraded with brand new name-brand components. The front end features Global West tubular upper and lower control arms, Opentracker roller spring perches, Rosehill Performance solid adjustable strut rods, KYB GR2 shocks, Mustangs Plus 620lb lowering springs, and TRW tie-rod ends and sway bar links. The rear suspension has 5-leaf reverse-eye springs and Global West spring shackles with serviceable bushings. The car is equipped with power steering and has a Flaming River steering gearbox, Opentracker roller idler arm, and Global West solid tie rod adjustment sleeves. These are all a tremendous improvement over the original design. The body is original sheet metal and is RUST FREE. The hood and front valance have been repainted recently and show very well. The rest of the car has been resprayed in the past and shows signs of wear, and I've touched up any large chips to the best of my ability. It shines up very well. I would call it a 5-footer. The interior was new as of 2005. There is a fold-down rear seat that came from the factory. The sail panels have not been replaced and are worn. I added a 13" Grant steering wheel. I have the original rim-blow wheel in a box. The only thing on this car that doesn't work is the horn. I have not been able to trace the problem. I replaced the steering column harness but to no avail. I don't know if there is a broken wire somewhere or if the problem lies in my steering wheel adapter. The car has power drum brakes and I will include a kit to mount the front 13" brake rotors from a 2003/4 Mustang Cobra. I will also include brand new rotors, calipers, and mounting brackets. Installing this setup will require 17" or larger wheels. Other extras include a new-in-box grille and extra misc. trim pieces. I also have a Marti report and a reproduction door tag. I'm asking $20,000 or best offer. I'm eager to get this out of my garage for other things. IMG]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v147/wantahertzdonut/1970%20Mustang/IMGP5795.jpg

Anybody have any feedback on the hotel? I'm just looking for some place that's clean and nearby with breakfast. I can't find any reviews about the hotel, only the golf course.

Yep, that was me, #55 with the eyeball sticker on the headlight.

I dropped my Bandit backing out of a parking spot by rolling backwards down a slight slope, then turning. Gas in the tank sloshed and took me down. I dropped it again trying to turn around inside a driveway. I was on my way to look at my current bike. Fortunately they didn't see me since I was planning on going for a test ride! My current street bike fell off my makeshift work stand while the wheels were off. That was a treat to pick up. It fell on carpet but did catch a toolbox with the front fender leaving a little scratch. It also fell in the garage when I moved it and didn't realize the kickstand got bumped up. No damage there. I've been run off the track and dumped in the grass, and lowsided once on my street bike. Minimal damage but that's why I have two bikes for two uses.

Thanks for the links!

I haven't sold a bike but have had one of my cars on CL for some time, and it's just scammers. When I listed my girlfriend's beater Lumina a few years ago, it was only legitimate parties. It seems that the nicer the item is for sale, the number of scammers increases.

Signed up today, I let this one slide till after a payday. Thanks for the heads up on the photographer and the food situation. Looks like I'll plan on bringing a lunch. I'll be interested in checking out the burrito place for dinner!

Moto Series - Beaver Run - September 10 & 11

I'm signed up and going for sure. -
They were cool with my numbers, all was well. That's a bummer Ray isn't at Beaverun any longer. He took the best track photos I've seen. (they're all good from whoever takes them, his were just exceptional) I did see a woman taking photos at T4 on Saturday, but I have no idea if she was selling photos or not. We were told there wasn't a photographer that day, but if this mystery photographer was the girl you mentioned, is there a way to contact her? I'll be back to BR with Motoseries on Sept 10 and would love to get photos of my bike as it's done up for the season.

I've been waiting for an excuse to post this. DAS BUSA sightings

Anybody know what the facility is like? My girlfriend is coming with me so I'm sure we'll get a hotel Friday night, but we may wind up needing food and that sort of thing. Does STT usually bring photographers too?
-
No, the pace was pretty good for me in the B group, and the track was next to deserted with only 10 riders by mid day. Intermediate had at least double the crowd, and I had a few things I really wanted to work on so I was happy to stay where I was.
-
I'll plan on singing up for this today. Might do it here at work if I get a chance.

Grattan Raceway with STT, Sept 3-4 (Labor Day Weekend) I'm eyeballing this as an excuse to try another track this season, and going on the 3rd. Anyone else considering the date?

I had a similar experience in Florida back in July on a rented HD. Wearing full gear in 95 degree air with 70-80% humidity and strong sun doesn't feel too good. Mix in black asphalt with an air cooled bike and it gets pretty hot! I was ok but my girlfriend on the back didn't last long. BUT, skin grafts don't tickle. I'll leave my gear on!

Isn't that what happened to the dump truck that crashed into the median wall here in Cleveland about a month ago? After having a retread come apart on a truck in front of me years ago, I stay the hell away from trucks, whether on my bike or in my car. When something goes wrong, I certainly don't want to be in its path. Plus there's those huge blind spots, which I don't know why people insist on sitting in.

That weather was outstanding! I remember seeing small patches of falling rain but none came near us, and it was lightly filtered sun with a very comfortable temp the rest of the day. Overall I had a very positive experience riding with NESBA too. The B group had a pretty good pace by mid-morning and I think there was a maximum of 15 riders on the track, I didn't want to bump! It was like having the track to one's self for the most part. Got a few good tows from the CR's too and some pointers which helped a great deal.
