  1. Probably pivots forwards similar to the Vette or Viper.
  2. Same, just when you get a good run together a red was shown it seemed. Where did you pit and were you running I group? That looked like a major clusterf* all day.
  3. Not a big fan of the all black version? The Alpinestars Montreal shoes are also available in black/grey!
  4. Alpinestars didn’t redesign the GP Pro suit for 2012, but they did bring out a brand new color - Red/White/Blue. This new option is available now from Riders Discount, so be sure to get in touch with Nathan if you’re interested. He can be reached by phone at 866.931.6644 ext. 809, or you can send him a PM through this forum. If email is more convenient, go ahead and send one to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM and we’ll get back to you right away! The Alpinestars GP Pro takes advantage of technologies developed by Alpinestars-sponsored racers in MotoGP and World Superbike. Made with 1.3mm full-grain leather that covers 85% of its outer surface (the rest is Aramadic stretch panel), the suit can be expected to hold up well where abrasion resistance is concerned. A vast portion of this leather has die-cut perforations in it that span the front of the suit from the collar all the way down to the openings for the feet. The top of the aerodynamic hump is also perforated. This die-cutting method not only produces millimeter-perfect spacing of each perforation but also assures that the holes will not fray over time. Of course, these perforations allow copious quantities of cooling air to pass through and keep the user comfortable while at speed. Further abetting the ventilation process, a fully-removable liner is placed between the rider’s skin and the outer leather shell, preventing sticking and allowing the skin to breathe. In certain areas, this liner has stretch panels sewn into it to permit a wide range of movement without an undue amount of effort required by the wearer. Another area where Alpinestars Tech Labs looked towards their prototype suits was with the integration of a U-shaped accordion stretch panel that runs from the lower back and up each side of the torso. With this, it becomes possible to provide a near-custom fit for a wide range of wearers and it also permits additional ease of flexibility. The suit has the potential to reduce rider fatigue because of this enhanced fitting scheme which gives the rider a feeling of being one with the suit, rather than being one in the suit. Additional accordion stretch panels are located in front of the knees and behind the elbows. As already mentioned, 15% of the outer shell is made of Aramidic stretch panel in areas that are unlikely to contact the ground in the event of a crash. These not only aid in fitment, but enhance ventilation as well. Looking after impact attenuation, Alpinestars has installed CE-certified, removable armor in the elbows, shoulders and knees. PE-padding is used in the hips and chest, the latter of which may be upgraded with Alpinestars’ own Bionic Chest Protectors. Furthering the suit’s ability to reduce the force of impact felt by the rider, hard PU plastic external sliders are located on the elbows, shoulders and knees to spread the load of an impact over a larger area and impart greater abrasion resistance to the leather. These are strategically placed where they are likely to come into contact with the pavement during a crash. Finally, if you don’t already have a back protector, don’t forget to ask about ordering a Bionic Race back protector with this suit. This particular Alpinestars back protector snaps into place just below the user’s neck in one of three selectable positions. MSRP $1099.95
  5. I'm not sure what source that was from but plain and simple it's not true. I've crash tested a Teknic soaking wet roo suit with no signs of it falling apart. You can forget about that rumor. I do have the S/S 2.0 suit, PM what size you're after and I'll get you forum pricing.
  6. Seeing if anybody has any plans to get some extra track time in before the Motoseries circus rolls into town next month. Sept. 29 - CW Sept. 30 - CCW
  7. A new Teknic Xcelerator suit is coming soon for 2013, so it’s time to start clearing out what we have left of the original. Get yours now for just $679 shipped anywhere in the lower 48! This more than $600 off the retail price of $1299, so don’t miss out! This deal is not available on our website, so be sure to give Nathan a call at 866.931.6644 ext. 809 if you’re interested. You can also feel free to send a PM through the forum, or send an email to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with “Teknic Xcelerator Sale” in the subject line and we’ll get back to you right away! Teknic Xcelerator suits are made with a combination of 50% Brazilian cowhide and 50% kangaroo leather. These two different types of leather are designed to provide excellent abrasion resistance and light-weight for maximum protection. The entire leather suit is built around the rider’s needs with Kevlar flex panels in the arms and stretch Cordura panels in the legs to accommodate a wide range of uninhibited motion without sacrificing safety. Seams are put together using Teknic Advanced Seam Construction (TASC) which provides additional rows of stitching below the outer exposed seam reducing the likelihood of two pieces coming apart. This is especially critical in areas where contact with pavement is inevitable in a fall and, to further avoid the risk of seam failure, the shoulders are reinforced on the outside with Teknic Airblade armor with aluminum inserts and aluminum elbow sliders. An added benefit of the Airblade CE-approved shoulder protection is the ventilation aspect as the hollowed-out armor directs air into the suit. Inside the Teknic suit, you’ll find CE-approved armor in the elbows and knee/shins that’s adjustable for perfect positioning thanks to a hook and loop attachment schema. Each piece of armor has two hinge points built-in, further aiding ease of movement while the tapered edges make them less noticeable to begin with. In terms of protection, each piece of the included CE-approved armor exceeded EC1621.1 thresholds by 30%! CE-approved armor is also available to be fitted into the chest pockets. Further looking after protection is an extra layer of cowhide on the shoulders, elbows, knees, aerodynamic hump and seat. Even the accordion stretch panel at the back of the suit has an extra curtain sewn into its inner side to impart extra abrasion protection.
  8. Alpinestars made quite a few changes to their line of motorcycle gloves for the Fall 2012 release, and today we’ll give you a detailed look at the updated GP Plus model. While they may not look like a radical departure from the outgoing version at first glance, the new 2012 GP Plus is a much improved pair of gloves. Before we get to the changes, here’s a quick overview for those of you that may not be familiar with the model. The GP Plus gloves are the least expensive of the “GP” gloves from Alpinestars, but this doesn’t mean that they are lacking in features. Alpinestars uses a sturdy, full grain leather construction that is backed by a Kevlar lining which runs throughout the interior. Areas that are at a higher risk for abrasion, like the outside of the hand, pinky, and palm are layered with extra panels of leather to help make sure that the only hide sliding on the pavement is cowhide, and not your own. Additional protection comes from a variety of TPU and TPR protectors that have been tried and tested by the likes of Jorge Lorenzo, Casey Stoner and Ben Spies in MotoGP. The shape and configuration of some of these protectors brings us to the changes. The first change that most notice is the addition of a molded TPU slider to the palm. This slider keeps the hand from catching the pavement and transferring energy up through the wrist in the event of a fall. Updates were also made to the TPU protectors on the fingers in order to address one of the issues that some had with the previous version. While effective, the finger protectors used to be fairly tall and knobby. Alpinestars noticed this as well, so they switched them to a lower profile design that still provides the same level of protection, only without the bulk. Wrist protection was given a boost, too. A wrap-around PU cuff adds more security for the wrist and it does this while retaining the low profile that many people liked about the old version. Safety wasn’t the only thing that improved with the new model. Alpinestars also focused on flexibility. Accordion stretch panels in the first two fingers of each hand were relocated in order to make it easier to work the brake/clutch levers. A second stretch panel was also added to each thumb for improved fit and feel. The new Alpinestars GP Plus gloves are a great option for the either the street or track day riding, and Riders Discount has them available now. Sizes run from Small to 3XL and, like most Alpinestars gloves, they run about one size small. Color options include: - Black - White/Black - White/Red/Black - Black/White/Yellow/Red. Be sure to get in touch with Nathan if you’re interested in the new GP Plus gloves, or any other Alpinestars products. You can give him a call at 866.931.6644 ext 809 or shoot him a PM through this forum. If email is more convenient, feel free to send them to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM and we’ll get back to you right away! The new Alpinestars GP Plus is shown here in black. (Photos of the other color options coming soon!) Alpinestars added a new palm slider to reduce the risk of common wrist injuries that can occur when people follow their instinctual reaction to throw their hands out when falling. The palm is reinforced with Pittards Armor-Tan leather for additional abrasion resistance and longevity. The patented Alpinestars Finger Bridge is still in place to prevent pinky dislocation, but it has been redesigned to allow for more movement. The finger sliders have also been replaced with lower profile TPU pads. Dual stretch panels in the thumbs help add flexibility for better feel and an improved fit. MSRP $189.95
  9. RHill, how close are you to Medina, Ohio or are you planning a trip to Grattan? I will have to check what I have but may have some leftover Michelins as a personal deal.
  10. Here’s a closer look at the interior of the Held Phantom gloves. The palm side is a supple kangaroo leather that is very supple and provides a great deal of feedback and comfort. You can also see the woven Kevlar that protects the top of the hand and fingers. Suprotect shock absorbing foam pads are found underneath the Kevlar throughout the top and thumb.
  11. From the makers of the original fender eliminator kit, Competition Werkes brings you the Werkes USA GP Exhaust. Fabricated entirely from CNC-cut corrosion-resistant 304 stainless steel and precision welded, the Werkes GP exhaust looks like no other slip-on muffler on the market. A tapered internal baffle is designed to be lighter than OEM with improved performance thanks to a greater capacity for exhaust gases to efficiently pass through. Werkes slip-ons that use connecting tubing that is welded together, not bent to shape – giving it the look of a one-off factory exhaust. Werkes USA GP slip-on exhausts are not available on our website yet. To order yours, call Nathan at 866.931.6644 ext 809, or send him a PM through the forum. You can also email us with any questions you have, send those to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with WERKES GP SLIP-ON in the subject line and we’ll get back to you right away. The Werkes slip-on shown is the stainless steel version for a Gen 4 Kawasaki ZX-10R. We can also special order them for you in a variety of different finishes that range from black, to titanium to gold. Some models also have a carbon fiber option. The welds on these pipes are some of the best around.
  12. It is often said that the best protection comes from the gear that you will actually wear. Forcefield is a brand that excels at producing armor which is not only easy to wear, but also extremely effective. Already well known for award winning race back protectors like the Pro Sub 4, Forcefield has combined their CE level 2 protection with a lightweight, technical fleece vest to create the ultimate in everyday armor - the Race-Lite Vest. This Race-Lite vest is easily one of the most comfortable pieces of protective gear that we have tried at Riders Discount. It’s so light and flexible that it is easy to forget that you are even wearing it. The vest itself is made of a technical fleece that is very soft and breathable. It features a full front zip that works in conjunction with the adjustable waist strap to hold the back protector right where it needs to be in order to provide the most coverage. A grippy, elastic strip also runs around the bottom to prevent the vest from sliding up as you move. The back protector in the Race-Lite vest carries the same CE Level 2 certification as their top of the line Pro Sub 4, only it is thinner and even more flexible. 3D moulding and multiple layers of flexible, energy absorbing materials allow the protector to not only conform to the body’s natural shape, but to also take multiple impacts. This ability to take repeated hits is another major factor that helps set Forcefield apart from the hard-shelled competition. Forcefield products are not yet listed on our website, so if you’re interested in the Race-Lite vest, or any of their other protectors, you can get in touch with Nathan and he’ll be happy to assist you. Feel free to give him a call at 866.931.6644 ext. 809, or send him a PM through the forum. If email is more convenient, you can send one to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM and we’ll get back to you right away! The low profile back protector is lightweight and flexible enough to conform to your body. It is also removable so that you can wash the vest. It’s amazing that such a small amount of the Forcefield material can absorb the amount of energy necessary to be CE level 2 certified.. An elastic band with rubber grip pads helps keep the vest from sliding up on you.
  13. no, not for some time. apple have made it a bit harder to jailbreak as they always try and do every new release. muscle man or whatever his screen name is has already reportedly jailbroke his iOS6, but is not stable and nowhere near a beta release.
  14. Fall weather is on the way. Be prepared for the cold, wet weather that can come with it by picking up a pair of Alpinestars Tech Heated Gloves from Riders Discount! Be sure to give Nathan a call at 866.931.6644 ext 809 if you're interested.
  15. Power Commanders don't click, that would've been your starter relay. Easiest way to rule out the PC is to unplug and replug back to OEM connections. I'm with Ryan and Sam though, start with the ignition switch.
  16. CRG was ahead of the game when they engineered the original Roll-A-Click adjustable levers, and they continue to improve upon their formula with the release of the new RC2 levers. The CRG RC2 levers are not a huge departure from the originals, but this is not a bad thing. CRG found ways to improve upon an already great set of levers by refining ergonomics, increasing durability, and improving the finish. If you were familiar with the original design you will notice that the familiar Roll-A-Click mechanism is still in place, but with a more refined shape. The new clicker shape makes it even easier and comfortable to adjust lever position on the fly. Those familiar with the original will also probably notice another new detail on the tips of the levers – replaceable Delrin tips. These Delrin tips aren’t going to make much of a difference in a major crash, but they do help absorb small amounts of damage that might normally result in the need to replace an entire lever. The CRG RC2's are still CNC-machined from strong, lightweight 6061 T-6 billet aluminum like the old model, but they are now gone over extensively with the newest CNC techniques for an even higher quality surface than before. The final step is a high-quality anodized finish in black, gold or red. These levers are not yet available on our website, so give Nathan a call at 866.931.6644 ext. 809 to order. You can also send us a PM through this forum, or send an email to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with CRG RC2 as the subject and we'll get back to you right away! The CRG RC2 levers come are available in three colors - black, red, and gold. The Roll-A-Click mechanism has been refined and is now easier to use. They can also be had in both standard and shorty lengths.
  17. Track should be at least once a year if not twice. All our WERA race bikes here at the shop get new oil after every race weekend.
