  1. Looks like I'm out for this again. The 19th is my daughters graduation party and the 20th we are leaving for Myrtle Beach.
  2. If he goes the harley route he can put that money towards chrome and just get a quality bandana and some flip flops
  3. Yea I doubt you will find one of the newer scouts for that. I'd steer away from anything harley but that's just me.
  4. Inidan scout is a excellent option too, plenty of power. 100HP
  5. Welcome..and there are plenty of fat kids on sport bikes around here, including myself. I'm more of a fat old man on a fat old man sport bike though.
  6. My L1, L2 compression fractures were a let it heal injury too. 10 months later still hurts like a mother fer if I do the wrong thing or move the wrong way.
  7. I did and since you ask (please don't take this the wrong way) I find blogs like this almost dumb. And it has nothing to do with subject matter, what he is doing is exactly what I do; Logging miles exploring the country and seeing new things and places. But I'm just not into blogging or diaries or documenting things. The stories he tells in the blog are the ones we like to tell by the fire or in a pub with good company and a drink in our hand and be able to reshare the trips of the past. Like I said don't take it the wrong way but it's just not my thing. I do like to hear about places and roads to ride but I want a very limited information so I can live it for myself. I don't want to read a detailed blog or story about a trip or route to only think "yup that's what he said it was" the whole time im riding it. Some guys on here like reading things like his so hell yea if that his thing keep it coming.
  8. Think you about covered it all. So the my answer to all of those things is, YES. It is all of those things. Every trip is different for me. 'm looking for that "Ahhhhhh" moment when all the cares in the world are gone and it's just you your machine and nothing else. Sometimes I find that on a trip around the block. Sometimes it's on a winding mountain road. Sometimes it's walking into a road side motel room after a great days ride. But I always find it.
  9. I work a lot of Saturday especially in the nice weather months almost all of those. 60 and 72 hour weeks are common in the summer months. But my 5 weeks of vacation helps that out. At 60k a year with OT, a good pension and 401k matching and decent health package I'm making the best that I can of it for now. Im currently throwing 15% in my 401k because there will be a day I'm going to walk away from this. That day will be in about 7 to 9 years when my house is paid off, kids are out on their own and I'll have little to no obligations. Way I look at it I'm paying my dues now to be able to enjoy a semi early retirement. The Mrs. has medical career that she absolutely loves and will be the bread winner after that, ill just fine something to do that I also love that will most likely pay a lot less.
  10. Who ever told you it was a touring bike? I do believe that is not what I refer to it as.
  11. That bike has more trailer miles that road miles. Yea he's turning into "that guy".
  12. Damn kids just can't leave things alone. Killing baby seals for more torques.
  13. How is he going to know the difference? His bike has like 20 miles on it
  14. This was my first. 1990 GSXR750. Lots of memories on that old turd.
  15. As usual Saturdays are a 50/50 venture for me Sundays are usually clear. End of May and most of June I'm booked.
  16. Been happy with my EBC rotors on the connie. Bolted them on and never had to think about them again. Guess that's as good as it gets.
  17. Damn that was a lot. At 39k miles only 2 of mine were out but just barely. I have 60k now. I wasn't going to check them again till 90 to 100k.
  18. I bought some R&G racing frame sliders for the connie. Soon as we get some warmer weather I'll start my wrenching.
