  1. If every state of the US was a different flavor, Ohio would be vanilla.
  2. How did I not know this existed. Trophy trucks on circuits? Yes plz
  3. I don't disagree with the intention, but I don't think the law will work the way they think it will. How do you define "last resort"? You're laying on the ground bleeding out?
  4. War is peace Freedom is slavery Ignorance is strength Testing is teaching
  5. May is early, April is bravery. Hope you have a great day
  6. Considering what week it is and how much testing is going on, I'm surprised you have time to troll OR.
  7. Lol... Something similar happened when I was a kid. Grandparents showed up at 2am for their Christmas visit, a day early. My mom and stepdad heard someone "trying to pick the lock to get in," went downstairs and had the hunting rifle aimed right at their heads as they walked through the door. "Hi Granny and Grandad, Merry Christmas!" Glad this was figured out and nobody got hurt or arrested! A security system of some sort that you can put on your house and in your shop isn't a bad plan regardless.
  8. 1) Novice is more controlled and speeds are lower than in I and A groups. Having less required prep is also a move to get more people out on the track who have never done a track day before. You follow a CR/coach in your assigned group - groups are determined by pace, slow to fast. There is no passing unless your coach initiates the pass on a straight. 2) Each group gets 20 minutes per session, in this rotation: Intermediate, Advanced, Novice. 20 minutes on-track, 40 minutes off track. 1 hour break for lunch for all groups (sometimes this is a bit shorter, but not often). 3) The pit area is open, the whole track is open to wander around. There are bleachers on corners, bridges to stand on and watch, etc. Bring your own chairs and a pop-up tent if you're not renting a garage ($50/day on top of track day fee). There's nothing specifically for kids to do that I have seen. 4) Chairs, cooler of snacks/drinks, something to provide shade, whatever tools you might need for your bike (other riders in the pit have tons of tools, I doubt anyone would mind lending something if you didn't have it). 5) I don't think they offer any sort of compensation, regardless of weather conditions. Do not go to Mid-O if it is damp or wet. If it starts raining, think of all the fun times you had before the first drops of water hit the track, pack your stuff up and have a nice trip home. The track is great when it is warm and dry, but the sealant gets really slick when it is wet. That's the reason no pro organizations race bikes there anymore. I overheard this from one of the owners (Richard Varner) of MotoAmerica last year at Pittsburgh, "I'd love to do something at Mid Ohio, but with the track the way it is, until they fix the problem, we aren't going to consider it as an option." Long story short, don't go if it's going to be raining or wet . If it isn't raining or wet, the track is wonderful.
  9. Was around 45 when we left Pony, was about 55 when we got back to Columbus. Was really really windy once we got close to 70 heading back towards the city at 3 or so. The temperature started dropping too.
  10. added 200 miles to the odo. (or so? @jacobhawkins)
  11. Back to street legal. After a 2 hour battle with the special Honda fairings. @jschaf warned me.
  12. Do tell. Anything to do with Herrin and his new sponsor/team?
  13. Gained 7lbs last Sunday inexplicably and it still isn't gone yet. Thinking it's due to a cold I'm on the very tail end of. That's like... 21,000 calories of fat. No way it's not water. Stupid water.
  14. He'll tell you what you're doing wrong and how to improve. I like Rusty, he's just very... direct.
  15. only if you have a thick skin.

  17. Cabin at the Gateway Inn booked for the 19th to the 23rd. I will be there starting on Tuesday the 19th and leaving on Friday the 22nd. I am excite.
  18. I don't disagree that anybody born in the US has a leg up on people born in certain other parts of the world, but that doesn't change the fact that the way things are going, it's getting harder and harder to take part in the "American Dream". These negative changes having mostly to do with the lobby in Washington.
  19. I think a few of us will be down on the 19th.
  20. what

    Pitt Race

Damn, work has screwed me over again. Nelson pricing is not bad. May check that out.
  21. Welcome to America, the land of dreams. Because reality sucks.
  22. Interesting video that goes into pretty good detail on rally note taking/calling (right 3 into left 2 open then jump into 6 open 200, etc) in case anyone is interested in learning. Also, a 20 mile hillclimb. Holy crap.
  23. Close to the proposed robot tax they plan to implement to pay a universal basic income when most minimum wage jobs are replaced by automation in the next 15 years. Except that the tax wont go to a UBI, it will somehow end up a public tax subsidy paying corporations extra money to switch to robots instead of people.
  24. This is fun http://nbc4i.com/2018/03/22/ohio-house-passes-bill-to-withhold-money-to-cities-with-speed-cameras/
  25. Oh, didn't know that had an effect. If that's the case then nevermind. I'll call them up today and ask questions.
