  1. SV's are out there. There's a really nice in in Massilon on Craigslist with a GSXR fork with just over 3k miles. I almost bought it but passed for other reasons. Look around.
  2. I'm thinking about driving out Friday night, how is camping handled at the track? If I go I probably won't get there till late evening. Can you just drive in? Typically I just drive out the morning of, so I have no idea how this stuff gets handled.
  3. Seat time, meet people and make friends at the track, tires, suspension. I ride a mostly stock SV650 and have a blast. No plastic either except a small windshield. I only have about $2800 in it, counting stuff I've broken in crashes and the GSXR front end I just bought. Don't put it on the track unless you can afford to push it off a cliff!
  4. I'm booked for Saturday. I'm probably going Sunday as well once I figure out how to delay Mother's Day for one day. Has anyone been able to reach Todd lately? I've been after him for buying a new suit but he hasn't returned any of my calls or email.
  5. I'm planning on going. Possibly for both days. I'll try and bring friends as well.
  6. I fail to understand how people ride with anything less than a full helmet, but I also don't think it should be a requirement. Let people learn...or splatter.
  7. We passed through about 3:30-4 I think. We were going "westbound" starting at Broadway and working our way back towards Fairview Park.
  8. I think that was the biggest surprise! I never felt like I had to exceed the speed limit by very much to have a lot of fun over there, and it's the first time I've had an encounter like this over there. Meadows is in Brecksville, we carried on for a while after turning off Tinker's Creek. I was just still pissed off by then and it caught up to me in those turns. Not good, I'd never forgive myself if I dumped my Tuono because I wasn't focused! Looking back I'm glad there wasn't an altercation. I started thinking about all the ways this could have gone wrong and after seeing him risk life and limb to get away I decided it was time to sit out. I'm not very easy to anger, the guy just did everything wrong to set me off.
  9. I had a pretty nasty encounter with an idiot trying to pass me and two of my friends yesterday on Gorge Parkway in Bedford. We're riding in a staggered line toward Tinker's Creek Rd down the hill, and out of nowhere I hear some loud V-twin exhaust. I thought it was my friend on his Diavel getting a little close as we came up on a car that was going quite slow in order to pull off into the parking lot bit the river. Turns out it's some maniac on a HD Bagger that forced his way past my friends while riding on the yellow line, then cut back into the lane in front of me, nearly clipping my front tire. I hit the brakes pretty hard to get away from the guy, had a hard time getting much distance as the car was also slowing down. Bagger almost dumped it since he was trying carry speed to get around the car in a blind turn, and didn't see another oncoming car. The car in front of us pulled off, and I gave chase to have a few words with this asshole. By now we're on Tinker's Creek Rd, and I'm in his mirrors pointing toward the side of the road. He saw me and squeezed past another car he was caught behind, and split the lane as there was yet another oncoming car. By now my sensibility kicked back in and I pulled off to the side of the road figuring this guy is going to dump the bike somewhere, and probably take someone else with him. I was pretty shook up and had to stop at another Metropark picnic area as I almost ran off the road on Meadows Parkway. I don't know if the guy was drunk or just overly aggressive; I'm still trying to make sense of it all. It's odd that of all the near-collisions I've had on a bike, all but one involved another rider and not a car. If there's a news story down the road about a guy with an orange Bagger binning himself in the ditch in NEO, I'll have a pretty good idea what he was doing beforehand. I guess all I'm trying to say is, if you're going to pass, do it smart, and don't do it in blind turns!
  10. Sounds good. I usually pull my batteries for the winter anyway so that's not a problem. I think I'll be getting something this week. Track season is upon us!
  11. I'm looking at getting a li-ion battery for my track bike but I'm held up because I have heard they require a special charger. Now I can't find that info and was hoping someone on OR knows the answer.
  12. I'm ok to plunk down for good tools that last, thanks for the recommendations.
  13. I'd like to replace my chain but don't want to cough up extra cash to have the shop install one. So I'll need a chain breaker. I figure it'll pay for itself after one chain, plus no turnaround time waiting for the shop to do the bike. Is it worth shopping around or do all the tools work the same way? Anyone have any recommendations? I have three bikes all with different chains, 520, 525, and 530. I'll need something that will do all three.
  14. I had a feeling that was the case, thanks for confirming.
  15. Taichi's site uses measurements (metric), so it's pretty easy to convert to L or XL. They have slim-2XL widths for each size too. http://pro1.rs-taichi.com/product/NXL303.html Spidi is odd though, their sizes start at 46 which I would assume those are some European size which I'm not certain how to convert. http://www.spidi.com/eu/eu_en/motorcycle-suits/rr-wind-pro.html
  16. I'm about 5'9"-10", weigh 175-180, and have fairly wide shoulders for my height. I don't know my dress suit size, I'll have to look at it when I get home. Todd recommended Taichi and Spidi brands, I was looking at the RS Taichi GP WRX R303 and GP MAX 070, and Spidi RR Leather Wind models. I will need room for a back protector and would like to get a chest protector. Both just make sense.
  17. I'm getting a new suit this year and talked to Todd of Motoseries to buy one through him. He recommended a couple brands but I'm caught on sizing. I've measured myself, but am right between L and XL, so I need to know if it's good to have a suit that is tight and break it in or should I get XL and have more freedom of movement? I'm inclined to think tight is good but need to make sure. Also, some measurements I'm dead on, others I'm off. I have a noticable draw and my chest measurements would put me in a larger size than my waist/hip measurements would allow. Would it be best to pick a size that is closest to my chest measurement? The waist/hips would be a little looser in that case.
  18. It's a sign of the times if nothing else. I wonder what the perception of the brand will be if this goes through.
  19. I rode Wednesday to work, Wednesday night, and last Friday to work too. Getting caught in that "evening rain" (that fell at 2:30) last Friday sucked but it was still great to ride. Sunday is promising but I'll be coming back from snowboarding in NY.
  20. Thanks for the pointers guys. I think I will go for one of the setup deals at a track day, since I really would like to have someone go over my bike with me just to get a head start. I'll definitely check the links too, and I'm sure I'll have more questions then.
  21. I'd like to know if there are suspension tuning clinics or classes offered anywhere. Now that I have a bike with fully adjustable suspension, I want to know how to use it. I also plan on doing a GSXR fork/shock swap on my SV, but again I'd like to know how to get the most out of the components at the track. I know I can shell out $80 to have someone set it up for me at the track, but I can't afford that every track day and would like to know what's going on and how to get desirable results.
  22. My girfriend works in medical billing for a children's hospital and has a few winners. Pepsi - girl Richeal - girl Tremendous - Boy Wonderful - Girl (also Tremendous' twin sister) The inner city reveals some serious gems; my mom taught both Central Brown and Sir Wilburt III. The latter was not royalty. All this on top of the hundreds of Aiden-ish derivatives (jayden, brayden, hayden, etc) which is just a terrible name to begin with, and all the unforgivable misspellings. *just to be different* Spins on classics are bad too in my eyes. It just sounds like you're making things up. I'm honestly amazed my girlfriend hasn't come across someone named French Tickler (insert last name here)
  23. Doh! I completely missed that, even before. I guess my bitching about trying to get my money back was a waste too!
  24. I got an email from NESBA this evening about safety, and saw this schedule at the bottom of the message for April: So are they back on for the Midwest or what?
