  1. AVG is what I run. I used to use Avira but they started to get crazy with the pop-up windows trying to force you to upgrade to the paid version. Pissed me off so I switched.
  2. That's cool. I was looking for official tests and those where the easiest reputable numbers I could come up with. The ZX is a claimed 15hp more than the Duc also so I would have expected that. Ducati's have never really been known as a drag bike.
  3. After my first track day. Not to terrible. Haven't done any better since then, I prefer to leave some in reserve.
  4. The ZX14 and the Panigale in a drag race would be very close. I think the ZX would take it though, as much as that's hard to admit. You would need a pro driver to truly get the most out of either of them. Rickey Gadson rode the 2012 ZX to 9.47 sec @ 152.83 mph for Cycleworld. 0-60@2.6 sec ; 0-100@4.8 sec Steve Rapp rode the Panigale to 10.0 seconds flat at 144.9 mph for Motortrend 0-60@2.7 sec ; 0-100@5.1 sec
  5. CMH_Sprint, we need to get together and compare notes on our Sprints one of these days. 36, riding a red '06 Sprint ST. Picked it up last fall. 27,100 out of which 5k are mine. Hope to run those numbers up a little this year. Rode it down to the Dragon last fall and loved it. I could actually still feel the lower half of my body after doing 1600 miles in 5 days. Took this picture when we were on the Blue Ridge parkway coming back up to Ohio. My other bike, that is nowhere near sport touring, is the Ducati Sportclassic. Picked it up new in 2008 and have 19,400 on it (All mine thank you). I constantly do 3-400 mile days on that thing and have done two 1100+ mile 3 day weekends on it. No saddle bags but a tank bag and backpack. Rode it to Lynchburg VA on one trip and Sparta NC on another in the same year. It's not a great sport-touring bike and those two trips are what prompted me to buy the Triumph mentioned above. Here is a pic taken at the hotel with the rest of the guys that rode down to Sparta for the get together. (mines the yellow uncomfortable looking one )
  6. Double insider secret, the safety wire job on your last remaining pinch bolt will do nothing to retain it in it's hole if it comes loose. You are actually running a negative safety on your wire that will only promote the pinch bolt coming loose over the long term.
  7. Reason #47 to wear your gear and a full face with the visor down. You too can have hockey smile.
  8. Just a little bit of fun for all the guys that own a Mosin; http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinHumor.htm
  9. Also watch that a lot of people complain the factory rotary damper on the rear suspension is a known failure point. There are a couple websites devoted to doing shock swaps for that bike.
  10. Don't forget to check out stuff like minivans. Certainly not a manly as a pickup but they get great gas mileage and vehicles like the mid 2000's Honda Odysseys come with a better that 3,000lb towing capacity.
  11. You forgot to mention the stuff tends to smell foul when it gets wet and the pipes start to dry it out.

    Web browsers

Firefox at home, forced to use IE at work. (ick:nono:)
  13. Riding weather happened. The zombie apocalypse will have to wait till the weather gets bad again.
  14. Reread the article. They are not saying that New York passed a law making it legal. What the article is saying is that the current law does not provide sufficient wording that causes viewing to be illegal. What they are saying is a ruling against some convicted pervert is getting reversed on appeal because nowhere does it say that viewing falls into the above categories. The scum never downloaded the images so therefore gets off on a loophole in the law and the way technology works. The guy is no less guilty but he payed for a good enough lawyer and just as it is in any part of our society he has payed for his freedom. I am sure that the wording of the current law will be fixed very soon.
  15. Ok so I ran a few of the numbers through my ballistics calculator. .338 Lapua 300gr sierra matchking 2750fps (max load from my loading manual) at 2700 yards (8120ft) the bullet will be traveling at roughly 877fps and will have around 500ftlbs of energy. You have to figure it is hitting with almost the exact speed and force of a 45acp bullet from a handgun at point blank. It is certainly lethal. For the fun stuff. It would have taken the bullet 5.98 seconds to fly that far. At it's highest point the bullet would have been 157 feet above the ground. For every 3mph of crosswind, it would add around 13ft of windage adjustment. For the guys saying it can't be done. I hold the same frame of mind with that Craig Harrison dude as I would Carlos Hathcock. You go ahead and tell the guy he is lying and then stand anywhere within a mile of him with his rifle. I don't friggin think so.
  16. And on a twisted side note, a perfect example of why .380 is not a good self defense round. She took a head shot and survived. If you gotta do it, use a proper caliber weapon. As for the lady, glad she survived and hope she comes away from it without any permanent damage.
  17. I have always wanted to do something like this with mine; It's a Magnum Research Barracuda stock.
  18. You think it can actually turn the drum?
  19. Yep, Springfield. It also has a 6 digit serial that puts the build date 9 months before Pearl Harbor was attacked.
  20. Well, at least if you find any trees on campus with big holes burned in them you know where it came from. Or maybe a house full of popcorn:lol:
  21. Don't forget when doing gun photography to take the same pictures multiple times with different lighting. It's amazing what changes sometimes. These two pics were taken back to back. First is without a flash, the second with one. Now granted I flubbed the exposure on the flash photo but it did a great job of bringing out the beauty of the wood that you would otherwise never see unless in direct sunlight.
  22. Here is something like what your looking for. 19.2x13mm, 12v@20A. Rocker style with green back light so you know when it's on. $2.21 http://search.digikey.com/us/en/products/GRB066L02BBGGL1/SW649-ND/2235521 Here is another one that is 19.4x13mm same specs as above but water resistant with a different style back lighting in red. $2.43 http://search.digikey.com/us/en/products/GRB066B802BR1/CW101-ND/2349681 And identical to above red switch but no back lights; $2.08 http://search.digikey.com/us/en/products/GRB066A802BB1/CW100-ND/2349680 Edit: I've purchased stuff from Digi-Key multiple times in the past. Not bad to deal with and an electronic geeks dream store.
  23. I didn't get to see any of the warbirds fly on Monday. Only the 25's flew. Got around 200 pic's posted up; http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii281/vf1000ride/b25%20reunion/ Awesome fun stuff.
