  1. The real issue is aerodynamics. You can have a carbon fiber helmet but it'll still feel heavy at speed with poor aero features. Given this, here's a relatively recent updated list of helmet weights - http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-helmets/motorcycle-helmet-weights.htm The RPS-10 was one of the lightest popular brand helmets on the market for a while, we haven't confirmed if the new RPHA-10 is the same weight or not. I personally wear the Suomy Vandal which is exceptionally light and aero. It's unfortunate that they discontinued that model.
  2. Boss job on that suit Jason.
  3. Brian, we kind of left block passing hanging (for racing purpose). I understand it, have executed it a couple times, but don't think I can get it down in words for others to understand. Perhaps you could further explain what a block pass is? Racing only situation here...
  4. We can get you some gauntlet gloves as well for a good combo price.
  5. Alpinestars has further expanded their line of casual shoes for this year with the addition of the Classic. These lightweight sneakers are not meant for riding, instead they were designed from the top down for everyday comfort. Starting at the top, the upper is constructed from a durable and soft split suede with mesh panels on each side. Lining the upper is a plush 3D mesh that is both breathable and flexible. Foot support is provided by a replaceable EVA foam footbed with a dual density composite midsole. This comfortable base is lined with an Alpinestars exclusive vulcanized rubber sole that provides durability and grip. The Alpinestars Classic shoes are not listed on the Riders Discount website yet, so be sure to get in touch with Nathan if you’re interested. He can be reached at 866.931.6644 ext. 809, or by sending a PM through the forum. If email is more convenient, feel free to send one to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM and we’ll get back to you right away!
  6. I wasn't talking about a trackday, terminator was discussing race situation.
  7. Probably easier to just stop crashing.
  8. block pass on the inside. you won't make a lap time, but you'll get in front.
  9. We just can’t get enough of the stingray leather on the Held Titan gloves. What about you?
  10. As a Michigan-based company, Riders Discount is all too familiar with having painfully short riding season. We know many of you are also familiar with this unfortunate reality and, like us, try to keep riding as long as possible - despite the cold weather. One easy way to make your rides in these less than favorable weather conditions more comfortable is to use quality heated gear like the Alpinestar Tech Heated Gloves and Vest. The Alpinestars Tech Heated gloves use a leather construction with textile, suede and polyurethane inserts for a high level of protection. In addition to the durable main leather construction, the gloves feature PU inserts in the sides, along the wrist, and PU armor molded across the knuckles. There is also extra padding along the top of all fingers. Rounding out the list of safety features is the Alpinestars patented finger-bridge connecting the 3rd and 4th fingers. These safety standards are similar to those you would expect to find on a top of the line pair of racing gloves. For weatherproofing, Alpinestars makes use of its Drystar membrane, which is both waterproof and breathable. This allows it to maintain heat while wicking away any sweat that would normally build up, leaving you with dry, comfortable hands. Heating is accomplished with a new active heating technology that heats up the gloves quickly and provides consistent heat over the entire hand. We tested the heating capabilities of these gloves in the shop by hooking the wiring loom up to one of our Ballistic Lithium Ion batteries. The gloves were up to temp in only 3 - 4 minutes and we measured a maximum internal temperature of 107° F with our infrared thermometer. The Alpinestars Tech Heated Vest is a lightweight mid-layer that keeps you warm without the need for bulky insulation. The ultra-comfortable vest uses flat polymer heat panels in the chest, shoulders, neck and lower back to evenly distribute the heat without creating hot spots. This is further aided by the insulating properties of the lycra outer shell and mesh internal lining that allows heat to easily pass through to your body. In order to keep you warm and dry, Alpinestars added breathable side panels to help wick away moisture. Power for both the vest and gloves comes directly from your bike’s battery, so wiring is very simple. The wiring kit for both is sold separately and comes with everything needed to run the vest and gloves together or individually. An optional Electronic Temperature Regulator (ETR) can also be added to the vest for your choice of four different temperature settings. The Alpinestars Tech Heated Gloves and Vest are a great way to keep warm and comfortable when the weather doesn’t cooperate, and Riders Discount is happy to help you get you set up. Be sure to get in touch with Nathan if you’re interested. He can be reached through this forum or by phone at 866.931.6644 ext. 809. If email is more convenient, feel free to send those to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM and we’ll get back to you right away! A mesh liner in the vest allows heat to travel evenly from the heating elements to your body. The lycra outer shell helps keep heat in, while mesh sides wick away built-up moisture. Alpinestars Tech Heated Gloves The Tech Heated gloves feature the Alpinestars finger-bridge and molded PU knuckle protectors. The cuff features double layer construction to avoid thermal bridges and a storm gauntlet to fit over jacket sleeves and keep the elements out. The controller kit is required to run the gloves/vest and it includes everything you need to run both of them. It comes with: Battery wiring loom with inline fuse (37”), extension cable (24”) and a long Y split harness (94”) that allows you to route the connection points wherever you prefer on your bike.
  11. Thanks for the friendly nudge. These are available again.
  12. Have you tried on any brands that you particularly liked the way they fit?
  13. If you tally up all the bikes and riders in MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3, WSBK and WSS, you’ll find that nearly 90% of them are running braking systems from Brembo. This is a massive testbed for the development of new technologies, and this is exactly where their newest rotors came to be. These rotors, called T-Drive, use a unique, patent-pending type of interface to connect the disc and the carrier. Gone are the circular button type connectors normally seen on floating rotors. In their place, Brembo used a set of eight “T” shaped pins on the disc side that couple with the carrier through a guillotine type connection. The new T-Drive interface that gives the rotors their name was developed and tested at the highest levels of competition, where rotors are subjected to very extreme levels of thermal and mechanical stress. When completed, the new design showed improved resistances to both of these forces while also allowing for a more efficient transfer of brake torque from disc to wheel. Improvements to durability and performance can often come at the expense of a higher weight, but that is not the case here. Brembo managed to make these improvements while also saving a significant amount of weight. This reduction in unsprung weight, plus the more efficient performance add up to enhanced rideability for your bike and more confidence for you. If you’re interested in more information about the Brembo T-Drive rotors, feel free to get in touch with Nathan by calling 866.931.6644 ext. 809, or by sending a message through this forum. If email is more convenient, you can send one to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM and we’ll get back to you right away! Brembo T-Drive rotors feature the same steel used in SBK and MotoGP discs. The carrier has a black anodized finish. A closer look at the T-Drive interface between the disc and carrier. Here's a sneak peak at what we'll be pairing up with a set of Brembo T-Drive rotors on our Triumph Daytona 675 project bike. (Hint: There are 7 magnesium spokes sandwiched between these rotors.)
  14. We used U-Ship to deliver our two KTM's from a private seller with no problems.
  15. Is the schedule in discussion yet? Maybe try to make Grattan sometime earlier than snow season

  18. On the other side of the coin, two wave starts are needed so you're not packing 50 bikes into T1.
  19. AMA only streams SS and XR classes via Speed 2 which you need to have a cable provider that offers this online option. If you don't have cable tv, you're out of luck for streaming AMA unfortunately
