Time to upgrade helmet. Need "oval" or "long oval" - what to look at?
mojocho replied to Phreon's topic in Daily Ride
I can't comment on noise because I always use ear plugs. But one very general rule of thumb is if they say it has a lot of ventilation, that usually means noisy, and vice versa. It's kind of obvious if you think about it. More ventilation = more wind = more wind noise. -

+1That's where I started, but nothing beats first hand experience. My oval head fits best with HJC, Scorpion, and Bell. Bell being my first choice in terms of quality. -
That's like the sexiest thing anyone ever posted. I'm pretty sure I love you.

I stand corrected. My wife says I'm wrong all the time so it's not surprising.

It's probably the neighbor running their microwave.

Yup, Thunderace. the 600 was called the thundercat on the other side of the pond. This was my first bike. The YZF forum is practically a cult following. The biggest problem this bike has was a bad second gear. If it occurs it happens before 25k miles. After that it will usually be fine. It is a great bike! It's great at everything, not perfect at anything. That's a good thing if you can only have one bike. Touring, canyon carving, commuting. I have a friend who still uses it as a track bike. I'd ask about the tranny. Hard to test unless you ride it though. Need to wind her up in second gear and see if it starts to slip. If not, you can buy an aftermarket shift detent from motion prop that is beefer than the original and should save the tranny. It's behind the clutch basket but is really easy to do. Otherwise you're looking at pricey fix at the dealer. If you are mechanical it can be done cheaply and again the forum has a step by step.

Wow! Glad you guys are OK considering it could have been worse. Watching the video makes me realize just how fast things turn to shit. Less than a second and shit happens.

Traded in the Subaru for a 07 ford explorer sport trac
mojocho replied to speedytriple's topic in Dumpster
Congrats! I've got an '08 sport trac I n V8 trim. I love it! I'm really disappointed they discontinued it. Ford is forcing everyone to the F150. Which is much larger than I need. The nice thing about the sport trac is the back seat. It's a full size back seat like the regular explorer. Most other compact trucks that are 4 door like the tacoma or frontier are not as roomy. You'll love her. Great in the winter. Look into the wrangler duratrac is you want beefy tires. -
I was dragging toe on my stock rearsets on my R1. Vortex rearsets were put on and never dragged toe again. I'm not saying it couldn't be resolved with better body/foot position, but just sharing what i did.

Sign up for track day. Righties are my preference too. Track days helped cure that.

I don't think Gingerman ever sold out. Everyone complains about the cracks. Doesn't bother me as most of the lines isn't affected by it when you are leaned over. But $99 is a great deal. $280 weekend bundle for 3 days is an awesome deal. Will wait to pull the trigger as it gets closer.

I interrupted your meal, then killed you. Im sorry.

Wow. Glad u made. I knew a guy who had a similar situation. But as he veered one way so did the vulture take flight in the same direction. The end result was he hit it straight on. It rolled over his front fairing and landed in his lap... Dead from the first impact. And apparently they do shit themselves... Sh!t all over the front of the bike and his lap. He kept the bike up somehow and pulled off the road. Don't recall but I think he had some bruised ribs, helmet was a mess, busted fairings, etc. Always ride expecting the worse. I feel like I ride at about 50%-65% just because I'm always expecting a deer, car, gravel, Wayne Newton, to just appear on the road. I guess that's what track days are for... WOT. -
I just want to thank my wife and kids for supporting me through the years by sucking all my track funds away. I want to thank the Academy for whatever it is they do. This honor is a joy to receive and will be even better joy to use as I spread my knee puck excrements on the track. Seriously, thanks to Nick, STT and Casper!! To all the loser...S U C K - I T! [emoji317] j/k...all in good fun.

As of now I plan on going. Nice track. My pucks lost their virginity there.

I love Grattan. I'll be there on the 26th! Can't wait but it'll be my first track day of the season. Have to work out the cobwebs. Your vids pumped me up.

Never fool yourself into thinking a company will be loyal to you. It's business. I've been on the cutting end many times. It sucks. You feel bad that you have to pick who stays and goes but the alternative is everyone goes when the business can't survive. My advice is get your resume out there pronto before everyone does. An employed person is more desirable than an unemployed one. Your blessing is that you have 18 months to find something and be selective. Good luck man!

All I wanted was to grow up and make money so I could do the things I wanted to do. Now I work too much and I have responsibilities that don't let me do the things I want to do.

You are my holy shit I'm old moment now. I remember working on programming code on an Apple II E...doh.

Derek. On the same day in 2007, one of my best friends died at The Gap on a motorcycle trip a bunch of us were on. It was the worst day of my life second to me having to meet his wife and kids back home and bring back his belongings. Every year I ride on the 12th also. This is the first year I won't be able to. I sold my street bike and haven't had the time to convert my track bike back to dual duty. I wish I could join you... This year I'll probably do a few laps around the block on the track bike. Next year regardless of the day I'll join you for sure.

I used to commute 55 miles one way and the wife and I were down to one car for the summer. Rain or shine I rode everyday. I put on 12k miles that summer alone. I remember those days fondly! Now with kids that have to be picked up from daycare, a commute only 20 miles, more active kids on the weekend and too much work i'm down to about 1-2k miles a year [emoji33]
