I'm saying get what he "wants" and grow into it. He already said he wanted and naked or a sport bike. Why would a guy go buy something he dosnt want just because it's more commuter friendly? We are talking size and power of a bike here I thought, not style. He's already decided the style he wants.

Ouch, this is probably one in a million scenario but still sucks. Damn!

Those things go into garbage soon as I buy a new lid. Never stay on and always in the way.

You have to find a happy medium for comfort, protection and riding style. Full power ranger leather race suit is obviously going to be the top tier of protection and some choose to run this year round reguardless of weather conditions. I say fuck that, I'm noting going to be miserable on my bike because I fear what might happen, if I thought that way I might as well sell the bike and stay at home. Full textile will still be warm but will vent better and offer good protection. The mesh jackets is a step down in protection but will be the most comfortable. SO, there is no right or wrong answer just depends on the protection level vs comfort level you are looking for. If your a moderate rider the mesh will be good protection in 90% of the circumstances, but if your a rider that wants to do Mach Retard every where obviously the leather power ranger suit might be the way to go. What ever you choose will obviously better than nothing at all. Helmet. ankle support boots, solid jeans, any kind of riding jacket and riding gloves at a minimum.

@Gump had one of these it was very capable and nimble.

Okay I haven't read this entire thread but I get the jist of where it's going. I'm now going to throw my hat in the ring. I really don't think it matters how may horse powers or the weight of any bike is for any level rider. IF, you are smart. Just because a bike might have 150 horse powers or 110lbs of torque it dosnt mean you have to use it. Now I totally understand the temptation and if you know for a fact you cant control that temptation don't go big, stay small and easy. Now im not saying you need to go out and buy a R1 or a H2 or a Busa Brah. But I think a nice 600R bike or even a 750 would make a nice first bike to be able to grow into with out having to do the step up methods and waste money. But again that is only IF you can stay smart about it. My very first street bike was 750 GSXR and I think I turned out very well for a rider. I knew my limits and knew what the bike was capable of and never pushed it too hard. I don't or didnt do any dank whoolies or stoppies or burnout of any of the squid shit. Other than a drop in the gravel at a stop sign Ive never been down (knock on wood) and Ive had great success as a rider, being smart. I went from my Gixxer 750, to a TL1000S, to Vstrom1000 to my now Concours1400. Not saying my way is for everyone but it worked for me learning to grow into a bigger bike instead of growing out of a smaller one.

NICE Doc!! I'm trying to get the wife on the Connie with me this year. She has her own bike and likes to ride but I'd like to take her out too for a few spins. We have always had to ride separate bikes because we were just flat out too heavy to two up before. But with loosing 185lbs between the both of us we would now be able to do it this year.

@CrazySkullCrusher is a semi expert on these machines maybe he could chime in . Cable routing is the only thing I can think of but sounds like you checked that out already.

Have fun bubbys it was a hard choice on trail or street ride, the street won out this time.

Then how is the morning dew going to soften the bugs on my windscreen?

I still have my sticker stash but if someone wants one they will have to run down a my silver bullet rocketing through the mountains of VA and WV. ;) Yes I bailed on the circle jerk to trail ride in the dirt, and bailed on the bubby's trail riding to hit the road and get my lean on.

Past, present and future for me. She's a good ride and if I'd need to replace her for any reason at all I'd go buy another one. Unless I'd win the lottery then I would buy a Motus.

Yup jury is still out on if it's worth it vs just using a bucket on the bike. I already had a pressure washer and the cannon thing was only $15 to $20 on amazon.
